OMG I took a trip to the Islander at Lake Havasu and watching your nice video I realized you parked in the exact place my wife and did with our 5th wheel. How cool is that? I throughly enjoyed your video you two
Love Oatman, Went years ago. Came from Laughlin so did not go that winding road. It was 115 degress and the "coolest" place was the little caves the donkeys go in to cool down.
I rode a motorcycle back in the late 87, when I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Gordon, Augusta, GA. Had a Honda 750 4k. It was 80 degrees out. My best friend went to college at GA Tech. I rode my bike from Augusta to Atlanta (3hrs I think), had a rain storm, got soaked, stopped under over pass, then continued. I was freezing doing 65 down the interstate soaking wet. Just shows you what wind chill can do.
WOW. Loved your video, and the ride to Oatman. Been there in December to visit An adopted Daughter. Its fun watching you guys travels, specially the Taos New Mexico trip because i grew up there. Now in CA, Miss the desert. Love watching your videos, stay safe and safe travels.
I love riding along on Lucille with you. Thanks so much for the fun music and all the cameras angles. I truly appreciate it. Too bad the Sidewinder road was not smoother but the views were beautiful.
I will be a bit chatty, apologies: We are Arizonians so it's fun to watch you guys driving all the familiar roads and seeing the familiar places. Depending on what you like to see when you are driving through the country it gets pretty light on the views until you get to the river on the way to Lake Havasu. Nice work backing, anyone who has not done it has no idea how challenging it can be! Of course, April is the time to be even though you got some heat, but if you get there in July and August the temperature reaches nearly 150,000,000 degrees! The Sidewinder Road is a blast especially on a bike for sure! Anyone who wants to visit be careful of those Burros standing in the middle of the road as you come around the bends, no joke, they will ruin your day so don't just relax and cruise through. Oatman is a place to see once, really touristy with mostly shops selling the typical touristy stuff. BEWARE of the Donkeys when you are there as you only saw a few of them. If you visit and there are little baby Donkeys, don't try and pet them because they WILL bite! They try and put a collar or something on the babies to warn you to not try and pet them. And you are not allowed to feed them unless you buy the special pellets in the shops. Pro Tip, they east so much of that it might be a waste of money so if you are clever, bring a pocket full of baby carrots and sneak them some of those. And don't visit in the summer... it is just way too hot.
I am crazy in love with the motorcycle ride videos! They are beautiful! I appreciate that you show the signs, too!!! Tara, you are crazy committed to gettin’ that coverage, girl! All those cameras, all those angles! Cannot Thank you enough for all y’all do for us! We’ve taken a number of your suggestions from your product reviews, too. Thx so much - safe travels and good health!
Our travels have taken us on Route 66 several times but we never heard of Oatman and the donkeys. Now we gotta get there the next time we head west! Thanks.
Becky and I really enjoy your videos, we met at Tampa RV Show a couple years ago, and whatever Tara has been able to do for her health seems to be working, keep those videos coming!
Welcome to our home town! You were in Havasu on my (Stan’s) birthday ! We would have loved to show you around. We did our shake down trip to Las Vegas with our new GD Influence that weekend. Maybe next time we can show you Lake Havasu from the water POV on our boat. To be honest, you were one of our biggest inspirations 4 years ago when we started this journey. We also have friends in common, Dan and Ava. Maybe we will meet down the road someday safe travels! Stan and Rhonda PS Thanks for showing is around Oatman. We still haven’t made it there.
Oh my gosh, that was fun. I was at Lake Havasu in the 1980's not too long after the London Bridge was brought to the US and put back together. Have to tell ya, that area didn't have half as much going on then as it does today. Fun rid to Oatman guys. Stay safe, it's getting kind of crazy out there.
I live in Lake Havasu. Best time to go is in the winter. Summer is boating and lake activity and is very hot. Late sept and into Oct is wonderful there. Glad you got to see our little town, hope you return someday! Safe travels😊
Only Changing Lanes can make navigation directions sound sexy (4:44). Loved seeing y'all sporting bandanas whipping around on Lucille. Safe travels, Chad, Tara, & Daisy.🙏🏾💙❤️🤍👍🏾
Like deja vu all over again. We visited Lake Havasu City last December/January. Had a couple of meals at the Turtle Grill and dined at the same restaurant in Oatman; it was the first time I’d ever driven a segment of Route 66. We took our travel trailer to LHC but, due to winter weather/road challenges on the return trip to Reno, we’re doing an Airbnb in 2025. Thank you for a great video!
Dogs in lake look like lab. It hot thier my aunt alway say come in winter when temp are better. Donkey are good on a farm they help keep the livestock safe. Your bike ride looks like you had a nice ride beside the roads being bad . Oatman AZ looks like a cool town. Enjoy your travels. I will be taking a trip in Oct. I like that you guys stop at loves travel center because I used to work for the company in zanesville great place .
