My wife and I had separated when this came out. I couldn't listen to it without breaking down because it said so much of what I wanted her to know. We finally got to speaking to each other and I said, 'OK you want to dump me and paint me as a disloyal, dishonest and disrespectful person, well you are very wrong about how I feel about you. Perhaps you should listen to this.' A couple of weeks later she called and said, 'I heard it, how can we make this work?' We reconciled and are still together. Thanks Vince and PPL!

Fusion of country/folk/and pop. And Vince Gill. Wow. He doesn't advertise this too much. But this group had a lot of hits. I just learned he was in this group even though i grew up singing this song.

I did sound a few times for various bands Vince played in back in those days, and so he often sang through my main microphone (that I used for years) It never sounded better.
Trust me. Your dad was right. He sang like an angel. He is a master of harmony, too, and has always been a unique and amazing guitar player.
Believe it or not, I'm not a fan of Vince, esp. or even country music, but I totally appreciate talent when I hear it.

Vince has been a friend of mine for years! He is not only one of the best singers and song writers in the business, he can also play any Instrument in any musical genre the way it should be played and with great tone. Vince is also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet anywhere!

Vince is my mom's favorite country singer of all time. I almost passed out when I scored her front row center seats for her birthday. She said he was funny, charming, sincere, and played guitar like he was walking on air. He even impressed my stepfather, who hated country but used to be a music teacher.

Most people don't know Vince Gill was the lead singer for Pure Prrarie League in the 70's sand early 80's or even know who Pure Parie League was. I saw them when I was in college in the 70's and they put on a great show. He still sings " Amie", probably PPL's biggest hit in concerts occasionally today. I still have a vinyal copy of the album.

I saw Vince with The Time Jumpers 2 yrs ago. Still very humble. People tried to show him attention, he waved them off like, 'these are my guys, don't'. Have to say that group was so excellent!! All in perfect harmony, perfect timing. You make it to Nashville, look them up for a great evening-privte concert. ♥️

Kristine and Janis Oliver at the time I guess. I heard the opened a show in 1977 while Vince was in the group Sundance. (vince was 19 at the time) They married in 1980 so and this was done in 1981 so they were newlyweds then. I remember seeing Sweethearts of the rodeo sing "I gotta get away" which Janis wrote. That song is what won them the Wrangler Country Showdown and got them going and I always wondered if she and Vince worked on it together. Good stuff and thanks for posting it.

Absolutely. I had a major crush on Janis back in those days but was too shy to tell her. Of course, Vince didn't have that problem. LOL
I hope her life turned out well after they split up.Her sister was Kristine, btw.
Anyone know what happened to Jeff Wilson (guitar here)?
I was much closer friends with him than Vince as I knew Jeff and Max (Pat) Nolan from The Hot Quazi Band days. Lost track of both of hem during the 80's Dying to reconnect, esp. with Max.

I was there with you, Mick. I even helped install those giant speakers (only one of which worked, as I recall LOL)
I lived a block away from Sweetwater and the Fleetwood. Always went to Sweetwater though, never Fleetwood and even missed Van Halen when they played there (kicks self)
But the thing I really kick myself for was, I never made a point to go see Byron's band, only to find out later one of my favorite country rock guitarists later on, played with him all the time.
Mental block on his name, right now (maybe Jim?). He went on to play with The Henry Paul Band, though. I could have been friends with him, like Vince, Jeff, Janice and Kristin.
Those were the days, though, eh?
