- In this video I share my family's one week stay in St Ives in Cornwall. we explore St Ives and surrounding places. We visited porthcurno beach and Minack Theatre, Paradise Park in hayle and walk to carbis bay. We didn't have a car with us as we arrived by train so we relied on public transport which was great and we loved the Lands end coaster.
If you would like to watch more detailed videos of our days out the links are below...

I’m lucky enough to live here as my parents decided to move a couple years ago to escape the hectic London life and I still have to kick myself that I live in my dream place. We’ve always gone on holiday here and I’m so grateful to be here permanently now. ❤
Oh wow how amazing! It must be so nice to live there, not just for st Ives but to have easy access to the rest of Cornwall too. Your so lucky 😀

Hi , I live in Edinburgh, never been to Cornwall before, and planning to visit the area with my family( 3 adults) for one week using my own car (about 10 hours driving) between 15 August -15 September! Any advice from your experience to make this trip successful ( best time ,itinerary, accommodation,..etc) is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Such a heartwarming vlog! You’re such a lovely family who are so present for your kids! It’s so beautiful to see!
This means so much to me, as that is how we try to be as parents so I'm really touched by your comment, thank you so much 🥰
Hi I’ve just subscribed to you, as your logs are brilliant and so interesting but most of so relaxing , many thanks guys
Thank you 😃 that's the best comment I can receive, I'm so glad you enjoyed this video 😊
Wonderful, just wonderful. Thanks for that.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed this video 😊😃
My childhood holidays were always by train. Never wished we had a car! Looks like you had a great time in great weather!
Train hoilday are great aren't they, my children were very excited! And yes we were very lucky, everything was looking it's best 😊
I Live near St Michael’s Mount, about 5 minutes away, we have both Marazion and Long Rock Beaches. I’ve lived In Cornwall all of my Life.
Oh how wonderful, I really wanted to visit st Michael's mount but unfortunately we didn't have enough time, hopefully next time. Your so lucky to have those lovely beaches so close to you 😊
Thank You Jodie, there are so many Wonderful beaches here In Cornwall. On the Promenade in Penzance there’s an outdoor Lido with part of the Pool has Geothermal Power and the water is Warm
Such a beautiful place, could hardly believe we were in the uk! I remember going past the pool when we were on the bus it looked amazing, I would love to come and spend a lot longer in Cornwall to explore all the beautiful places. It must be a great way of life 😊
It’s the best way of life, there’s a Cornish Saying that we say and it is, well do it dreckly which means that we aren’t in any hurry to do things, we have just got a new family that has just moved down here from Ipswich and they can’t believe how laid back it is down here, they live on the estate where I live,
Sounds like a great place to live, i did get the impression actually whilst we were there, everything seemed so laid back with no stress, I would love to move to Cornwall once the kids are older 😊
I’m down Long Rock beach now with my little dog at 06.20am
Aww how lovely, your living the dream 😃
Brings back wonderful memories.
Thank you for a superb video. Im a newew subscriber❤
Thank you so much, im so glad that you enjoyed the video 😊 im quite new to doing vlogs and feel my videos are improving so that is really lovely to hear, thank you ❤️
Stayed at this same holiday let a few Easter’s ago. It’s really great isn’t it.
Oh really! Yes it's wonderful 😃 I miss the view it, it really was amazing 🤩
Born and raised there (Island Road boy), down by the Island/Breakwater/Arches/Meor & Widden beach with my mates; unfortunately now just a theme park.🥹
Wow I couldn't think of anywhere better to grow up, must have been great, And yes it must not be nice watching it get busier through the years! I'm the same with my home town, everytime i go back another block of flats and housing estate has been build and the roads are blocked with traffic but it's not a beautiful place like St Ives. I love how st Ives has still kept its original charm 🩵
@@jodicross439 My mother and grandmother 12A and 14 Island Road took in B&B; people came back year after year and they had a wonderful time on the beaches etc. However, in the last 30 years or so second homes have hollowed out the town and the community. Some will say that there is still a community there but when I lived in Island Road - 30 houses between Island Road and Burrow Road opposite, all were lived in by St Ives people (family ties back 100's years) and it was the same in all the rows. What makes me sad is that the childhood that I had will not be shared by children anymore; mine grew up on the outskirts of the town. No go area for me now in the height of the season!
@@markward203 awww that is sad, I guess people know if they have property there they can make alot of money letting it out. It's a shame, I can see why you would feel the way you do about it, being born and breed in St Ives.
@@jodicross439. It’s a Stunning place to grow up in, Spent all Summer holidays on the Beach with my friend. If Cornwall didn’t have Visitors it Wouldn’t Survive, if we need to go out Shopping or anything else, we would go out and back home before the roads get too busy. I was born and bred here 63 Years ago and I still love it.
It's such a beautiful place, can see why you do 😊

Hi sorry about the delay we were on a day out yesterday so have only just got around to replying. I would say if you can go when kids are in school then definitely take advantage of that as everything is always nicer when it's less busy. September is a great time to go but just like July we really can't depend on the weather so it's always a risk but definitely one of the best times to go. If you are taking your car find an accomodation that has a set parking spot as parking is really hard so if you have your own space then you don't need to worry. We were on the outskirts of st Ives with a 5 minute walk to the harbor which was perfect for us, we loved being near to Porthminster beach which made our hoilday. Take advantage of the public transport, the train station next to Porthminster is only £1 to get to carbis bay (the next beach along) and it is stunning and is a must to visit. Porthkidney beach is also amazing. For days out as shown in this video we visited paradise Park which was lovely for kids and we really enjoyed that, and the Minack Theatre and porthcurno is so beautiful but could be hard work with young children. But definitely take time just to explore St Ives and enjoy the beaches and let the kids play in the sand and the shallow waters. Porthminster really was our favorite and the calm harbour sea. But be warned everything is up and down hills so can be quite walking sometimes. And make sure to watch a sunset on porthmeor beach one evening 😊
Looks beautiful ❤
It really was a beautiful place 😊
can i know where did you guys stay? is that an airbnb?
@@janemadrigal7506 hi sorry I thought I had put it in the comments, we stayed at the carrack widden apartments, it was a lovely stay 🙂

@@jodicross439thank you so much!
Hi whats the name of the holiday let?
Hi the apartments are called carrack widden apartments, there is a whole block of them we stayed at number 35, you can find them on booking. Com or cornish escapes 😊
@@jodicross439 ok cool thanks 👍
10 hours??! Where did you come from - Mars???
Lol no just the north east of England, it takes 8 hours to drive but the train is much easier, and with the couple of change overs it took 10 hours all together! It takes 6 hours from London, doesn't look that far away on the map though 😊
Takes that on a bad day from Kent to Cornwall
Yes I can imagine that, South of Englands traffic can be terrible sometimes that's why the train was a stress free option for us 🙂
One of my favourite places, but can't think of a more horrible place during school holidays!!
Yes it's a shame it gets so busy but I guess so many people love it there, we were lucky to stay there as we got to explore the surrounding areas and go to the harbour in the evening and early mornings when it was quieter 😊
Hi, What do you think is the best time to visit Cornwall? Thanks
@Fidel-tk5rq outside school holiday times it's perfect, though we have done May holidays recently and it wasn't too bad. For me August is a no for certain places in cornwall...St Ives, Padstow and others as it just gets too crowded.
@@u2coop2003 Thanks for your reply. I 'm thinking of early September, however as you know holidays in this country are always at the mercy of the weather! please advise.
@Fidel-tk5rq September should be perfect, like you said the weather would be the only random