Man, you guys picked another great place to visit. Everything there looked great. It's a shame that the road wasn't in better condition. Those roads are still fun, but you never really get to relax and look around much. God bless, and y'all stay safe out there traveling around.
We lived in Havasu. Absolutely loved it there. Views are spectacular. It does get extremely hot in the summer. A pool and dual A/C units are required. 🤙🏻❤️🇺🇸
Nice ride. It's funny how roads get a reputation. I think I've been on the tail of the dragon 3 times, once before it was named and twice afterward. Now I have to get the sidewinder. Keep the good stuff coming and give Daisy a treat for me.
The road report is helpful as that section (along with others) is on the motorcycle list of rides for me too. It would be fun to take the lifted truck on some of them dirt roads.
How fun!!! You visited our summer playground. We were just there labor day weekend 🔥 on the river. Have a house In Bullhead City and boat up and down the river during the summer and offroad in the winter. We added to the dollars on the ceiling in the Oatman Hotel restaurant 😊 Those donkeys 🫏 are all the way up to Lake Mohave, Seen them out there drinking from the lake. The donkeys in Oatman are spoiled with the visitors feeding them. Hope you guys had a good time.
Loved all the music choices Tara! And you did good not being nervous on that ride, that road would have made me so nervous on the back of the bike 😂 it was not in great shape.
5 years ago we rented a Cruise America RV and drove all of Route 66 from CA to IL. We loved Oatman! We drove the RV along that stretch of road and it was definitely tight. We are about to hit the road full time with our 42’ 5th wheel and plan on eventually doing Route 66 again but I don’t think we will be able to take it on that stretch of road! We hope to meet you on the road someday soon.
Been going to Havasu for 5 decades. Still have the same 1982 Nordic 23 boat stored out there. Its changed over the years, more dense, more stores, more people/homes etc. The video trip to Oatman was really nice folks. It's a neat little trip to take now and then or further up to Laughlin if you think you got a lucky streak on. Definitely not a pleasure to be there in July, August & September due to the hot hot days and hot evenings, like 90 at 2 am !
What an excellent rough-road ride. But there was a short clip of you on an extremely rough, tight curve and I found myself leaning slightly going "Ooph! Ooph!!" We're former bikers having sold ours a year ago in favor of camping more. Well over 100,000 miles each on our various bikes. My 3rd bike, a 2003 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic, which I had purchased new, had 70,000 on her the day she sold. Husband's final bike was a Triumph Thunderbird. It was certainly emotional days as they each sold. Ride safe.
I know you are an accomplished rider and this isn't criticism. I only mention this because it happened to me. While backing down a ramp on my 800# bike I was going a little fast so I grabbed the front brake, to no avail. The front tire is not enough to stop the bike, it just slides down the ramp, scared the bejeebers out of me. Now I leave the bike off and in first gear. Then if I need to slow it down I slip the clutch a little bit (with the front brake) and can stop the bike on the ramp. Your bike is beautiful, I would hate to see it hurt.
They can leave their truck for up to 15 minute. That is what we were told at a truck fill station. Now most truckers are very aware that others need to fill to
Because there was a lot more room on that side. Going the other way, I would have needed to cut almost 90 degrees around the adjacent carport structure.
The road surface you showed in the video when leaving Oatman and returning to your campsite did not look like asphalt to me, it looked like a paving material called "macadam", which is a less expensive alternative to modern day asphalt and in the historical timeline of road paving materials precedes asphalt. Chad, being the "nerd" that he kinda is, may already know this and could maybe confirm that the road was indeed macadam, not asphalt. In case neither of you know, macadam consists of ground up rubber bits coated with tar, versus asphalt which is mostly mixed gravel combine with tar. Macadam is a less stable road paving material and deteriorates due to weather and use much more quickly than asphalt, which is why it's no longer very widely used in most developed countries, but is still very much in use worldwide. It was originally used for airport runways and still is in many part of the world, as it is much more stable than either a dirt surface or compacted gravel. Another difference is the macadam is usually applied directly over a compacted dirt and/or gravel surface, while asphalt is almost always applied over several layers of substrate materials. FYI, I am not an engineer of any kind, but when exploring a possible new campground earlier this summer, I drove on a road that was the usual asphalt but then turned into a road surface I was unfamiliar with before it turned into a graded and compacted gravel road and later into a dirt road. I was curious about that transitional material between asphalt and gravel, so when I got home, I looked it up and learned about macadam. I now realize that many of the roads I've driven over during my 50+ years of exploring the less visited parts of the US were of macadam construction.
I hate it when the truckers pull forward from the pumps, park at the line and go inside to take a shower and get lunch. Then they wonder why you are upset when they come back. I kown it's hard, but there is a whole world around them. They really need to know our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

