  • Best drop shot knot and its not the palomar knot. Palomar knot is the go to knot but this knot is way stronger. Years of fishing the two knots has lead to this conclusion. Best drop shot knot hands down.

    I had the same trouble with the palomar on dropshot. You'll get a similar result using the uni or the trilene knot and running the tag through the eye of the hook after(victory lap). I prefer the trilene, but that's just personal preference. Hook stands up, bait shakes nicely. Bass inhale it.

    This is interesting, I think I'll give it a shot next time I use a drop shot. I've become a big fan of the uni knot over the past few years. Started with targeting bigger species but I find I'm using it more when fishing for bass, trout, and even panfish. Especially like it for snelling larger circle hooks.

    Nice video, but I have to disagree. There are some RUclips videos that show different knot strength tests with lab equipment, and the Palomar comes up on top. The reason the Palomar knot breaks for some anglers using fluorocarbon line is incorrect tying. Please look at Jacob Wheeler's video he put out in 2021 on tying the knot.....you have to make sure at the end of tying BEFORE cinching it down that a section of the line is "flipped up" so it won't cut into itself.
    If I may make another suggestion. Please try these alternate hook knots which allow for a better 90 degree hook positioning than the Palomar knot. May not be as strong, but positioning is better:
    1. "Keep Your Dropshot Hook UP! How To Tie The BEST Knot For Dropshots" by RUclipsr Humbug Outdoors fishing
    2. "How To Tie Drop Shot Rig | Fast & Easy Way [ Drop Shot knot ]" by RUclipsr MHR FISHING
    Note : They are slightly different ties from each other. The first video leaves the stacks of line on each side TOUCHING the eyelet.
    BUT the 2nd video leaves the stacks of line on each side BELOW the eyelet.
    I am still playing with which I will rely on more. Hope this helps.

    • @CentralCoastBass
      @CentralCoastBass  3 года назад +2

      I tie this knot I tell you why, its not difficult you don't have to position anything to make it correct. I tie this drunk half the time and it never breaks. 40 years bass fishing why won't you people realize I know my shit. Thanks for the comment though.
