if you follow that camp site up towards the left there is a beautiful grass area where you can also camp. the left of that campsite there is a dried up rocky creek, follow that all the way up (a lot of boulder hopping) and there is a few waterholes depending if has rained recently but at the ed is a beautiful water hole with a little waterfall. if you decide to keep going there is an amazing water fall a the end. we have explored a few of these and there is always some amazing crystal clear water holes and waterfalls.
like the video...quick tip if your chasing bass throw the lure as close as possible to the bank or around structure..not so much in the middle...they like the stiller watet also or above/below rapids 😀
Great advice, thanks Scott. I have changed to a metal vibe which has worked in exactly that scenario. You can see it in my latest video. Thanks for watching. Paul
Just returned from a big day paddling up the gorge..You have enquired me to camp out next time. Thanks heaps..looking for other great spots like this on the east coast.
Very nice drone footage... a stunning river to film always helps, eh? Great trip, you certainly eat well on your outings... bummer about the fishless meals though 😆
Thanks Amy, yes the location is key to great footage. Food is a major focus I must admit and the fishing situation does improve. Looking forward to watching your Epic Murray River series, that was a major undertaking!
Great trip mate! Some great drone shots you have. I was there a couple of years back and made a video. I can't seem to get enough of that place. Hopefully I can get back there soon.
Hey thanks for the great feedback. The drone really does show the grandeur of this special place that is often overlooked. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. Cheers Paul
Hi Bec, you start from the Tallowa Dam Recreational Area in Kangaroo Valley. It's a great area for paddling as you can also go in the opposite direction into the lake where there are more campsites. They have a great setup to launch canoes. Yes the Rip Curl bag is a great bit of kit, unfortunately they don't sell that model anymore.
Nice work yet again Paul, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to spending time in Kangaroo Valley soon when my canoe finally arrives at Paddle & Portage. Whilst the video was lengthy, it was both tranquil and compelling. You scored great reflections from both the drone (12:20) and camera (16:20) over the still morning water, along with some nice camera angles during your narrative pieces. Are you just using a GoPro? What about for your audio?
Thanks for the kind words Spike. I use a GoPro 9 and DJI AIR2S Drone. Audio in this video was just the GoPro, but I have used the Rode wireless mic system in others. Thanks for watching!
@@Getgowin minimalist tech indeed - which doesn’t get in your way and allows you to produce quality videos grounded on strong storytelling! For my part, I tend to carry way too much photo, video and audio gear… Are you editing in LumaFusion?
@@spikeboydell hahaha, yes very easy to get carried away with gear. I have been guilty of this in the past. I am currently using iMovie for editing, but I will look to upgrade to Final Cut Pro sometime this year.
Wow stunning scenery. Perfect. Hope to get down there before summers end. Too hot for me right now. Did you need to book your campsite and were you in a national park?
Thanks Fred, yes you need to book. Essentially you book the night you want and it’s then first in best dressed. Link for bookings: www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/lake-yarrunga-campgrounds-shoalhaven-river
Just came across your channel. Tallowa, the Shoalhaven and Kangaroo River, know them well as I live local. Bass are what you look for, but not good when the water quality is extra muddy and high, we have had lots of rain. Very surprised you didn’t at least catch a rotten carp, BIG issue with them, great to catch but only good to feed the local goannas 😉 subscribed to your channel. Check mine out, will give you ideas for when you come back or other places to see along the south coast. Cheers Deb
I don't know why this video just now showed up for me. But anyway, I've been longing lately to get back on my canoe. However, it's April 12 and currently snowing. But a canoe trip is what I need and this video is the only way to fulfill my needs.
Hi Russell, yes RUclips works in mysterious ways. Happy that I can entertain you until you can get back on the water. Thanks for watching, regards Paul
Happy New Year. It looks like you are having a good time ambling down the coast. That was an excellent production. The drone shots really did a good job of showing the ruggedness of the escarpment in that area. The water looked quite dirty. Had there been recent, heavy rain? Looking forward to the rest of your south coast reports. Cheers Ken
Happy New Year Ken, loving the trip, so many places to explore. Thanks for the feedback on the drone work, it certainly provides a great perspective on where I am paddling. There has been a lot of rain over the previous month on the south coast so there was quite a bit of sediment. Just editing the next one where I finally bag a fish, so I'm looking forward to post it. Regards, Paul

Hi Richie, thanks for watching. You enter at the Tallowa Dam Recreation Area. Plenty of parking and easy entry. Cheers, Paul
