Hey guys the metalpiece was from the broken Bearingseat you see in 10:45 behind the Thumb. Unbelievable that it doesn´t destroy the Gears you are very lucky. I hope i could help. Best regards from germany.
its amazing how many times i see people tear a 2t apart and not replace the crank seals. If you are splitting the case anyways you should just do it...Its cheap insurance and most people have no idea their crank seals are even leaking.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Jack Davion I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Crazy finding a chunk of metal in the engine that you cant explain. If you are doing all that work dont dismiss the reeds. Shine a flashlight in the back of them if you see any light around the edges they need replaced, or atleast cleaned. The reeds are kinda like the intake valve. When there is vacuum in the crank case it can suck in fuel. When there is pressure in the crank case it seals the intake so it can force fuel into the cylinder.
That chunk of metal probably found its way in their by a neighbour who was fed up with the noise lol great little bikes have been updated loads since my yammy 80 in the 70's
It sure looks a lot like one of the engagement dogs from one of the two main gearset shafts in the transmission... Broke off on a bad shift, and bounced around the gear casing before finding a spot to settle without tearing things up further. Probably mildly ok to just re-assemble with the broken bit removed.
That's gotta feel great. I tore mine apart there was a chunk of metal and a screw didn't belong any where and it had a bad habit of shifting up good but not down and hard to find first gear. Ended up buying a used Trany
Would not surprise me if a jealous kid put a peice of steel in the crankcase or sabotage to a race bike before racing. Looks suss though but your lucky it got stuck where it did. Well done on the repairs.
Replace the shift forks, I bet one is bent and you can't see it... I had same issue with a Yamaha Blaster, replaced shift forks and worked perfect after that.
hi quick question... is there meant to be a washer that sits in the case groove where the kickstarter shaft sits into on the case... top left of the case @ 13.10 im putting my yz85 engine together and my kickstarter shaft seems to have washer marking on the end of it (side that sits in the case) so just assuming i might have a missing washer.
What's up my brotha I have a YZ80 that i bought for my son and for some reason it wont start and unfortunately they dont sale the parts for it any more how are you finding the parts for it can you guide me in the right direction thanks and great job on the projects
I think not knowing where that piece of metal came from would make me nuts. What are the chances someone tried to sabotage the engine by dropping that chunk into the engine? I guess it's all moot because you got it back, so no harm no foul. Thanks, Man!!
Am I the only person that sees exactly where that piece came from the whole video? Shift worm cylinder housing... U can see it in the background the entire time... Lol
A full engine gasket set shouldn't cost $60. If you are getting your parts from a shop start using Rocky Mountain atv/mc. The parts are a lot cheaper there and they are the same or better quality. Also for cheap used parts go to revive moto.com
First of all always use new gaskets (liquid gasket between the two engine halves). Secondly don't forget the little bullet. Without the little bullet the clutch won't work.
First of all is the piece steel or aluminum? Looks like part of a bushing for one of the gear shaft ends and at 8:32 when you point out the damage (hit marks) inside it looks like half of the bushing is missing inside the splined shaft end location in the case. Also. Your transmission wouldn’t shift into 5th only. On a progressive transmission it has to go into each gear in order up and down. If you could get 5th then you would have gotten 6th. The only way you can say it won’t go into 5th AND 6th is if it’s a selective transmission like a car or truck has and you can shift from 3rd to 5th and skip 4th. I know it’s a minor point but it is proper terminology.
It looks like some hardened steel... Do you mean the neadle bearing? if thats the piece someone had to take the axle out because it wont come out with the axle in place...
Duett A Traktor I figure it would be hardened steel based on the damage it appears to have caused inside the case. Inside that opening it looks like there is a half circle and half missing. One way to help diagnose it would be to match the radius of the piece to the different shafts.
Didn't get much done? You are selling yourself short. I take days to disassemble an engine. Did you try pulling the piston to see if anything underneath it is broken? That looks like a piece of the piston or casting and not the gears.
esqueue if it was part of the piston it wouldn't of been able to get into the trans case. Crank case and trans are separated hence why you need to run oil in the gas. It definitely looks like part of the case though.
The little piece came from the shift drum where it sits in the case there's a piece broke where it sits in the case nice yz I have a 95 yz80
Those yz85's are one hell of a fun bike to ride! Even for a adult they can be a blast. You'll have fun with it.

Your rite I see it the big round bearing piece is broke
I saw it as well, right away cant believe he didn't catch it!!
Please replace the crank seals while you have the case apart! Its cheap and its another place for air to leak and cause lean condition.
2wheelLove I tore my little Yamaha down to fix the tranny and put it back together, and what do you know the main seals were bad.

