@@ASHURAHEN I played all the Yakuza games and 3 was the most painful for me to play. I didn’t do any side quests because I was already so sick of the forced orphanage main story, so I was slightly under leveled. Thus, I had no komaki parry and I was extremely limited in my abilities. Just about every boss sidesteps grabs or blocks any combo even after sidestepping to take them from behind. I believe it’s a valid opinion to enjoy Yakuza 3, but to say it’s the best is an insult to all the newer titles that the developers worked their ass off to make such as Yakuza zero, like a dragon, Y6/YK2. @@koppy82 the pacing was so slow and the characters are insignificant, only becoming relevant (spoiler) at the end of the new yakuza gaiden. It was a huge jump that wasn’t executed properly. There was no incentive to like the characters from the Orphanage because of their irrelevance in later games. In Yakuza 3, if you don’t take the time to learn Komaki’s moves, Minamida’s techniques, complete Mack’s training and revelations, or even play a few rounds in the coliseum, you’re gonna have a bad time.
It just feels sandwiched between the raw greatness of yakuza two and the revolutionary mechanic of multiple playable characters in yakuza four and five
@@sheevpalps3846 Your ignoring how Yakuza 2’s gameplay is way better then yakuza 3. If from a gameplay standpoint they were the same I would agree, but Yakuza Kiwami 2 is just leagues better then Yakuza 3 in that regard.
@@Gamergame-hu1ls Maybe 2's gameplay was better (I've never played it so I can't say) but I don't think Kiwami 2 is better than 3. I do agree, it is less annoying and in fact better than 3 in the beginning. But once you begin upgrading Kiryu, you see what a beast he is and the game becomes fun in a challenging sort of way and the enemies can't really block your killer combos. K2 has the opposite problem, its charm wears off once you see how limited the heat actions are and how you can cheese the weapons/extreme heat mode. When I went against the Amons (and I even pulled my punches by not using these) I saw how crazy easy this game was. That was a big problem I think. Still enjoyed a lot of parts of it like the tandem heat actions and ragdoll physics, but I also really like wallbounding animation, heat action diversity, and the bloody faces in 3 lol. I think it's just up to preference at that point, but 3 is really too discounted for both its story and gameplay in the Yakuza franchise.
@@sheevpalps3846 Ok I see your point. But first of all you really should play it it’s only like 15 bucks. And second This just comes back to it point of it being outclassed by other Yakuza games. But I do get that Yakuza 3 is definitely hated more then it needs to be.
You’re right, I would love to play 1 and 2 one day. I have to get a PS2 first though lol and wait a couple years since I played K1 and K2 a little less than couple years ago so they’re still pretty fresh in my mind. I think they’re really all special (although like most, 0 will be my favorite always). Every game has its charm, although I wouldn’t exactly say 5 has a great finale especially toward the end. I like Kurosawa, but they could’ve wrote the Morinaga/Aizawa thing so much better throughout the game. I do think they improved how they view story in newer installments and really struck that goofy/serious tone in side content and main story so well. I’m also curious, which are your favorite games overall? I would have to say my list is probably 0, 5, 4, 6, 1/3, 2.
For me, "square + triangle but make sure square atk dont hit" Is my best early game tactic before getting double finisher. Once you get double finisher you can go with the same tactic but with x2 triangle. Always flings enemy to the ground.
I hate when people act like the game is meant to be a challenge, quit acting so fucking high and mighty, if you want a challenge yakuza game play kiwami on legend, that game actually has some depth to the combat with the style switching mid-combo, yakuza 3s combat is plagued with bugs like the 360 degree dodges, and the amount of damage actually dealt is so pitiful that pretending that it’s fun is just bullshit
I can understand why you can be pissed by the movement bugs & dismal damage output (which was an issue in the OG PS3 version). But you don't have shit on the folks that genuinely love the game. Fun is a subjective thing after all.

I started the Like a Dragon series a month ago and I'm currently at Kiwami. Why I don't see people talking about Yakuza 3 like the other ones? I know about the controversial side stories, but it's really a bad game?
