- In this video I break down which radar sets are better, Moving Target Indicator Radar (MTI) or regular Pulse Doppler Radar (PD). I also go through the advantages and disadvantages of both. Mig-23, F-104S ASA, Mirage F1C

Pretty smooth animations on the text
What did you use for that?
Hey thanks. I use the title transitions in DaVinci Resolve. It’s a pretty good editing suite.
Using Vegas but it's crashing so often lately it's honestly starting to piss me off >.>
Might try that out in the future
Yeah, DaVinci has been pretty stable and the free suite has a lot of features. I really like it.
I was able to get one of the EC maps today and was in the F4J, for the first time I was able to use my radar and able to get 4 kills, all using the 7F between 15 to 25 km. Felt so good
Nice! That would make me feel so satisfied as well.
@@AlphaHeavyGamer gaijin really should add realistic EC back in as a game mode
Glad to see that video, im not Aware of the specifics
Thanks for checking it out!
Part of the problem is that WT maps don't allow BVR engagements.
This is one of my biggest frustrations with the game.
Loved it.
Good explanations, good vibes.
Glad you liked it!
I play a lot of wt sim. In my experience there isnt really a difference between MTI and PD at least in the planes that I tried. The true problem you have with MTI on the mirage is not because of the radar probably, but of the missiles themselves. Instead of CW missiles, they have Pulse guidance, and that makes them very susceptible to chaff. I havent tried the f4j yet, but of all my planes the best radar goes to the Viggen, because it's the only plane (that i know off) that has the IFF working even whent the pd mode is on. Every other plane loses the IFF capability when in pd or mti mode, and in sim that makes a huuuuge difference.
I don’t play sim as much as I should. But yeah the Pulse guidance of the 530F makes it the odd missile out when all other SARH missiles use CW. I don’t know the impact of an MTI set coupled with Pulse guided missiles but anecdotally in WT it hasn’t been good. Agreed on the Viggen. The radar on it works beautifully most times.

F-4EJ Kai also has correlated IFF on PD radar.
For some reason it's SARH radar has very poor tail-on shooting avitality, but combination of MPRF PD radar and AIM-7E2 is really good.
I like this
Hey thanks!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
If a radar has only ACM and MTI, which one should i use?
Use ACM when you anticipate air combat maneuvering. I switch to ACM mode at less than 8 km so the radar will autolock targets. Go back to MTI for search.
very nice vid buddy to watch and learn
Hey thanks for watching!
Hey mate epic vid just have a quick question how can I change my radar to a square
No problem, just open up options, go to air battle settings and then select "use rectangular radar indicator".
Don’t switch to the dark side
@@thor923 LOL, whats that mean?
Is there a radar that combines the two modes for accurate speed and distance measurement?
I don't think so. Newer AESA radars have much more capability so there probably isn't a need to combine the modes.
First
Thanks!
