      @Panda Red What do you mean ? Can't make a joke about tics ? If you take tics super serious all the time it only ends in depression. You have to laugh at last at the funny ones , to keep up good spirits.

    • @terryfeynman
      @terryfeynman 5 лет назад +2

      @Panda Red Ah, kk gotcha ;) You thought I claimed she really takes drugs I guess, hell no.
      I know several people with tourettes, and they all agree on one thing : tourette is way easier to handle when people do not take it super serious all the time. Laughing is by far one of the better reactions, as long as you laugh about the tics and not the person. Often people get angry at people with tourette, and think they do it for attention or to mess with people. Some even claim they would be faking it, so they can get away with saying these things, when in reality they supposedly knw exactly what they are doing and can fully control what they do and say, which is beyond ridiculous. So you can see hy laughing about the tics, if they are funny, is by far one of the best reactions ;)
      Also when you make fun of the tics, instead of being super serious about them, you do make them easier to handle with. If you are super serious about them you often cause anxiety in people with tourette's, which leads to them trying to suppress the tics, which only makes it worse. But laughing relaxes you, which can help to make them less prominent.
      Last but not least laughing about ridiculous tics normalizes them. I mean if someone who does not have tourette's would say these things you would laugh as well. Normalizing tics helps a lot to feel accepted and less like a freak, know what I mean ? Feeling normal and accepted is very important for anybody of us, but people with tourette's are often seen as not normal. So treating them like anybody else is a huge help, and a nice change of pace in a way. It also helps a lot to support them when anybody reacts angry to their tics, or in other ways negative. I mean sure, it is not easy to calm down a pissed of mother, when you just taught her kid a bunch of new swear words (just for example) but being supportive and trying to help explain definitely makes it easier.
      In one of her videos she talks about a nurse in a doctors office she went to. She got swearing tics, and the nurse actually asked her to stop swearing, that is not allowed here. WTF ? She knew Claire has tourette's, but obviously no idea what tourette even is. That was not the office of a general practitioner, but it was for people with mental problems/mental illness. She really should have know better, and she should also have known that putting her in the spotlight like that only makes things worse. How can a doctor like this have a nurse that is THIS ignorant ? But this also demonstrates a sad fact. IF even a nurse in a doctors office reacts like that, you can imagine how bad the general public can and will react.

Those are the ones I can think of RN. Letting out air like she did. But no vocal and I think its just a nervous thing . I can almost control it and so.etimes I forget all about them...strange

    • @Hi-xn2su
      @Hi-xn2su 4 года назад

      Same but I have not told anyone and I hide it from everyone except for close friends. Not even my parents know. My main tics are had jerking, squeaking, jazz hands, I snap and then do the kitty hands thing and shake them, I do a weird thing with my arm where it almost feels like I dislocate it but only a tiny bit and then it goes back in a few seconds, the (I think) radical sign with my hand and I shake it, and I also clench my fists. I don’t feel like there’s really any point in getting diagnosed because I don’t tic often but when I do tic They happen a lot. I can also hold ticks pretty easily although they make tics worse when I let them out. Idk this is just a rant.

    I found your channel after watching a lot of videos from "Sweet Anita" who is a Twitch streamer with Tourette's who also posts vids on RUclips. It's interesting to see so many similarities in your tics, both vocal and physical. I knew about Tourette's through movies and talkshows, like most people do, but finding people like you sharing videos online about your experiences is really helping me understand more about this syndrom and how it affects your life. Your videos are so important to make so I commend you for your bravery to just broadcast yourself and show the world who you are. It's hard to do that even without Tourette's. Much respect, you're an awesome person!

Having a neurological disorder will make you grow up fast, which is unfortunate for someone your age. But, in the long run, it will also turn you into a strong, compassionate, emotionally intelligent adult.

    omg ok i have a story and a half for you doll so get some snacks.
    Like 5 months ago I had a depressive episode (honestly wasnt even that bad of one) anyway from then i noticed i had a little tremor in my hand and also change in sensation in my fingers. Literally months went by I was doing fine then i noticed i had changed speech and also uncontrollable movements in my head/neck. I was like ok next time i go to the doctor i will ask whats happening. So i do and hes like oh god oh jeez might be a tumour on ur cervical spine im like fml so i get a CT and nothings there so hes like okay were gonna have to investigate further so i was booked in for an MRI then. The day before I got the results for the CT i was researching on my own and was like damn maybe MS, maybe tourettes and i watched one of your videos. OK moving on - a day went by after i saw my doctor and i had started "ticking" and would throw my head back and the tremor in my hand had gotten a lot worse and basically over 3 days it got to the point where i couldnt speak because i was ticking and stuttering so badly. FYI i dont have tourettes - i was diagnosed with Neurological Functional Disorder which is basically like my stress coming out in a physical form, in a way that i couldnt control. It's very common in ppl with mental health issues apparently. The more stressed I got the more i would have these symptoms. Now that I kno its not tourettes its calmed down significantly but i still have some vocal humming ones but basically my stress mimicked your tourettes how bloody crazy is that lmfao be careful what you watch on the internet kids.

    I know this is a horrible and often painful thing for you to go through but some of these made me giggle! I love your sense of humor about your tics.

    I’ve had TS at least since I was 6 (when I got diagnosed) and up until very recently (12+ years later) I’ve never had a vocal tic that was like a real word and wow do they suck. Thankfully I can suppress that one until I’m alone somewhere. Really the only ones I can’t do that with are my eye tics, the blinking and eye darting/rolling and sometimes my neck ones.

      Yeah, hate when something clicks their tongue, or makes a banging noise (triggers my tics). lmao. or imitate my tics, i have someone who acts like they have tourettes because i guess there's always a large crowd around me, and she wants attention too, lmao.
