I make automation clips for variation, like for example, playing with the cutoff.
Play around with the velocity of certain sounds for variation as well, especially Pads & Leads in Xpand!
Reverb automations really help

There are no set levels I can give you,your mix is not supposed to be loud,that’s where mastering comes in.