I honestly don't even think the blocking was that bad like everyone said, for me it was the seemingly crazy amount of health everyone had plus the combat not feeling as good as 1 or 2 and obviously not being as in-depth as later titles (but still being great mind you), a Kiwami remake would honestly make it the perfect Yakuza game so long as nothing gets cut out.
I played it on hard mode so fighting enemys blocking all the time made me have to adjust and get better at it, literally had to fight Kanda with only 2 heals cuz I forgot to buy more but worked out anyway
I'm going to have to agree. Ill Treatment and Clay Doll is solid. Lyricism and Fly are the two best ones, but I guess that's the problem when you have the shortest story of 0-6.
Yakuza 3’s main fall from Grace is its bug to make your enemies extremely powerful that’s health bar takes way too long to lower. It’s definitely the most frustrating game in the Yakuza Series and I have no idea how Sega can call it a Remastered when the combat is still very frustrating. I was happy and angry at the same time when I beat this game. I like the game but it has the biggest flaw in the series.
I'm on Yakuza 3 and I'm at the point of i need all substories for all hostess women, and then the final boss. Ig my patience if the boss fight before the final boss fight rn Edit: 1 month later i finally did it. I talked to virtual women!!! I hope everyone is proud of the hours i wasted gambling, the sleepless 2 nights i spent gambling like 4 million yen a night before learning i could make money from the old lady with the crystal ball. If anyone plans on playing this game, remember once you beat the main game you can play the tag team battle mini game from an old granny, its easy and fast money.
people who complain about 3’s combat probably didn’t do any master training, once you unlock a few of komaki’s moves the combat becomes a lot more dynamic and fun
I still think it’s the worse in the series (unskippable cutscenes and stun lock was a bitch) though not a bad game. Okinawa was beautiful and I loved being a dad to the orphans. (People that think 6 has worse combat simply should follow their own logic lol)
I heavily disagree with your statement/opinion. People who say Yakuza 3 is the worst, CLEARLY haven't played Yakuza Dead Souls. ALSO, Yakuza 3 cutscenes are skip-able. Seems like someone didn't turn on "Event Skip".
@@ASHURAHEN that’s true I never played dead souls. Also damn I meant to say cutscenes you can’t pause. No one in their right mind skips a yakuza cutscene
Personally, i didn’t mind the gameplay with all the block spam. It made the game more challenging, and i like that. My issue with it is how little the story honestly ties itself to the next games. Everybody forgets about the Yakuza in Okinawa. They don’t have any relevancy after that, which is a shame since I actually REALLY liked Rikiya, though since he… Y’know, I already kind of felt like that was going to happen. Then, there’s the whole “Kazama has a twin brother” twist. Also becomes irrelevant later on. Pretty much, you can sum this game up to, “Kiryu has a fresh start in a place called Okinawa, starting an orphanage called Morning Glory.” After that, about 90% of the rest of the story becomes irrelevant in the later games, (Source: Trust me Bro) which is, again, a shame, since I LOVED the story of 3. (Just a reminder though, I’ve only made it up to 5 so far, at this time of posting. Correct me if I’m wrong if the story of 3 does become relevant again.)
honestly, all 3 taught me was how to spam tiger drop and Komaki Parry and cheese with grabs. if i tried quickstepping around an enemy Kiryu would just dash right into the enemy. 3 didn’t make me “better” at the combat, it just made me realize how the enemy AI works and how they won’t attack you until you begin a combo, once you begin said combo another enemy will walk behind you and begin attacking you. of course there’s also the issues with the excessive blocking and quickstepping they do as well as attacking you whenever they want to except for when you’re not attacking. 3 has a lot of issues that should have been addressed in the remaster, but 3 should’ve gotten a Kiwami instead of a remaster to be honest. Kiryu in 3 is just really weak, he does so little damage to bosses and the heat moves do so little damage along with how specific the range for the heat moves are to activate them, i really only used 1 heat move as it was the only one that did much damage. for your tl;dr, 3 needed a Kiwami, not a remaster if they wanted to make this game good. and no, i didn’t hate the game, but it’s very flawed to where i didn’t even care to do the substories, i just wanted to get to 4 instead.
