I totally agree .... including the absurd replacement of the dual aluminium clocks on the previous gen by this HORRIBLE PLASTIC dial from basics T`s .... jesus .... Aesthetically you’re right; functionally it’s an odd beast. I love riding it, for an hour or two. Even with aftermarket ergonomic adjustments it’s still a sport bike . . . without the high performance.

@@RenatoPinheiro22 The dual clocks make the bike. I own a Moto Guzzi V7 ii and it has the dual clocks but for the iii they went to one single clock. It just ruined the look of the dash.

Absolutely beautiful paintjobs. But why why why did they remove analogue clocks? They were fine as is, they fit perfectly with the RETRO design as a whole. Keep the clocks but maintain a screen for the other stuff, there is ZERO reason to turn the speed and odometer fully digital ffs. There's a reason Moto Guzzi owners love everything about their V7s cept for the stupid digital dash. Adding an IMU, new shocks, and a few HP doesn't quite offset the plastic fenders, lower spec brakes, and dash straight from the 660 bikes. And certainly not at a higher price.
I'm glad they made the RS finally and it looks great, but they made the base model less competitive in its segment. Also no dual clocks is a deal breaker. I've never been happier to have my 2020 model!

It completely spoils the looks of a modern classic, surely they must have looked at the Z900RS? And, what have they done to the tank! I was looking forward to the Speed Twin 1200 update, and the RS version, but sadly, both are off my next bike list. I'm sure the engine is still great, but for me, the updated Speed Twin 1200 has lost something in the looks department. It just doesn't look as purposeful, or as muscular, as previous models. The MT-09 SP is my favourite at the moment, it's a lot cheaper, and has a better electronics package.

Triumph need to stop plastering capacity and model designation in huge font on the tank. A small Speed Twin 1200 badge on the sidecovers, and a Triumph badge on the tank works best for modern retro. Triumph have also stylised the plastic dummy "carburettors and air filters" one step too far, now achieving the cluttered silver plastic look that let down the first R NineT. BMW just cleaned up the side styling on the new R12 NineT, but Triumph hasn't learned from BMW's 10 year old styling gaffe. And the cheap Trident display is simply horrendous.

To each his own…. But I think they should have left the dual gauges, leave the tank alone, leave the paint jobs alone, left the M50 brakes on the standard version, left the increase in HP and spent the money elsewhere. I do like the lean sensitivity ABS and traction control and Stylema brakes. Don’t know about the pegs and handlebars changing to more aggressive position? Might be uncomfortable. The Speed Twin 1200 has been on my target radar for quite some time. Now I have to remove it as a potential purchase.
    - The Dash is unacceptable for a top retro bike.
    - The Headlamp is not fitting with the rest of the bike. Too small , too modern ,too flat. It' s like a copy of the xsr headlamp
    - The tank is too modern
    - The downgrade in breaks and other details should compensate for the better rear suspension so that the price should stays the same instead of rising.
    - Engine upgrades are unnecessary. It should be the main difference between the basic and the RS model
    - "...Modern Geometry..." on a Retro Motorcycle ?? Are they serious. And what was wrong with the geometry on the previous models to begin with?
    - And how about these side panels? If you look only at these panels, you'd think they come from a streetfighter bike rather than a retro one.
Completely disappointed, turning now to Kawa who knows how a proper retro should be

Once again a mix of welcome and unwelcome updates. The paint jobs, suspension, expanded ergonomic options from the factory, and cornering ABS are big wins. The brakes, price, and especially the dash, are misses. I hate that Triumph are foisting this split TFT unit on us with every model update. The added power, updated design, cruise control, and RS-only quickshifter are fine but unnecessary. Great video as always, Rob! Can't wait for more Full Tank.

Oh dear, what have Triumph done! they use cheaper parts on the base model ,yet charge more. The RS gets a cheap dash from the 660. and they want that much for it. They are having a laugh. The 1200 graphic on the tank is so cheap and tacky. The RS in orange is ok but the white and black band at the bottom of the tank cheapens the look. For 14.5 k I would expect nothing less than Ohlins front forks.I was genuinely considering buying the new 1200 RS but not anymore. They can forget it. Looking at all the other comments here Triumph have dropped a huge clanger and have already lost sales on the new RS. What were they thinking.

The new 17" Wire Spoke Tube wheels on the new BMW R12 9T look awesome - and they can easily be converted to tubeless. Triumph needs a set of tubeless wire spokes to be made available for these Speed Twins... Alloys just don't cut it for Retro bikes.. way too modern looking. Wake up Triumph, and offer what will be really attractive to your customers, or risk losing them to BMW. I am now having to decide between the two for next year, and the BMW looks so much better, especially with wire spoke wheels! And they have more power, clean shaft drive...fantastic electronics... I am convinced - BMW next bike. I especially prefer the BMW options for the clocks.

The Speed Twin had seemed like an interesting proposition because I’ve always preferred its look over the Thruxton (controversial, I know). So I ended up buying the new XSR900 because it had all the tech and the heritage styling, it had smoother power delivery than the Triumphs I rode and the Z900RS I rode. So it feels like Triumph sees they have to pick it up and have brought this to the table. Well I don't like the triumph markup on price but I can appreciate the spec list.
