*_Hello sir... I am very happy to find an adventurer like you from Australia..., highly recommended adventure equipment... camping, canoeing and fishing, completely in one place and at the same time... Greetings to meet me, Rudy Outdoor Tutorials from Indonesia_* 👣🏕💯👍
Nicely crafted as ever Paul. Like Ken T. I was going to ask about PLB… I even bought the locator beacon before my canoe arrived. I love how you focus on minimalism and keep honing down your kit. With a 16’6” Wenonah, I seem to just keep adding gear… even though most of the time I sleep in the comfort of the Kombi!
Hi Spike, if it wasn’t for the new iPhone I would get a Garmin in Reach as you can also message on them. Oh so easy to keep adding gear, I have purchased a lot over the past few years. Cheers Paul
Thanks Paul... always love seeing what others film with and hearing why... and I'm with you on all your pet peeves, lol. I'm definitely going to check out that key light and the tripod 👍
Thanks Amy, you will find the links in the video description. Note: I have never seen any of these issues in your videos which is another reason why they are so enjoyable.
Just got recommended this video. Thanks for sharing mate. I've also got the Copper Spur tent, Nemo pillow and S2S mat, so a very similar setup! Been looking at those Alton 3x3 tarps for a while now, might have to bite the bullet and get one.
“I’m a lightweight canoe enthusiast. When I go camping don’t like to carry much stuff, because reasons, therefore I only bring a bobby pin and 6cm of paracord. Really light weight and small blueprint.
I have a couple of different camp chairs; the Trekology like you have and a Klymit "Ridgeline" (?). The latter is more robust, has a taller back, a bit heavier, and costs over twice as much as the Trekology. But I'm pushing 210lbs/98kg and I prefer the Klymit. That said, if I was tripping solo I would take the Trekology as every bit of weight loss helps.
Hey thanks for watching, the water filter is “Source Widepac 2L Bladder and Filter” the link is there under the Sea to Summit Pack Tap. I appreciate you using the links as it helps the channel. Regards Paul
Good one Paul. Very informative. A couple of questions and or thoughts. Do you just use ice bricks in your eskies? I’m surprised you don’t mention, or have attached to your pfd a personal locating beacon. I think your idea of a ferry rod is excellent for when being remote. I would suggest a plb on the Gorge trip. When are you looking at doing that and how far are you expecting to travel? Also what length measuring mat do you use. Im getting one and thinking the 60cm will fit best for our canoes. I like the way you have worked out over time exactly what you need to be comfortable on your trips. It is an ongoing process. Looking forward to your next one. Cheers Ken
Hi Ken, I use the Arctic Ice Gel Packs. Regarding a PLB, I will update my phone to the iPhone 15 in September and utilise the Apple GPS emergency messaging platform which has now been rolled out in Australia. This eliminates the need for more equipment and will always be in my PFD. Not sure what you mean by a measuring mat, please clarify. Looking to do section 6 and 7 of the Clarence River canoe trail, just not sure when as yet as it will require a long weekend and good weather. Cheers Paul
A very extensive video, thank you.
Thanks for the great feedback. Cheers Paul
Very good my friend, big hug from Brazil
Thank you very much!
I see you carry two paddles, excellent idea when traveling the back country.
Yes I was caught out with a broken paddle on my Noosa Everglades trip. 22kms from my car. Thanks for watching.
Cheers mate from young to old appreciate the video and bedtime put in
Glad you got some value from it.

Great video. I also just got the mini 3 pro.
Hi Andi, thanks for the feedback. Interested to see how the Mini 3 Pro performs, let me know once you've given it a run. Cheers Paul
Great video, well paced and covered it all! 🙌
Much appreciated!
Out of interest, have you tried hammock camping? Always wondered whether I should invest in a hammock/tarp combo v an ultralight tent
No I haven’t as yet, I would like to try before I buy as I sleep on my side so I’m not sure they would work for me.
Thanks Paul, very good info video on your kit. Have taken on board some of your options that work a treat. Cheers Shaun
Thanks Shaun
Great video. What kind of microphone are you using with your GoPro? Your audio is perfect.
It’s the built in microphones, they’re actually very good from the front. Thanks for watching. Regards Paul
Thank you for sending me the information where to buy the timber paddle it’s arrived so looking forward using this paddle this summer
Hope you enjoy it!

Seriously light…

I would like a longer back on my chair, I just have to wait for this one to wear out! Thanks for watching.
Appreciate the information you presented. Wondering what you do about audio recording - I did not notice any visible microphone?
Hi Peter, no external microphone. I just use the microphones on the GoPro which work really well. Thanks for watching, regards Paul
Great stuff mate. Do you take a first aid kit with you ?
Hi Roostchick, yes I do. It’s a Survival brand kit. I left a link to it in the video description. Regards Paul
a nice vid and setup . looked at your links but no link for your water filtration system . if you wouldn't mind post link or info please
Hey thanks for watching, the water filter is “Source Widepac 2L Bladder and Filter” the link is there under the Sea to Summit Pack Tap. I appreciate you using the links as it helps the channel. Regards Paul
Hi. I'm not sure if I've missed it, but what is the make of the canoe you use?
Hi Richard, it’s a One Tree Canoe from Australia. Thanks for watching.
What brand and model of canoe is that?
Hi Chris, it’s a One Tree Canoe Sprite. Unfortunately they’re no longer made here in Queensland. Cheers Paul
