Oh man, here i had forgotten about him and then I had to search for Stronghold Crusader 2 review and this came up on top and now I miss him. Man was a decent fella I liked watching.

Does anyone else realize that some of the maps are remastered versions of the originals? (Close encounters, The last stand, desert oasis, canyons)
To be fair to Stronghold Crusader II, I can totally see the benefit of the 3D graphics. It looks than its predecessor. However, the problem is not with 3D but their effort - they didn't try to improve the animations, physics and realism with the vastly improved scope.
The thing about this game is that walls are actually necessary. In Crusader 1, you could just plop down a tower in choke points and be done with it because the AI is horrible. In this game however, if you don't build walls to protect yourself the enemy will rush past your towers and proceed to destroy your buildings

The AI is still a lot better than in previous games
Pretty much the same. Plus, 2 assassin user AI creates unplayable lag.
no, not the same. You need walls here, in the first game you could completely ignore them and just plop down towers in choke points@@xxlCortez

may i ask what the difference between stronghold 2 deluxe and stronghold crusader 2 (2014) and which is better?
Stronghold 2 was released in 2005, while Stronghold Crusader 2 was released after Stronghold 3 in 2014. Just as Stronghold Crusader from 2002 it set the game in the crusade period in the middle east instead of medieval europe.
I got it for 5 bucks, so I'm' not complaining. I doubt I will play it long-term as a replacement for the original. I have the original still, so I will probably switch back to that when I get my fun from this.

Fast forward to today, they buff the ai and made some skirmishes campaign damn near impossible to beat on higher difficulty.
Still is a shit game and I'm absolutely disappointed

I played this online a few times against a friend who isn't one anymore because (among other things) it turned out he is the sorest loser ever. So my experience with this game didn't start well so I tried playing against AI.
Tried the Rat and he just sent one wave of spearmen after the other so damn quick that I couldn't even try to build an economy which is when I quit this game
How is it that the first Stronghold looks better than this? Graphics may have been worse, but there was a realistic quality that fit the motif. This plush cgi look feels lame as fuck.

@@microwavegommmm916 Knights also used lances, battle axes, daggers, claymores etc. What is your point? They shouldnt just change the signature weapon of a unit without any need when it was continued since first game.
Yeah we can also notice that the knight doesn't look to be templar at all.

I've only played the first Stronghold Crusader. Man, the sequel here looks BAD, like, ugly compared to the old visuals.
Today I made an install assuming they fixed some things since Stronghold 2, but oh boy. I can't believe how they just f*ck*d everything that was good and added 1d10t features that makes gameplay r3t@rd3d.
Everything just feels buggy and weird.
PROS:
- NOTHING
CONS:
- The movement of the units.
- Weakened Units:
- Archers,
- Fire Ballistas (OMFG what have they done?! I'm beyond myself!),
- Catapults e.g. 2 Catapults sometimes loose against 2 Archers on wall while bombarding directly at them.
- Stupid stamina meter
- Wall destruction graphics simplified to a ridiculous degree.
- Feels like a downgrade from Stronghold 2 which is from 2005 :D :D :D :D :D.
To me this game is completely unplayable like the rest after Stronghold 2. Utterly embarassing from Firefly! Looks like they tried very hard to f*ck up the Franchise.
Stronghold 2 had greater 3D potential than this garbage:
PROS:
- The engine just WORKED with minor bugs, but overall physics was great.
- I did like the fact you can't demolish walls with soldiers. Makes perfect sense!
- Great demolishing animations.
- Great catapult power.
- Units not too bad overall.
CONS:
- Completely messed up Skirmish with limited population for no reason :D and stupid AIs almost all of them.
- Unnecessary DLCs. They are just random skirmish maps that anyone can create. :D Very very embarrassing!
Stronghold is officially dead in my eyes. Old Stronghold 1 and Stronghold Crusader are still good and Stronghold 2 is playable the rest feel like some people forced developers to reduce everything good it had to become a disappointment. Happens with all remakes and new games.

@@Kanoshe they couldnt help themselves and added new units anyway, which are OP as fuck. Me and all my friends bought it, hoping to play it together. After a few days we all uninstalled, because these units are so fucking annoying.
the most annoying is the siege camp + fire 'cart'. you can destroy farms so easily, and it's much harder to stop a cart than a few torchpeoples. sorry dont even wanna look their names up anymore. Also 'whirling devish' or whatever you name it, they have a special ability to run very very fast and kill everything on their way at an instant. run doesn't last forever, but still very fucked up
I dont agree. I think everything is better in the second one. Multiplayer is much more intresting with more tactics.