Facts. I just beat Majima again in chapter 7 like a while ago. Everything you’re saying is on point. The combat is really shit and I hate how defensive these AIs are. Kiryu is so fucking weak like i can do literally any move and it takes like 1/100 of the heath bar. I’ve done the least amount of substories so far during my Yakuza journey in this game cause i really wanna just play 4
I skipped yakuza 3 but i came back after finishing all the other games and 2nd time around i had a blast, the only thing that really pissed me off were the upgrade, not seeing what was next is a pain in the ass and i will never like that upgrade system in any yakuza game
Ngl I kinda liked that enemies were smart enough to block. If I have any serious gripe with Y3, it's some of the group battles being trash (riot shields might cause traumatic flashbacks), and also how little damage you do in boss fights. I appreciate boss fights being tougher, but I'd rather it be done by way of an interesting moveset, or something to have them stand apart enough to be a worthwhile challenge, rather than have them take next to no damage, even from heat actions. Other than that, it's a good game, and I think it has great character moments, with Rikiya, Kazama and Mine being my personal favorites to come from it. I'm not sure if my gripes come from just the remastered version, but that was how I played it.
Seriously tho it’s so annoying cause they turn around in a fraction of a second and continue to block you and then attack you with not a single second to breathe
Well to be honest, Yakuza 3 was my Yakuza game that i haven't finished yet, and i'd honestly say i have such godawful taste when it comes to starting a game, i should have just started with 0. because i'm playing the games in an incorrect order.

That’s my brief opinion and I’d like to hear yours
@@GearMasters988how do you not like the orphanage story line
@@koppy82 the pacing was so slow and the characters are insignificant, only becoming relevant (spoiler) at the end of the new yakuza gaiden. There was hardly any cutscenes with voice acting and mostly just dialogue for all the kids. I felt more like an errand boy than a father/owner protecting his kids. It was a huge jump that wasn’t executed properly. There was no incentive to like the characters from the Orphanage because of their irrelevance in later games. However that is my opinion, you’re welcome to disagree.
@@GearMasters988 I think the game wants you to slowly develop the liking for orphans, considering how the ending was. But, this is one massive story so anything that happens in these games could be for some reason way down the line.
Yakuza 3 becomes easy after unlocking tiger drop and komaki parry, the whole game is just learning how to counter.
Yakuza 3 taught me that you need always throw your opponent
I tried Yakuza 3 and tried fighting with an actual brain and I still got blocked
Yakuza 3 bosses: *ungrabbable*
then it just turns into circle and r1 then square square square triangle triangle (also drags on due to shitty dmg)
Ngl ur spitting fax about the shitty damage fr.
Yakuza 3 was fuckin great
Yeah, I learned to mash circle instead
just finished yakuza 3. and i really didnt think i would actually love this game in the end. obv didnt like the combat at first but got used to it. also kiryu playing hide n seek with the kids mission was a lot of fun. it just felt so peaceful. i was hoping for more tho 😢
The blocking isn't that bad. But the fact that you deal piss poor damage, even with heat actions is my main gripe with the combat.
That's some facts ngl
At least this gets sort of rectified as the game progresses
Y3 was my first game. Played it about 3 years ago and it got me to play the rest of the Kiryu games the next year. Y3 has its problems sure, but at least it can generate interest in this great IP. :)
My only issue is that they turn around so damn fast after you pick them up by the shoulders
-Gauge distance from enemies so your finishing blows hit first
-Thowing weapons
-Heat objects with weapons
-Bounding
-Dropkick
-Just fucking grab
Many ways around the blockuza, people are just lazy
Funny thing is,These dude really think mashing same button always work like they never learn when playing Kiwami 1 that enemy will block you if you keep mashing same button lol.
its my favorite thing to do on enemies who love to block my attacks.
that's crazy, anyways *grab*
Mfw when wall combo's and grab spam is considered peak gameplay 🥵🥵🥵🥵
dont bosses tend to instantly get out if you spam grab too much?
