    Ohhh ohhh FIRST?! Luckily my ISP doesn't charge for their device. I have to use it though. I do have my own AP and such though.

    I bought my own modem years ago and never looked back. I also have two Decos, one as the main router and the second as a access point. The main one is connected to the modem and a 8 port switch. The second Deco is connected to the main one through the switch and a fiber optic cable. it works very well. The Decos use Mesh which acts as one access point and it's wonderful.

    Excellent guide to Home Networking mistakes! Very good points, for years I was using an older router and switched to a gaming router about 4 years ago. It was a night-day difference in terms of performance. Definitely having a good switch that supports more devices than you think you'll need is a good idea also. One thing I've not done is locate the router centrally in the house, no good place to do so. But I've added an extender which has helped quite a bit for those few devices that don't get the best signal.

      It's funny because my router is in my master bedroom closet but I have 2 wireless access points in the center of my home. Sometimes the location of the demarcation where the cable or fiber comes into the home makes it difficult to move the router. Access points and wifi extenders work great! Thanks for watching!!

    I am finally able to go from FTTN to FTTP... 1 GB download is the max where I am but very happy to hit anywhere near that as I can only get Max 58mbps at this time on FFTN...
    Large family & we also have 4 foster kids who live with us, so we have many devices running simultaneously here...
    I want to basic network our home & hardwire most items. I am running an Orbi AX1800 Mesh System at this time & this video & a few of your others have helped me immensely...
    Thank you

    A few months ago we put a small hole in the bottom of the wall connecting my room to the room we keep our router in, and set up an Ethernet cable, been loving low ping on games ever since

    Hey Mike. Great video. What kind of modem can I buy that will work with different cable companies? I have deco xe75 mesh router. Currently have a modem/router/cable box combo causing issues. Looking to change that setup (cable company wants $200 for new devices...smh. I live in a 4 bedroom house, downsizing to a 2 or 3 bed, 1 story. A link would be great. I don't do gaming and currently have 24 devices that use wifi. I want room for more smart sensors and hubs. I also have a 8-port switch. Thanks in advance.

      @UltimateTechHub  Год назад

      It depends on how fast your ISP speed is. But most netgear modems should work just fine. Best Buy had a few different brands and I think they even show the service providers that they are compatible with. $200 is pretty pricey. You can get a better deal for sure. Sounds like you have a great network setup overall. Just need to separate the modem from the router. And of course you can get a mid range Linksys router for $139. Hope this helps and keep me posted on what you decide to buy. Have a great day.

    So what is the determine factor between wireless access points and a WiFi router? I'm building a 2400 Sq Ft house. Single story and pretty open. Curious if I should get 1 or 2 APs or just do mesh.

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  Год назад +1

      Great questions! With a large 1 story at 2400 sqft you definitely need 1 or 2 APs or a mesh system. A mesh system is cheaper and easier to setup. Probably around 250 Dollars to cover 2400 sqft. Multiple Access Points are fantastic but are more difficult to install. But if you need only 1 AP it will probably cost about 150 dollars. I have a video on how to install an AP so let me know if you want the video link. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.

    Anyone know why my pc will only sometimes boot up? I hit the power button and I hear the psu start for a second and all the fans and components get power for split second before shutting down. Sometimes it boots up fine and I can play it for as long as I don’t hit sleep or shut down. I’m pretty sure it’s mb or psu but I’m not sure

I really need this job as I am a IT Networking Uni student and I need a job that relates to my degree before I graduate. So, I am here trying to learn the basics to try and impress the interviewer. Couldn't hurt to know your basics such as DNS, DHCP and NAT. If you don't already. Learn all the wifi standards. As much as possible for terminating cables. Perhaps, info about all the various tools you'd use as well.

    I was having problems with my ASUS Wi-Fi dropping out frequently. I decided to reset my Wi-Fi to Factory Default. Well it worked. It doesn’t drop out much at all anymore. At first I thought it was the Wi-Fi router going out but I did some deep reading about this problem could have been. One guy on ASUS website said that it could happen if you do the QoS optimization on a lot of your devices. During heavy use the router will have a Rain Man moment where it doesn’t know he to prioritize. Then it just says I’m dropping everyone. There’s could be your #11. Take it easy on the Quality of Service feature 😂

      Linksys stuff made by Cisco were fantastic, but when they sold Linksys to Belkin, they became pretty lousy.
