I used to mod Halo 1 on PC back in the day. One of my favorite things was making that thing fly-able on the level Halo. I used to fly in and dropship my ass down in the various surviving Marine camps, slay all the covenant, and get back in my trusty tuning fork and fly to the next battle. The jump and crouch buttons are what make it hover upwards and downwards.
I just got passed that first contact part in contact harvest and man someone needs to got into a deep detail or like a reenactment or something man that was wild.
As soon as I heard you say the next time we saw them was in H5, I knew there was going to be lots of ackshually it was in Reach. I knew what you meant at least. Reach was before CE, next time we saw them in the chronological timeline of the games is H5
Re: the relativistic property of moving gravity fields, the ship will not be able to achieve relativistic speed because momentum is a function of mass and as a massive object approach the speed of light it gains relative mass requiring an exponential increase in force as speed increases.

I've always loved the spirit, very alien design and sound, a great staple of Halo CE. Was great to see their return in Halo Reach. I also remember the one time I played through Halo 5 going "oh cool the spirit!" Nice classic Halo vehicle, would love it see its return.
Yeah, now that you mention it, the Spirit does seem to have a more mass produced look to it while the phantom seems like something you would expect only certain high ranking or special units to be deployed in.
@@derekmensch3601 No clue if this is supported by lore, but I see it as the Phantom being an improved model of dropship that replaced the spirit as the primary intended troop carrier while the spirit remained widely used because it was likely mass produced and thus there were plenty of them remaining in service.
the notes of Kor Lonso, former covenant hisortain and warrior- "Ah yes, the spirit. Everyone of us from the war will remember it. Many of my fellow sangheili saw them merely as a means to an end. to get them from point a to point b and nothing more something get us down to where whatever glorious battle was happening down below. others saw them as for what they were well tested workhorses but ultimately unworthy of "true warriors" to pilot. regardless i held no love for the cursed things myself there was little comfort or protection aside for the bare minimum to whoever found themselves inside. they were sturdy to be sure but there was little to stop you from being thrown about unless you held on tight and made sure your assigned stasis harnesses was working. in other words, i much preferred the phantom..."
May theory for this thing existing alongside the phantom would be, that it might not be an assault lander but a more conventiona shuttle. After all the (almost) only time we saw it was on Installation 04, where the Covenant landed without any resistance. The humans only came later. Imho the biggest indicator for that would be the inferior armament compared to the phantom, particularly the lack of turrets to give covering fire during disembarking.
I have distinct memories of a playthrough I did of Halo CE back in the day with my cousin. While attempting to beat the game on Legendary, our strategy for dealing with covenant deploying in the mission Halo was to use the warthog's .50 cal to mow as many of them down as possible the second the door swung open. Then pull back to a safe distance and snipe. In short, we inadvertently turned each deployment into an Omaha beach moment for the covenant.
I always wondered what the interior of the pilot cockpit of the spirit looked like, all we have is those shadowed door ways you can partially walk in. I think it was the reach one that lacked the shadowed doorway so I think on that one the driver would access the seat through a top hatch rather than the deployment bay like the H5 one..
Hey installation00 can you do the skirmishers and kig Yar breakdown or the energy bayonet and the guardian blade *edit* btw I love your channel keep up the good work
I believe the phantom makes a better troop transport however the Spirit makes for a vastly better vehicle transport and has vastly better resupply potential. The Spirit just needs a redefined roll. It should be used as a vehicle delivery/resupply craft with the forks being refited as autoated armored cargo bays. The doors would be reversed to allow cargo to drop out of he bottom. You would have one of these per squad of 3 phantoms. Phantoms come in and release troops then provide fire support while the Spirit comes in and drops vehicle support. Once the area is secure it comes back and unloads its forkfull of cargo.
Spirit can carry more vehicles due to wide gap between these forks. And can carry troops too. So I would treat this dropship as more logistical dropship, capable of carrying more supplies and vehicles while phantom is true Troop transport that can carry either a tank or vehicle. Phantom carrying vehicle capacity is way less than spirit
0:40 Incorrect. The Spirit was in Halo Reach. Although I can see how you could make that mistake. The Phantom was more used in that game. Btw I enjoy your videos
I am interested in your take on mass of ships and vehicles overall in the Halo universe. When you look at the official mass of Covenant ships, they are vastly heavier than similarly sized UNSC ships, for example the CCS is around ten times the weight of the Halcyon Cruiser and the CAS is over twice as heavy as the Infinity. This in a vacuum isn't so bad as one can explain it away by saying the alloys the Covenant use are far denser than the Titanium used in UNSC ships but as you mention in the video the Spirit is only about half the weight of the similarly sized Pelican. This to me seems like another inconsistency kind of like the scaling issues you've brought up before in a different video.
the word kiosk means a small street side shop in german. i see what they did there. the type 27 bring developed by the merachants on a planet that sounds exetremely named after a german word for a small street side shop.
Something that I wish the developers could make, is a game, much like halo reach, where your either a marine, officer, or spartan 4 when the UNSC/Humans first meet the covenant. Almost like how killzone shadowfall was, with an investigation sorta factor, but upmost down into war.
I think you forgot it was in halo reach and is the second time we met that drop ship. There have even been times in halo wars where they used that drop ship.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, but I am absolutely certain *most* larger covenant vessels make use of Impulse drives, like those on the Seraph fighters, and not just repulser drives. I say this because we can clearly see reaction mass being expelled from most covenant vessels aft of the ship. The Spirit however, with the standard model appearing to have zero reaction mass required for lift and subsequent thrust, does appear to make use of repulser engines. * site note: • an impulse drive is a rocket styled reaction mass method of producing thrust that also incorporates the mechanics of a repulser drive simultaneously behind a craft. - Examples of impulse drives include: federation ships in Star Trek (and most other factions in the series for that matter), the UNSC infinity, covenant vessels, and Seraph Fighters as previously mentioned. • Repulser drives are literally the same thing with the exception of the reaction mass rocket, which is excluded and unnecessary for the vessel to move. - Examples of repulser drives: speeders and other hovercraft in Star Wars, monitors like 343 guilty spark (despite the lore stating otherwise, which can’t be correct based on what we see in the game), spirit drop ships, etc.
