Great video as always Alex 🙌🏻. I live in the uk and our vet was soo happy that we have our boy Cali in a tank with Arcadia bulbs. That uvb and calcium is why he had the best bones she had seen in a long time in a X-ray. Massively worth the money in my opinion!
ZooMed UVB bulbs are just as good as Arcadia’s UVB bulbs. If you have ZooMed’s UVB setup properly then Arcadia won’t do that much of a superior job. There’s really nothing to be jealous about. Arcadia UVB bulbs are available in the US. Stores that sell them are light your reptile, reptile basics, lll reptile, Pangea reptile, the biodude, and Josh’s frogs.
Hey Alex, I know you use two 36" UVB light fixtures but do you think one 46" will be okay for a 48" cage or do I need to split it up and have two of them angled like you do?
Hello! For a 48” enclosure. Running a 46” T5 UVB lamp diagonally will work well! Just make sure that the lizard has ample opportunities to escape the UV levels and regulate.
I’ve always used a string. I put the top on their nose and work it down their body to the tail tip. Mark where it ends, then straighten it out for an accurate answer.
I’m very close friends with Ryan McVeigh. And as I said in the video: compact fluorescent UVB bulbs do work. They simply don’t emit a high enough UVI that a Chinese water dragon needs within a necessary basking distance that a T8 or T5 bulb would. However in terrestrial enclosures where less height is needed, a CFL will absolutely provide enough of a UVI given it is much closer to the lizard in a shorter enclosure, versus a taller one. (The graphs I showed in the video give the UVI ratings of a CFL, T8, & T5 from some of the more popular brands)
… so…. I have to spend 50 extra dollars upon the 600 dollars I spent on my baby water dragon…… when the reptile keeper I got him from supplied me with one of the “crap uvb bulbs” Jesus Christ
Unfortunately a lot of information out there pertaining to the captive care needs of Chinese water dragons is incredibly mis-informative. Hopefully this video has helped you!
Your enclosures for your Water Dragons look cool always
Great video on basic UVB setup!

This video and information should help anyone who is trying to determine what they need and how to set up their UVB light!
Nice video! Glad to see you uploading regularly now! When your tegu gets her new cage you should make a video on it!
Good video. I agree. The bars have the best range.
This was definitely a very helpful video for everyone that uses uvb for their reptiles! I use the linear ones as well. Great video Alex!
Thanks Zach!
I appreciate the feedback!
Great video as always Alex, very informative and easy to understand
Thank you Wayne!

I have GOOD news! you can find arcaidia at your local petsmart now, atleast here in NJ xD
Yes!
I was walking through my local PetSmart the other day (had to get dog food).
I saw they had the T5 6%, 12%, and 14% bulbs in stock!
Remember me, baby water dragon , 2 baby water dragons pooping crazy everywhere
Love your content bro.
wow 10.0 for water dragon
do you think the size of crest related with UVB than hunidity?
I honestly think it’s both. Having good humidity allows the crest to shed. While the UVB allows proper growth.
@@AlexsAgamids See It also can say iguanas! thanks for replying to me
Hey what would you say is the most accurate way to measure a water dragon and what would be the best tool to use?
I’ve always used a string. I put the top on their nose and work it down their body to the tail tip. Mark where it ends, then straighten it out for an accurate answer.
Hey what does it mean if my water dragon try’s to eat not fully digested food in his poop?
It’s just something they do.
Some more than others. It’s nothing to worry about.
@@AlexsAgamids ok
You might want to listen to Ryan McVeighs discussion on UV on the Monitor Keeping Podcast before you start dismissing compact cfls.