You have a great lakeside resort spot, albeit a bit tight to back into with your long RV - but Chad nailed it! Oatman looked like a fun touist place.

Just noticed the bike looks a bit different Chad...? Congrats man.
Another awesome video guys...looks so nice down there!
Riding to Oatman on a motorcycle is the best! Have done it a few times.
Thanks for sharing your adventures…I gotta admit, my favorite part of this video was the C-130 flybys.
I wish I would have caught the whole thing on camera!
Oatman area has EPIC sunsets!

WOW Tara !!! Rocking 2 cameras off the back of the bike. Great shots. Chad, did you tie your bike up to that hitching post ? LOL !!!
That's a breathtaking drive to Oatman.
We was out there two years ago, and did that ride, love it . Thanks for bringing back memories.

If you're ever in Quartzsite again, stop at Silly Als for lunch or dinner. Great place! Not much else in Q except for heat!
I believe next step, she needs her own bike. LOL
You missed a very cool bar in Topock. It is very interesting and has a pool in the bar.

You guys going to be there in Havasu next month? We will be arriving the 1st of October. Be awesome to me you folks and maybe even go on a ride.
No... We're back East now. 😊
Looks like a fun drive but how would you like taking the dually on that road to Oatman?
I’ll bet you guys have done Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee and North Carolina ?
Yep! ruclips.net/video/YtwdNYZaRH0/видео.html 😎
#1, I think your calendar is a bit off. #2, how was the sautéed turtle?
My wife likes the music you use in your videos. Do you have a playlist of the soundtracks?
Thank you! 😊 Please see: changinglanesrv.com/faq/?Display_FAQ=2178

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a pontoon boat with twin 450’s. Don’t think I would ride in that.
Does Daisy ride on the motorcycle?
Sometimes, but not much.. See: ruclips.net/video/UYr-DeCXAt0/видео.html
Havasu was 116 today.
Yea.. spring was much better for sure! 😀

Never get behind a swift truck for Fueling
Why would you blind side it in?

It's 98? Well, it's a dry heat. You guys are from the South - is that true? 98 in NC in the summertime is MISERABLE
98 in the shade out west isn't that bad. The humidity, or lack thereof, makes a huge difference. Yes.. 98 degrees on the East coast is miserable.
