Young man you are gifted at explaining things. My 10yr old son wanted a Chinese water dragon & I bought it thinking it was simple to care for like a hamster. Lol. We’ll I’ve had to learn & spend more money than I anticipated but I’m thankful for your channel. You’ve made it easy and fast for me to learn all I needed to know. You would be a great science teacher one day if you’re trying to decide what to be when you go to college.
my friend impulse bought a chinese water dragon and never formed an attachment to it. i have two leopard geckos, and i hope to give his lizard a better life.. i’m not as prepared as i should be but your vids are very helpful. thanks!
Not at all! I’ve had freshly hatched babies kept with basking spot areas as high as 125 on the cork bark during peak afternoon hours. Just make sure your heat lamps are a safe distance so the lizard’s back isn’t near the heat lamp (I always aim for about 12” distance minimum) The key is offering a wide temperature gradient so the water dragon can regulate its body temperature as it sees fit. The more options you give them, the better!
Yeah. His cage is 4’ tall (so 12” shorter than Harriet’s). However the ledge still gives him an entire 6’ section to climb above the ground as well as his various branches.
I have a couple baby chinese water dragons living harmoniously together currently. About what size/age will they begin quarreling and need to be separated?
So I have a huge chinese water dragon enclousure. I have a hallogen bulb on one side and a night lamp and a cereamic heat bulb both turned on, on the other side. I only get like 77 degrees in my enclosure during the day. Put this with the fact that my chinese water dragon hasn't shed in awhile makes me think I need to up it, should I put a hallogen bulb in the other fixture? they're sitting on top of the enclosure sitting on holes premade for the lights, should I get cages like you have to have them elevated? Thanks
Having multiple halogens helps a lot in raising the ambient air temperature. Ideally you want it right at 85 during the day, so if your daytime “high” is 77 degrees, then I would highly suggest you add a higher wattage halogen to both fixtures to raise temps.
@@AlexsAgamids Could I put both bulbs in that one duel lighting fixture? One would be a basking spot and one would pretty much go from the bulb to the floor so it could heat up the bottom as well, I just dont want them to blow up on me
You could do that. But when you have too many bulbs focused in one area. You risk there being “too hot” of a spot. That’s why I suggest having single dome lights in multiple areas for both basking spots as well as ambient heating.

Very Helpful Video
Well done, great explanation 👍

These are very informative. Just curious. Have they both suffered from nose rub?
My male has suffered from nose rub. My female on the other hand has not.
Does Ozzie's cage have enough space for him to climb? It looks not to tall like Harriet's enclosure. And nice video!

@@AlexsAgamids thanks! Glad to see him and Harriet enjoy their cages!

Separate them ASAP.
@@AlexsAgamids Ok thank you, will do!
Hay so we’re did you buy your tiny temp gun
I got it through a video sponsor.
I’d suggest purchasing a higher quality temperature gun online or at a local reptile shop.
@@AlexsAgamids ok and same thing with the other thing
more great info :)
Thank you! :D
