13:34 Oops! Small editing mistake here, forgot to cutout my countdown to the next point lol! Otherwise I hope this guide helped, the combos I showed at the end were just simple bnb’s that could be done from any launcher with/without wall. IMPORTANT! I forgot to mention that Victor can regain heat by using any move that uses his sword! So F1+2 and other moves like it will regain heat! To my MK peeps: it’s been a while since I’ve done an MK video, but that ain’t going anywhere! The desync definitely killed my enjoyment of the game, but it’s much better now so I’m back on it. Gonna keep doing guides on it, and possibly do a road to elder god one of these seasons! Thanks for watching!
As a new fighting game player I found this guide to be straight to the point and informative. This is my first game I actually want to learn and after searching for victor guides I finally found a great one. I had exponential growth in the beginning and I’ve seemed to hit a plateau but thanks to you that’s hopefully over now
That's great to hear! The beauty of the fighting game journey is that there's no end to it. You're constantly going to get better, improve, and find new tech and such. With that being said, thanks for watching and I really hope this helps you get past that plateau!
So it seems like Perfumer stance is where a lot of Victors sauce is. You need to fish for a hit off your Back 1, Down Back 1 1, or your 2 1 to cancel in. Then, when you cancel into perfumer, you USUALLY want to 2 2 and watch for a confirm. If your 2 2 hits, you cancel into Lai stance; but if your opponent blocks it, you want to either press 1 to keep the string safe or press 1+2 if you think they’ll try to duck the 1 for a punish. My only thought is about Lai stance… It’s like they made Victors kit with the intention of him working to enter Lai stance so he can start mixing his opponent with 50/50s, but then decided to make all of his 50/50 options in Lai stance slower than 10F and all punishable on block…? His 1 is 13F startup and punishable on block, his 3 is 17F startup and punishable on block, and his 4 is 18F startup and punishable on block. Why would any opponent respect your 50/50 after cancelling from Perfumer stance into Lai stance right in their face when they can just mash jab and beat out ALL of your options? It’s either they jab you out of your stance on reaction or they just block your bootleg 50/50s and punish you anyways. It would be nice if they made his Lai stance low-profile high attacks so your opponent couldn’t just mash out and had to respect the incoming mix (especially after you had to get at least two confirms to safely enter Lai stance in the first place).
Honestly I think it’s meant to be that way, because you can loop into perfurmer to wait to confirm, and that whole time you can mix in lows and mids, and depending on the stage, get the upf 1+2 grab for a floor break. I find Iai stance best for combo damage and wall carry, or when I do the 222 string or df42, and instead of using Iai completely for 50/50, I find it better on whiff punish or going for the low parry
Little correction here: Victor can recover heat with other moves besides iai d1+2, he can recover heat also with iai moves that unsheet the sword, like 1+2, 1-1+2, 4-2 and so
Yesh after he didn’t say F1+2 to regain hea I closed the video, he doesn’t have enough experience with Victor to do a game-plan, i made it to mighty ruler without a gameplan and was looking for some more setups, but this video was more of a character review than gameplan.
That counter hit low launcher is the bane of my existence, I don’t think it should lead to such a dmging combo , I feel that I have to play around it the whole match
Great video! Only thing I can say when you say forward and four I have to figure out which it’s great you have the move commands up! Very useful video and tips! I’m surprised how much coverage and how simple victor is to use
i think his u1+2 might be the most broken move when in heat, it goes over lows, mids, highs and rage arts and if they block it they take massive chip damage, it's hard to side step and plus on block i just spam it until it runs out 🤣
I'm really only watching this video so I can find the gaps in Victor's armor. As a dragunov player, I really don't like this character. I find him hard to punish, against someone that is somewhat competent. I mean lore wise I wanna be able to beat him, but just from a gameplay aspect I want more knowledge against him.
Victor is probably one of the hardest if not the hardest character to punish in Tekken 8 imo. Tons of safe buttons with a lot of push back, and of course he has retreating steps after some of them so he can create counter hit situations easily. My biggest tip for playing against Victor would be to learn which side is his weak side and just sidestep a bunch. In my time of playing as and against other Victors that seems to be something that works really well. He may have these super long far reaching buttons, however they don’t really catch people moving to either side. They also have a lot of recovery on whiff, so you can get a punish with a launcher. However, this isn’t full proof as Victor has 2 really good tracking buttons in his kit. Otherwise, his running 2, back 1, back 3, and other strong buttons of his are sidesteppable as they have a lot of reach in front of him, but not around him. I hope this sort of helps, I know it’s a very generic answer for Tekken.
@@cryingman7679 yeah I struggle to punish him most times when I try to he either recovered or hit me while I'm trying to punish with a counter. I'd say Steve is also a hard match up as well. But I'll take these into consideration.
Hi, it's my first time playing tekken, and I play victor, I'm hard stuck Garyu in rank and I don't know if it's just hard to rank up with victor at this level or I just suck. I find victor really cool, i tried to practice other characters but Idk if I should commit the time or just stick with victor, since I'm new, I'm not sure what is the most efficient way to be better in this game. Great video btw, hope you could help. Cheers!
From what you've said it sounds to me like you hit a plateau which is completely normal in any fighting game, especially if you're new! What that means is you're not necessarily improving as much as you were before, but on the bright side you're not getting worse. It's very hard to give advice on hitting plateaus because I don't know how you play and everyone has different habits/playstyles. A lot of the work is gonna have to come from your end and you will have to identify where your shortcomings are, and how to break some bad habits you may have that are holding you back from getting better. This is probably one of the hardest things a new player faces with fighting games because you WILL improve, but the results are not going to be as extreme or overt as going from a brand new player to an intermediate player. These are typically gonna be seemingly small things that end up making a big difference in the long run. So here's what you can do to identify where you're going wrong. Tekken is blessed with a replay feature where you can watch your matches and even take control and figure out what your best options are in certain situations. DO NOT watch matches that you won because you're not going to learn anything watching matches that you won. You want to watch the ones you lost, so you can see where you're making mistakes. Maybe your movement is lacking, or you're playing too aggressive/defensive, your footsies are lacking, or your just letting your opponents whiff buttons; the list goes on and on. There's just a lot that can hold a player back that on the surface/in the moment you won't see, but once you actually go back and watch the replays you can identify them. So, across matches you lost try to find things that you keep doing that are holding you back. Truth of the matter is, you can get pretty far in any fighting game's ranked when you don't even have a solid foundation with basic fundamentals. Some people's entire gameplan is attack attack attack and they get far with that, but once they go against someone playing solid they completely fall apart. It's gonna take some effort, but DON'T give up! You are improving even if you don't realize it. Getting to a point where your gameplay is solid all around is something that everyone goes through, even the best players. P.S. Try to find other people that want to get better as well! It's more fun and you'll improve faster if you have others around you to all help each other. This can be discord servers, forums, people you play online if you want to ask them, and so on and so forth. I hope this helps!
