Hey Spartan, I was wondering if you would think about making a video on the Somers American destroyer if you have it. It’s one of my favorites and I’m interested to see how you play it.
Regarding 'Fully Packed' the main benefit is the additional 10% range when next to an ally, which i've found helps (mostly on my IJN cruisers) Seems like you were only considering the reload boost of 5%. Do you feel that's too niche of a support characteristic?
Remember when Wargaming at least paid lip service to the idea that battleships are supposed to counter cruisers? Even going so far as to (laughably) claim battleships are the most powerful ship type. I sometimes wonder if they ever play their own game.
@@napiersliberty Destroyers counter cruisers if you're good enough. Battleships counter desoyers if you're good enough. A tier 3 ship counters a tier 6 ship if you're good enough. You're not really saying anything by pointing out any one ship type CAN counter another. Obviously if one player dosn't know what he's doing he can be countered by one who does. And that wasn't the point. The point was that, essentially, so far from being the most powerful ship type, battleships are being power crept by ships they're supposed to counter.

The point, that seems to still be escaping you, is that legendary cruisers are becoming so powerful that battleships are having difficulty countering them. A little bit of a tangent but battleships, btw, do not hard counter anything, in fact, they are the only ship type that actually can be hard countered were evey other ship type is merely countered. (There is a difference between countered and hard countered). Hard countered means they basically can't fight back, can't do damage back. Countered means something has a significant advantage over you. In the case of a battleship against a destroyer the destroyer can do damage, sometimes a lot, and the battleship cannot do damage back unless the destroyer makes a mistake i.e. gets too close or gives himself away by firing his guns. A destroyer (and carriers to some degree) can hard counter a battleship, a cruiser can merely counter a destroyer as the destroyer can still fight back, still do some damage back (possibly a lot if they manage to torp him). A battleship can counter a cruiser but a cruiser can still fight back, still do damage, sometiems a lot of damge with torps and/or fires if it's pure guns. But when you give cruisers ever-increasing dpm, and you protect them with generous over-pen and dispersion mechanics, you are both making battleships increasingly vulnerable to damage farming and being unable to remove even careless cruisers who park themselves broadside behind an island and spam HE (which makes for incredibly boring, passive gameplay). See what I'm getting at? Under very specific situations it's possible to blast the hell out of ships like Shimakaze or all the high dmp cruiser spammers, that's not the point, the point is the bigger picture. Whenever you add things to the game like new ships it effects everything else. This is why I alluded to the fact that I wondered if WG is even bothering playtesting these new ships.
@@177SCmaro I'm having to play battleships right now for missions and it freaking succkkks for this reason. Fire into a broad side cruiser at 13km with BB guns, get troll dispersion, over pens and do 3k dmg having to wait 25 seconds to try again. The same shot from a 180mm - 203mm heavy cruiser would have obliterated half that ship and you'd likely finish it on the second reload. Sole reason I started picking up heavy cruisers is because they can actually support the DD and KILL CLs and DDs that may approach the cap to kill ur DD.
@@joereality1664 It's a strange thing were smaller guns reliably do more damage, isn't it? All of that is many of the reasons I argue that battleships are the highest skill cap in the game and require the most patience - patience not necessarily in things like choosing your shot or thinking ahead but, far more so than any other ship type, in waiting for the game to ALLOW you to do damage, to punish bad players, ect. I see way too many players of evey stripe, not just cruisers, getting away with bad positioning, or simply not knowing any better, due to this game's overpen and dispersion mechanics. I agree there should be some degree of dispersion, of randomness, but overpen seems to be a band-aid to protect bad players. If my shells are plunging right through the side of a cruiser or destroyer and out the bottom shouldn't I be causing floods and incapacitations in those cases?
@@177SCmaro Yup. Literally just played a game in Nevada, 2 Danaes come out BROADSIDE in front of me at 5KM. I couldn't sink either of them, just got overpens through that giant citadel.. switched to HE out of frustration because that actually did more damage and at least destroyed torpedo tubes. Again, if I was in a heavy cruiser, it'd be a hugely different outcome. They'd both have been dead on the first salvo. The battleship role right now feels weird.. they seem to primarily be there to tank damage and lead a push forward. But as they're pushing into torpedos and high DPM cruisers, they can't really do that properly. So you usually just have battleships fighting other battleships at max range too scared to push forward.

Imo legendary tier is the, to put it politely, least fun tier to play at. Additional cruiser spam is just more reason to avoid it. Every once in a blue moon I still try Legendary tier but have been disappointed each time for a long time now. And the long wait times for a game indicate to me not a whole lot of other people play here too. Imo tier 4 and 5 is the best to play at. I consider 1,2, and 3 to be kinda tutorial tiers, tier 6 on its own is fine but getting tier 7 ships tilts it towards bad. And teir 7 itself is were all the island camping and super passive gameplay really shows itself with a vengeance.
You think the ships in legends is broken think again because there are superships in the pc version of the game and the superships are the most broken in the entire game

I don't have Einstein but I run Madden as an inspiration and it cuts it down by a few seconds and it's definitely noticeable. The extra little reload reduction is also nice.

In WoWs on the computer theres a tier 11 des moines called Annapolis, its a Des Moines with an extra turret and a 3 round burst

No I was saying 16" guns and up can overmatch her 27mm bow and citadel her through the bow.

34.5 turret traverse speed is a big no no for me✋most my bb turns faster than it. I would use Einstein instead for overall performance.
