    I bought an m18 package online from Home Depot included mower, trimmer, chainsaw and blower for $1609. Fantastic deal. Wasn't sure if I'd use or sell the chainsaw. I used after a storm on all the tree branches down in my yard. Everything is great and I love it all. Perfect equipment for a 73yo widow. It's been a challenge knowing what to purchase since my husband passed.

      Just be careful with that chainsaw. Its weight belies its danger. In the first five minutes of use I forgot all my years of training with the gas-powered chainsaws I’ve owned and held a branch in my left hand while foolishly held the saw in my right. The chain caught on something, bounced up and to the left. The saw glove and that fast stopping battery tool saved my index finger and thumb. Both hands behind the bar at all times! Always wear a chainsaw helmet! Your deity be with you!

    I also own Milwaukee mower and it definitely builds up grass. I would recommend to stop using metal scraper. That will scratch deck and cause deck to rust over time. I’ve been using a Stihl tree felling wedge to scrape deck. Works great and it’s made out of a plastic material.

    I feel you on the beefiness, I jumped into the battery mowers a couple seasons ago and have a Ryobi since I was already on the platform. I treat mine like an old gas Murray mower as well. After a season, I want a metal deck mower again. So I’m going to change over to another platform that has a metal deck mower.

  • @claytonloeschjr373
    @claytonloeschjr373 7 месяцев назад +24

    It's a metal mower deck. They all get rust after awhile. But not cleaning the buildup of grass off after every mowing doesn't help. By leaving the grass caked on the metal it holds moisture and the moisture causes the rust. Common sense tells you that. As an old saying goes." You take care of your tools and they will take care of you."

    • @steffendetrick
      @steffendetrick 7 месяцев назад +2

      I came here to say this. Obviously, you can’t keep that metal exposed to constant moisture on the surface like that.

      The paint on the underside of the deck fell off in hand sized sheets on my Milwaukee after only four mows. Would have expected it to last longer as it did not seem to be abrasion that caused the paint to fall off.

      After going through the clean the carburetor ritual every year, I tried ethanol free gasoline. Ever since, the mower has started on first pull every Spring. Three years now. It’s a fantastic experience compared to how it was before! That 15 year old Toro won’t last much longer though, so one day I will go electric and I am looking at the Milwaukee mower.

    Batteries cost more up front, but seem to be easier to maintain- no special trips out to get gas, no mixing, no worries about winterizing or bad gas. Cost vs. convenience. I JUST started buying Milwaukee battery tools 3 weeks ago. We have 2 old Silverleaf Maples going "End Of Lifecycle" in the front yard, and starting to drop large 8"-10" limbs. The corded electric 16" chainsaw wouldn't reach it once plugged in, so I decided to go battery. I went on eBay and found a Milwaukee 16" Chainsaw NEW no Battery/Charger for only $165, so I decided that would be my new direction.
    Turns out the seller was only 3 miles down the road, so I went down to browse their store when I picked up the chaninsaw locally. They had all SORTS of Milwaukee, DeWalt, Ryobi, RIGID, plus other tools. They had String Trimmers, Blowers, Drills, Impacts...dang it, died and went to Power Tool HEAVEN !
    I ended up buying a DeWalt "Self-Propelled" Mower there for only $140, which they delivered for FREE. Well, it didn't "Self" anything, and I didn't like the way it would bog down in the longer grass, plus one or two other issues. I just exchanged it yesterday for the Milwaukee 21" mower. It has no Batteries or Charger, but it was Brand New and only $299 with the Rear Bag. I even got Full Credit for the DeWalt I bought from them, and they delivered the Milwaukee for FREE !
    Now I have a few other Milwaukee M18 tools, but need a chance to use them. Still got a limb sitting in the front yard to cut up though...

I would love to get the mower as a bare tool and replace my cheap corded electric mower, but the Milwaukee isn’t sold as a bare tool. Sad face. ^This mf knows what he’s saying & just to be clear he was saying that when it only charges to 3 bars it’s generally that one of the cell banks inside has reached maximum voltage and once that happens as a safety feature, it thinks it’s full and cuts off charging to all the batteries and all banks because power tool chargers do not charge like RC planes which actually balance all the cells individually well to my knowledge none of the power tool companies chargers do zero balancing more so set a maximum voltage cutoff and that’s it, so inevitably when they drift apart (even more noticeable if using high demand tools like a mower or chainsaw is the worst I’ve seen ) but if one of the banks is at 4 V or 4.1 V it cuts off charging to all the banks, so then you have banks that arent being charged fully and then they continue to drift further apart, and it gets more apparent and you have to take the battery apart and balance them all back to the same voltage and it’s seemingly always the center cell banks but that’s why on high demand tools I try to strictly use batteries under warranty

I only need it for trim work as we use a sitting down lawnmower for the rest of the property. Even though we have Milwaukee batteries already (for tools), that rusted deck may be the game changer. Cleaning the underside every time I mow? That might be a bridge too far. Weird - the inside of the deck on our gas Honda doesn't have any rust. What is Honda doing that Milwaukee isn't? Still thinking... And thanks for the video.

    EGO batteries are junk. In 7 years I've gone through 3 batteries, a 5mAH, a 7.5mAH and a 10mAH. The 5 died a month after the warranty expired, and the other two started to exhibit the same sort of bad charge cycles as is in the video just after their warranty expired. Red rings of unhappiness regularly which is different from them overheating or having a low charge. I hold the button down to reset the battery management controller which makes them behave for a little while, but then they act up again. Smells like designed obsolescence to me.
    I was hoping for an EGO scarifier soon, but I think I'll be changing to a completely different ecosystem... I guess I won't be getting that EGO battery powered ALLETT.

    @aaronbounds1336 This is the exact reason I decided to go with the milwaukee mower. I am in theory 50% through with life and well.... Money will return, time will not. So if I can knock 10 to 15 minutes every week screwing with a gas mower off of my schedule.... for $1,000.... over the course of 5 years, that is EXTREMELY worth it to me. Yes we have to charge it, but, I am finding I can get three mows out of it per charge and that's with 6.0 batteries. I haven't even opened the 12.0s it comes with yet.
    So to be able to walk out the door, walk up to the mower and hit the bar and the blade switch... then take off mowing, then stop, put it back up and not worry about it, is very worth the time to me. I have two acres to take care of and I use a JDx350 as the main mower and have had a couple different gas mowers to mow the inside of the ditch line (20 minutes) and the perimeter of the various yard areas (10 minutes stopping and starting about 20 times). It always seemed like a gas mower would become hard to start after a year or two of this short running. A tree fell on my recent Toro AWD one that I never quite liked.
    If there is one thing I could change about the mower, it's this, I'd love the option to be able to plug the mower in to charge directly, but, the process to charge the batteries is easy and fast.
