+Mikerisms I've tried really hard to use your cover as a means of learning this song. The only bit that's killing me is the tremelo bridge/breakdown right before the outro. I can never seem to get the pattern right. Any tips?
That bit took me a while to get my head around too. The faster alternate picking part is just two variations on the same 4 bar pattern, one or two notes changed. Then the slower part afterwards is just the same pattern 3 times but with a note dropped before you start each one. So each time it repeats all the notes are the same but the accents are all on different beats. Once I got my head around that I nailed it pretty quickly. If that makes sense?!
One of my favorite songs of theirs. I'd love to see you redo this song with new camera angles that show your face, because half of what makes your videos sooo gosh darn great is just watching you jam out the fuck out to the music and being able to see your emotions while playing. And the ending of this song is just filled to the brim with emotion, so yeah... I know that's asking too much, but it's still just something I'd really like to see.
Stumbled upon this again and now i must ask. Would you consider doing a cover and tutorial for Paranoia from Culture Scars? It would be the coolest thing ever.
In which part of the song do you mean? The intro is Dm7 & Em7 - then a kind of Bmaj7/F & a Bmaj7, There's a Gminor in there, and a couple of oddly phrased chords I put in to capture the combination of both guitar parts and a C6/9. Chorus is Dm7, BbMaj7, Gminor, Csus2/F, EbMaj7(ish!) The mid8 jazzy bit is Em7, A/Db, Dbdim, Am, then the A7 run. That's about it I think! Hope that helps =)
I'm actually surprised you even managed to work out the guitar part. I can't even hear it unless I'm listening really hard. Even then, I still can't make it out enough to remember what it sounds like! Do you have perfect pitch or something?
+Cole Johnson (5urd) It was a tough one to work out, I don't usually concentrate on one particular guitar part, just an amalgamation of what stands out most for me. I don't have perfect pitch, just a good ear and lot of experience working out and transcribing music.
Thanks :) Sorry, I have no tabs, I usually work out the song and do the video then move on. I rarely write anything down as I'm working on it. Maybe one day I'll go back and tab out everything I've done that's not available anywhere!
Best song on this album imo
I love you Mike Smith
Definitely my favorite off of the album. Awesome cover mate! At this rate you may as well cover the whole album! :D
Cheers. Yeah, my favourite too. I think I've been Hail The Sun heavy recently, I'll come back to them again at a later date!

Jordan Ward And so the proficy was fulfilled :P
Are those major seventh chords (on what looks like Eb)? I'm trying to make a tab from this, but I have trouble hearing differences in chord voicings