Mfs thinking spamming r1+circle is peak gameplay:🤡
In Yakuza 3, if you don’t take the time to learn Komaki’s moves, Minamida’s techniques, complete Mack’s training and revelations, or even play a few rounds in the coliseum, you’re gonna have a bad time.
It just feels sandwiched between the raw greatness of yakuza two and the revolutionary mechanic of multiple playable characters in yakuza four and five
Why is 2 great? Mine is a better antagonist than Ryuji and 3 is far more personal/less nonsense plot twisty than its predecessor is.
If you want the pure spectacle play the Kiwami games and if you enjoy the style of Yakuza 3 play Yakuza 4 and if you enjoy the good story play Yakuza 5 or 6 or even 0.
Always flings enemy to the ground.
i just invested all my points into health and mashed square and triangle . 🗿

When tf do you go to okinawa in yakuza 0
@@ASHURAHEN I don’t shit on people who enjoy the game, I just shit on people who get all high and mighty over liking the game and act like it doesn’t have any problems and it’s just everyone else being bad at the game

The block is definitely bad
@@coreywilson8161 not for me
Funny thing is, Yakuza 3 was my first ever Yakuza game, and I learned pretty quickly on how the game treats you.
I played it on hard mode so fighting enemys blocking all the time made me have to adjust and get better at it, literally had to fight Kanda with only 2 heals cuz I forgot to buy more but worked out anyway
Mate.... went through what u did. 🤣🤣🤣 having taurine and food in the items area really take affect.
It's because the remaster screwed up the combat so enemies are way faster to react to you.
You don't really learn the mechanics totally until you play through 3.
I cannot play Y3. It's just giving me 7 fps and I'm about to cry
Komaky Parry:lol
And don't forget tiger drop.
Y3 combat wouldnt be so painful if the game had more than 4 combat osts.
I'm going to have to agree. Ill Treatment and Clay Doll is solid. Lyricism and Fly are the two best ones, but I guess that's the problem when you have the shortest story of 0-6.
i just started yakuza 3 and it just feels very slow and the blocking after i get a singular punch in is pretty annoying but ill still give it a chance
I like the game but it has the biggest flaw in the series.
yakuza 3 is alright but it can be annoying at times especially at second tomashiro fight where he had goons fight you while spamming bullets
If there is a kiwami 3 it would be the best entry
I thought about yakuza 3 just like thay guy did then i noticed its actually workable and not trash like what many people say
Yakuza 3 was my fav tbh, was relaxing af
I had my rough experiences with 3 but It did teach me to play better and smarter
I'm on Yakuza 3 and I'm at the point of i need all substories for all hostess women, and then the final boss. Ig my patience if the boss fight before the final boss fight rn
Edit: 1 month later i finally did it.
I enjoyed 3.
people who complain about 3’s combat probably didn’t do any master training, once you unlock a few of komaki’s moves the combat becomes a lot more dynamic and fun
@@Ezioauditore5678 That is true, I really hate how you can't pause.
Me replaying Yakuza 3
i suck at yakuza 3 combat, even shadowboxing didnt work for me, but hey, i got 3 tunas
Thank You.
Did you download the quickstep patch?
@@jeriart8036 i’m on console
I'm not sure if my gripes come from just the remastered version, but that was how I played it.
me who doesn’t know remember what the fuck i did
Its true but so far the combat its making me his bitch world builiding perspective i love it
If you go for the story then you have nothing to worry about
I hated the blocking mechanics too but after meeting up with komaki and learning that sweet sweet dodge, the combat was beautiful

I dont even mind the blocking so much. If they did a kiwami style remake I hope they don’t drastically alter the game, I just want better quality of life fixes and then we are golden.
Except you still end up mashing Square and Triangle.. And then Tiger dropping.
Or just Tiger dropping, and or Komaki parrying.