Nice one again. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I totally love your videos keep me entertained thanks two thumbs up👍
The wobbling of the cluchbasket doesn't matter 🤟 i ride a kx80 with that wobble after 29 years still 👍
the piece of metal was broken off of the right case where the gear changer sits!!!
That's right
I eyeballed that too.
saw that, most likely fatigued from the bent shaft
@@nicardy100%, good call!!! ( Even though I'm a lil late to the party, lol)
Go to revive moto parts for cheap dirt bike parts a shift drum is 35 dollars just checked
Like the video, but man you should really finish some video series youve got to many projects going on all at the same time greets from holland
Jornt Reitsma I think he just wants to fix the bike since summer is coming
That's gotta feel great. I tore mine apart there was a chunk of metal and a screw didn't belong any where and it had a bad habit of shifting up good but not down and hard to find first gear. Ended up buying a used Trany

finally lol i remeber wathcing the vids when you assembled the bike when it was in boxes
Hey it looks like you are doing a great job finding the problem ! Congrats !!!
I think im having the same issue i bought the bike off someone and I noticed i can only click up a few times down 1 and up 2 this video may help a ton
Had the same issue also neutral was right had to put in second to get in neutral
Ur doing fine man I remade when I first started working on dirt bike keep up the good work
I am using your video to rebuild my own yz85
buy a vertex piston and rings replace crank seals and bearings worth doing the seals since its already apart
congrats on fixing the shifter fork groove thing!
Void X RC didn’t expect to see you here ahaha
Throttle rc4 😁😀😁😀 I enjoy build projects and such. Also get RC ideas 😎
Replace the shift forks, I bet one is bent and you can't see it... I had same issue with a Yamaha Blaster, replaced shift forks and worked perfect after that.
Nice, congratz.
Happy to see you so close to 100k and doing that event with gps
Great work young man see you in Texas.
The clutch basket shaft really should be straightened, that spinning at thousands of RPMs will probably destroy the case over time.
The first item I get when I buy another bike is a factory service manual.
That metal chunk is probably what bent the main shaft
Stop worring about ppl correcting u.. It dont matter if u dont know what that part is called. All that matters is u fixed it. Nice vid
couldn't you take that gear cluster off the shaft and put that shaft in an arbor press and straighten it?
Love your videos bro keep it up!
How do you even make a clutch axle bent?
Hello, my yz85 is leaking transmission oil out of the little breather hole under the water pump. Do you know what would cause this? thank you
hi quick question... is there meant to be a washer that sits in the case groove where the kickstarter shaft sits into on the case... top left of the case @ 13.10

rather B welding, if you are doing the work, might as well just get new piston rings, they may not be needed, but they will be helpful
Brant Kieffer and pretty cheap
Well why not get them, they will increase the power of the engine, you wont have to replace them later, and your engine will run better
Is there a spacer or shim for one of the outside gears? I'm not too sure but one of the gears just comes right off. I think I lost a part. Pls help
Yz 85 takes me back to my adolescence?
new crank seals is a must
Google images has parts diagrams for this engine to reference for reassembly.
Those are called reads and the black rubber piece is the read boot
Have you figured out what ur doin with the rocket and the black pice is called a carb boot
Problem is 9.24 second. It's got to be a ring in the big gear of your right hand . I think
Great videos!
sweet fix. wonder where that piece of metal came from.
You need to find out where that chunk of metal came from. There are likely more to come if you don't find out where it came from.
Love this video man you need to make way more videos on it
What's up my brotha I have a YZ80 that i bought for my son and for some reason it wont start and unfortunately they dont sale the parts for it any more how are you finding the parts for it can you guide me in the right direction thanks and great job on the projects

Shift drum bearing looks like its missing a bit.
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for
YZ gets somme love finaly !!
Buen video
Am I the only person that sees exactly where that piece came from the whole video? Shift worm cylinder housing... U can see it in the background the entire time... Lol
Could a machine shop straighten that shaft?
It is suppose to have 5 gears in the transmission
Yes finally I have been waiting for so long
Can you please make full size version of your atv.
That engine should be in a street kart.
hell yes
and amazon is like what people say which is you get what you pay for. what you should be doing is going to fox powersports
I’m working on a 1980 it175 that needs the crank bearings replaced
just split the case and do the build right . that way. you won't be going back and forth with the repair 1 and done
A full engine gasket set shouldn't cost $60. If you are getting your parts from a shop start using Rocky Mountain atv/mc. The parts are a lot cheaper there and they are the same or better quality. Also for cheap used parts go to revive moto.com
How’d u take off the connecting rod
it can looks realy nice if you paint the engine in black
First of all always use new gaskets (liquid gasket between the two engine halves). Secondly don't forget the little bullet. Without the little bullet the clutch won't work.
The bullet lays in the same shaft as the steel pin at 8:59
Bullet LMAO, it's BB
Would this bike fit a 5,3 12 year old
iv been waiting so long for this 😍
getting close to 100k subs!!!
The best 💯💯💯💯💯
Nice video, were in the world did that metal piece came form?😆
bent shift fork?
J’adore 👌👍

I see however I dout thats where the pice came from cause the cut on the neddle bearning looks to be from factory to let oil trough.
First I am dutch
Misha Crum ik ook
Heuu ik ook
K ook
Volg mijn 2e kanaal het heet beuntv gaat ook over dit soort dingen :)
Ik ook
Good vid
Bout time Chris lol
Yes finally
Rings and bearings and gaskets while you're in there

yeah it is 2T separate crank and trans case
Yup, you guys are completely correct. Brain not working properly I guess lol. I thought 2 stroke and lost all common sense.
its a 5 gear trans dork
Min 16:04 *intake*
Check shift forks
Clean the cases up
Can you sell me the frame?
Your next build should be a 3 wheeler
I bet you won't pin this :(
First
Maybe it's that little piece that was in there that didn't wanted to go in 5th and 6th maybe it it was stuck between the gears
You didnt watch the whole video
you farted at 4:43
time to bu a crank your not fixing that wobble any other way
I think it's a crank shaft key
Get rid of that stock single ring piston. Junk. Get a wiseco
good luck fixing junk just sell it and buy a Honda
