    You can catch the train from st lives, the branch line to carbis bay. Or you can drive into hale train station park and ride back on the branch line back 1 stops at carbis and then st Ives. And then back to hale to pick up car, whichever one it’s loverly scenery. At carbis walk down the hill to carbis beach, hard walk back up though. Great respect for Cornwall people, keep it clean take rubbish home, don’t bury dog poo. It’s there for all of us to enjoy 😊. Thanks

    I'm Cornish and am lucky to have lived here all my life. However don't confuse the idyllic life on holiday with the life of many local people, struggling to make ends meet with low paid casual work. Add the housing crisis by people buying up homes for holiday lettings and pricing local people (cleaners, care assistants, teachers, dentists etc etc) out of the housing market, both for buying and renting. The community is dying.

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  2 года назад +13

      It’s good to have some locals chime in on the topic 🙏🏼 we have heard that’s the case many time over and all around Cornwall it seems. We live in Newquay and see the same amongst our friends. Some have left the county for a brighter future instead of struggling to make ends meet with low paid work.
      We even saw this happen in Byron Bay, Australia but interestingly once all of the service workers were priced out of the area there was a huge shortage of workers in the hospitality industry. Subsequently the rates that cleaners could charge went through the roof! How ridiculous right?

    • @hazza5999
      @hazza5999 2 года назад +5

      @@cjexplores We welcome all to Cornwall, it's just a shame that so many people struggle to get by and the community slowly dies. Go to Mousehole, Mevagissey or Padstow and you'll struggle to find much of a community in winter.

      @@hazza5999 yes we agree! We know a lot of people in Newquay who plan trips away in either summer or winter depending on their line of work. It seems to be a seasonal choice. But we do love the winter vibes in Newquay. Such lovely, low-key community events 🥰

    Beautiful views, we go every September. Cornwall was originally (well, 100+ years ago) advertised as a winter holiday destination. I have lived on the North West coast all my life and worked in the Hotel trade which is where all my income has come from,not as pretty as Cornwall but we rely on the tourist trade heavily also and there are second homes here as well. So we can't all have what we want. Good video, well done! And yes, we also call the tourists "grockles" as well as they do in Cornwall!

    I've lived in Cornwall for virtually half my life and am now 57 years old. Avoid high season if you want to come here. May, June, Sept, and Oct are the best months. Quieter and cheaper. Living here is great. Lots of jobs if you're unfussy and prepared to do the hours as many
    EU workers have gone home since Brexit. It is difficult to find rentals down here that are affordable for the young, so they don't stay. If you're coming here to live accept you will have to compromise. Less money but higher quality of life.

      @@susanmccormick6022 you have no idea, the Gulls here in St Ives are savage, they attack everyone who has food, i had my own experience many years ago sitting on the beach with my 18 month old son in his buggy eating chips, they mobbed him, stole his chips and cut his face so i had one of those little kids fishing nets, i turned it around so the thick end was whip like and slapped one of the fookers across its head, it staggered across the beach and then flew off, a family who were obviously from up north started all that aaawww crap giving me shit even tho my son was bleeding so i just grabbed the rest of the bag of chips and threw it right between them, oh dear guess what happened? they got totally swarmed by at least 50 of the bloody things so dont tell me aaawwww
