I'm watching all your videos to prepare me for my project. I bought a crusty old travel trailer somewhat similar to yours in the fall. I'm really excited but also nervous for Spring to come because I've never done this type of work before! Thank you for helping me 🥰 Wish me luck!! 🤞
This has been so handy in figuring out how to remove our old RV roof. We're doing it ourselves, and most videos haven't gone over exactly HOW to remove the lap sealant. Thank you so much!
I have a soft patch underneath my EPDM so I thought I would check out RUclips for a fix it video. Great series and good info on how things unravel. Man do you like a challenge! Keep up the good work and Thanks
Hi Chad, thanks for the comment. Hopefully you have way less damage underneath than I did. Keep me posted on the progress and feel free to reach out anytime. Good luck.
It looks like the staples hold the aluminum sides to the corner posts. Is this correct? The wood on the roof is in pretty good shape considering the age.
Are most RV roofs/structures similar to this one? I have a 2002 Forest River Shamrock 21’ camper that I bought with water damage like this one and the roof looks identical to yours! But I am just curious if it will be the same underneath the mat lol
I typically start by using a wide-blade scraper or putty knife to gently remove any large chunks of debris or old adhesive stuck to the plywood. This helps to get rid of the bulk of the material without damaging the wood underneath.
@@remodelyourrv after digging into it more I have to do a complete over haul I have 6 or 7 spots completely rotted out , its a 94 coachmen Catalina , worst job I have ever seen the metal edges of the siding sit higher than the wood decking on the roof itself working like a saw to cut the rubber, can see where it was patched before and they used the wrong material, thanks for the videos great help !!!
Do not reason with the neighbor dog because he can’t reason. Go to Walmart and buy many packages of the .99 cent hot dogs. He will become your best friend. With a little effort you can even train him through the fence.
I've thought about, but I'm not sure what my neighbor would think about me giving him a few treats. He's just looking for attention and is always interested in what I have going on.
@@remodelyourrv It stinks that your neighbors don't address the barking. I agree w you though, I wouldn't give him any treats, so they don't start to think you're trying to hurt him. 😬

That is awesome! Good luck with your project. Stick with it and I bet you will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

Great videos. I've got a small leak and found a soft spot so I'm researching before I decide to DIY or pay to have a repair done. Appreciate you!
Glad I could help
Thanks, bro, for showing me where I’m going today as I tear into my rv!
Good luck with your project. I hope it helps a little!
I swear this is the dog that’s house is by a park we go to 😅
It very well may be.

Yep...unfortunately, staples are exactly what they use to secure to siding. Pretty crazy to me.
Dude I got headphones on sitting in my car and I keep jumping up and looking around like a psycho lol got my window down thinking a dogs parked nearby
LOL

I can't say for sure...but, I know a lot of them are constructed like this.
@@remodelyourrv what year is the RV in this video? Wanting to have an idea of how bad mine will be.
How do you clean the dirt and sticky stuff off before you put the new roof on? And i mean the glue from yhe old roof

Your neighbor's dog is epic! I'm sure it's annoying but also faf!
Lol. Truth.
That dog is funny as hell🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He's something else...that's for sure!
@@remodelyourrv love the channel and new subscriber!!!
@@papergatorzfedducca7998 Awesome...thanks for following along!
did you use anything to get the roof off, mines stuck on bad!!!
Hi Shannon. Most of it peeled off by hand. On some sections I used a small, handheld 5-in-1 tool to peel up tough spots.

You know what? You may be on to something. If you can't beat them, join them! I will keep you posted. Haha. Thanks for the comment.
1:40 That dog tho
Hahaha...he's all business!
Thanks
bro i dont understand why they dont make the roof in a gable or shed roof the water would fall right of and wouldn't stay in one place
Aerodynamics...I'm guessing. Either way, they're garbage.
For the dog issue.
Get him a chew toy or treat to keep him busy and in the end you will be his friend.

Just like a pen knife
So this is a RV CAMPER not a mobile home hu
Yes
No one cares about the dog im wanting to watch the trailer stuff.
Dog owners are some of the most inconsiderate people in the world
It's a bonding experience.
Well I know I'm not doing my own roof. If it's gunna flex like yours with your light ass . I weigh 330#
Lol
