Thank you all for your support. I know this has been a Manga Rec/Analysis channel in the past, so this transition into different topics has really meant the world to me. My next video is going to be bigger than this one for certain, so I don't know how long it'll take. In the meantime I'll try to upload something smaller. All in all, I love DC Comics. I think it’s work like this that really bring out the best in Garth Ennis, which focus more on humanizing his characters and fleshing out the lives they lead, making them seem like the kinds of people you’d like to share a beer with, instead of focusing solely on deconstructing tropes in the most offensive and vulgar way possible. It really shows that Ennis has a lot of heart and warmth to his stories that is rarely ever focused on
The best of ennis is Sara and red rover Charlie, fury max and war stories.
Wow. I never thought I’d see a video about this comic run. I’m from a small town where the local library is always either throwing or giving out old comics and mangas. I have found a lot of the series I love from just being there when they wanted to toss out something. Hitman was one of those said series. I got all the issues up to 15 as that was all they had.

@@hitmanmonaghan6633 I was thinking TV show with real actors, if Happy can get a tv show that was done from a comic, well Hitman can be done as well. It is bizzare and it wont be for everyone but I would hope for the ratings to be high with a lot of views so they can complete it, a lot of shows get cancelled these days cause nobody is watching…

Garth Ennis can polarize some people. Many find his penchant for black humor, disdain for traditional caped heroes, and trope of writing characters to be dumb or cruel a bit much. For me, I can vibe with some of his stuff. I like the directions that Preacher went and from what I’ve heard about his Punisher work I think I’ll enjoy that as well. But this work has intrigued me the most because it seems much more grounded than his other work. At least more emotional intelligent. I’m glad you spotlighted it as it was one of the hidden gems to come out of 90’s DC.
I think even Garth Ennis fans can agree his stuff in Crossed is just disgusting.
And I mean disgusting with no taste or substance.
Ennis is a shitlord writer. There's basically 2 sides to him:
the shitlord who takes the piss out of everything (the boyss, crossed, etc etc)
And locked in ennis writing some banging material (punisher max, preacher, thor max, hitman).
Damn those first 3 and a half minutes gave me a bigger sell to seek out more Hitman as if Section 8 and issue 34 weren't enough for me.
Hands down my favorite superhero and one of the greatest entire series ever written.
DC is releasing the first Hitman omnibus on July 30th. So I guess the series isn’t as forgotten as you thought.

Hitman and Punisher by Gart Ennis is a masterpiece. I hope there is something similar to them written by someone other than Ennis

God, I loved this comic! I was hoping he would appear in a CW show, but I’m sure they would ruin him. Now that Preacher, and The Boys got television shows, we could get a show starring Tommy. Noonan’s is in Harley Quinn, but I DO NOT want him to appear in that. They will ruin him. He does get a name drop in Justice League Unlimited.
I feel like you would really enjoy Transmetropolitian. Idk just a hunch. I can't wait to see more videos about some hidden gems comics provide which are usually my favorite ones. I can see you making great videos about Preacher, Transmetropolitian, The Darkness, and more indie gems

I don't know what voice y'all read Tommy with, but when I got the first 3 issues last Christmas I read him with the voice of Karl Pilkington. I think it's hilarious imagining Karl as an assassin and it really gives the read a pleasant feel to it.
You should definitely do a video on James Robinson's Starman. It's truly my favorite run from DC and as you mentioned, untouched by creator request.

I have been collecting these comics for a while now. I ĺove each one. It's just a shame that his run was so short. Then again, maybe it's a blessing that it didn't have time to become outdated.
It has a beauty that no series has, I had only one book, I used to read daily as it was a new book
I like that you mentioned Tommy forgetting that he has powers and relying on his skills instead. Personally, I think that is something he has in common with Jesse Custer from Preacher.

@@_THE_LOG_ no problem, I'll be honest I'm not the biggest fan of Garth Ennis (I found what I've read of Preacher good though) but stuff like this I find really interesting. Human level supers dealing with down on the ground problems, that's why I love Resurrection Man
Hitman deserves a revival from the dead.
Tommy Monaghan needs to be slated into Suicide Squad, a Batman game or a grind house level stream series.

mabye in james gunn dcu he will make it into a spin off show set in gotham in the dcu james gunn would really make him a well know charter 2 years ago nobody ever heard of peacmaker now he is in mortal kombat and there is fans of him now and we see him a lot more in the main curret dc comics
