Acclaimed composer Dennis McCarthy conducts his overture from Star Trek Generations at the Star Trek Ultimate Voyage concert at the Pantages theater in Hollywood.
Sure, just behind The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Undiscovered Country, Insurrection, First Contact, The Final Frontier, and The Search for Spock.
I agree. There is something about that Generations soundtrack that really captures Star Trek at its core. I love it. Every time I get on a plane I always have the Generations overture playing on my headphones as the plane takes off.
I remember back in '94 when TNG was winding up & Generations was approaching. At the time, I was very skeptical about McCarthy doing the score for the feature because his work on TNG & DS9 was adequate for TV with moments of brilliance, but not nearly in the same league as Goldsmith or Horner. What an AMAZING SURPRISE when I heard it. His contributions to that film was one of its finest elements. He knocked it out of the park & it far exceeded my expectations. This piece performed live under McCarthy baton is a true gem. Thx 4 posting!
What an absolutely beautiful tribute to the main character of Star Trek, the Enterprise! Dennis McCarthy is the voice of Star Trek television and I absolutely love his score to Generations! His Overture is, in my mind, one of the best pieces of music associated with Star Trek! Thank you so much for sharing this
absolutely magnificent and that's not just the music but all the shots from the Next Generation original series the movies all the shots of the enterprise they used as well. Pure perfection. the name enterprise both Syfy and the real world will go down and history as one of the greatest names ever to be bestowed upon a vessel now and all time to come.
can anyone tell me what happens with his monitor? As there are blips and lines appearing and wondered what they mean, as I'm sure I've seen similar when he was filmed during episode scoring
It's the system that's used to keep the music in time with the video. It's used when they do a live orchestra doing the score for something like Harry Potter which the movie is played behind the orchestra. It's showing the movie itself, the musical score and where the conductor should be.
Say what you will about the film “Generations”, but it’s Score is one of best out of *all* the Trek films.
Along with First Contact the best two Trek films.
Oh yeah, these soundtracks are hard to beat.

@@jg2904 I like Star Trek Generations score but it is way behind all the Star Trek scores you mentioned.
I was so lucky to be there - got to meet Dennis McCarthy too after the show - a really great guy - epic!
That is amazing! I'd love to have met a Trek composer in person.

This score captures the spirit and adventure of Star Trek so well!!
That slightly longer held note by the trumpet at the end. #chefskiss🤌
Let's make sure, History never forgets the Name, ENTERPRISE
Glad to see some love for the NX-01
This Overture is amazing. I love Dennis McCarthy's scores to "V: The Final Battle" and "V: The Series".

This gave me goosebumps!
Best Star Trek theme!!
Brought a tear to me eye.
Oh be quiet! 😒
THIS theme should have been used for the tv series "Star Trek "Enterprise" imo....the way the TMP theme was used to launch TNG
That would have been great!
The music of my childhood.
I would pay to see a live score for Generations. Come on Royal Albert Hall, make it so!
P Ferreira Agreed and also they should invite Dennis Mccarthy to conduct.
Nah they wouldn't be able to get McCarthy but to see the film conducted in full at Royal Albert Hall like other films they've done would be great.
Really, why not?
They never get the film composers to do Royal Albert Hall live film scoring.
Wow ❤️
History will always remember the name... Enterprise❤
Awesome! There is no other word that is needed to describe this!!! Wonderful job, Dennis and orchestra!
Jesus Christ I need some new underwear after that! Just when I thought one of the most epic pieces couldn’t get any better...I find this! Thank you!
That gave me chills.
enterprise e ... what a beautiful ship and what a great crew! miss it
Anyone know if there is a version of the video rather than an audience phone recording? Really well done
Michael Dorn FTW!
Fucking epic!
Great Music THANK You Dennis mccarthy

Is that the voice of Michael Dorn at the beginning?
Yes!
Neat
I got a better angle from the right side
