you are telling me that a video with "C standard" on the name and a Explorer guitar doesn´t have any Dethklok in it? "thats notss goods" anyway, you play so gracefully, I love it, keep it up man!!
I emailed them years ago, before miasma, asking what tuning they used. The exact response was "it's in c standard my friend" which makes sense because drop c didn't sound right for any of their songs but c standard worked perfectly.
c standard sounds great.vox get way less stress especially when you're singing and playing and it sounds heavy. thats howcome its my new fav tuning. i was in Db before but te extra half tone makes alot of difference
C standard is amazing. And no I would consider it to be 'the standard tuning' now. It's A standard tuning but not THE standard tuning. Overall, extremely versatile and fun to play
Standard C will always be useful, it’s low enough to add real heft and beefiness to the sound but not so low that it’s gratuitous and loses high end clarity, its kind of a perfect tuning and most of the best death metal out there is written in it for a reason
No tuning is inherently useless: it's all dependent on the intentions of the artist. I can give you some reasons that C-standard is a good tuning: 1.) Plenty of repertoire to pick from various acts: (In Flames, Dethklok, Arch Enemy, The Absence, Suffocation [sometimes], Septicflesh, bands in this vid, etc.) 2.) You may think it unfortunate that you are downtuning for solo-time, but think about it this way: you are only removing FOUR notes from your top end. Depending on how you think about it, that's not a lot when you have an instrument that spans four octaves (minus harmonics). Brandon Small (for example) has no trouble coming up with good solos for his work. 3.) Realistic gear expectations. It's lower and menacing sounding without being unrealistic about what normal amplification is capable of (unlike 8 string guitars where some people invest in bass amps for splitting to the lower frequencies). 4.) You can still play a six string guitar. It's a realistic tuning for most scale lengths. Extended range instruments may seem like a good idea on paper, but six string guitars are cheaper, better resources on education/teaching, easier to play, and simply 'cooler' for purists who thrive on understanding the traditions of the genres in question. 5.) You can still play a four string bass. Same arguments for point #4 also extend to the bassist. 6.) C-standard is just the sweet spot for some artists. Depending on your intentions going any higher or lower just isn't the sound... this is subjective. I've tried many tunings on my favorite axe (a Charvel So-Cal), but I haven't tried C-standard yet. That day might come. If I can do these experiments when my axe has a floating Floyd Rose bridge, so can you.
@@DiegoOliveira_guitar I searched it up, but I think that is a totally different song. I mean the song at the start of the video where the screen is black and white. And I think it's E standard?
