I'm glad I finally found someone online who said this. Your point in this video becomes even more relevant when you view the development of the galaxy including the official (but only semi-canon) content from the Great Hyperspace War onward. The larger story of Star Wars is one of a cycle, capitalism leads to stagnation, and stagnation under the capitalist systems led to the rise of fascism, and then revolution under fascism brings society back to a stagnating hyper-traditionalist capitalist system. Also, the politics of all the Bioware Star Wars games is really interesting (the KOTOR games and SWTOR).

The Jedi are also slaves, since they're indoctrinated from youth to serve the Republic. They're Jannisaries, basically. Ottoman Jannisaries with some elements of the Catholic Templars and the Buddhist Samurai.

Intresting observation. But also true. Of course they do have the ability to leave the order, officially at least. If such a thing can be said about indoctrinated child soldiers...

To be slightly fair on the trade federation each senator is voted on for a solar system and the trade federation colonized several systems without life and has a civilization under them so I guess it could be comparable to Amazon terraforming a barren uninhabited island and joining the UN that way

The clones were what the Space Marines should have been, character-wise. They start off as just copies, soldiers bred for war, then they develop personalities and you begin to sympathize with them, but at the end of the day, it's "GOOD SOLDIERS FOLLOW ORDERS" all the way down. At the end of the day, despite all their humanity, they're still instruments of destruction for a brutal regime that will throw them away like spoiled bananas if they fail. Unlike 40K which eventually lionized the Space Marines, Star Wars kept the cold hard truth that these heroic Clone Troopers will one day be Imperial Stormtroopers.

This is an old vid so feel it may be redundant to point out but the pauses of lost thought or thinking or whatever could be edited a bit better.

Linguistics will be the end of us. I have always though of myself as personally conservative but politicly liberal. The problem with "conservatives", at least as it is defined in American politics is that they spout on about freedom, and individualism but persecute those who do not agree with their views. I have never understood their hypocrisy. I may choose to live my life in what others may perceive as conservative, however, it makes no difference to me how other decide to live their lives, so long as their freedoms don't impair mine. What do I can about others sexual identity or pronouns? Everyone should do as they wish within the boundaries of law; Period.

Yeah, I think that's something I'm going to have to just work at in future.
And yeah, Thats part of why I respect Clone Wars so much. We *do* follow the bad guys in it but it's done insanely well and I admire it a ton for that
