Thanks for the honest review! Ridiculous they used such a cheap quality lcd in this cabinet- especially at $700. Even more bizarre is they decided to use premium speakers in a golf cabinet but than went cheap with t2 and ridge racer.

Great review 19k! I’ve had Golden Tee 3D for a few days now and I love it. It is a shame that the monitor is washed out while viewing at an angle. Hey fox this cab is now $449 on RC Willey. I was thinking about selling my golden tee for this one, is it worth the upgrade? Also does the CL cabs look dumb next to the quarter scale cabs? Does golden tee XL stick out to far to be put in a aisle of arcade1ups? Thanks!
Nice review kfox. The thing about arcade 1up is it always seems like they take to steps forward and one step back. The terminator cab is great except for the super low sound that gets drowned out by the feedback on the guns. At the current price point things like this crappy monitor is not acceptable. I guess as long as enough people buy them they'll keep cutting corners.
Great review as always! I foresee Arcade 1up a year from now releasing the newer Fore games in this XL format making people sell their original XL cabinets. I still have my OG GT that is now over two years old still playing great. I actually tried the other day to order this from Best Buy and they won’t deliver it to my house so I’m holding off until I can get one shipped. I would buy direct from arcade 1up but like being able to return it if needed. Btw....your T2 video with you opening up the guns helped me out tremendously when my blue gun started rattling. I was able to fix it very easily. Thank you for that video also!!
There always something that’s not right with 1up with every new cab released. I think you are right people who get future 4 player cabs with this monitor will hate life. Let’s hope they are taking notes from you’re review👍
Nice review Fox. I too got mine. I told you before I missed out on the first one, so I am really excited to get this one. My thoughts are it is pretty nice and a huge step forward for A1U. I love the larger size, the sound is EXCELLENT and the overall functions are great. The build was a little difficult (that's ok, its the first one in this form factor), once I got to the sandwich step, that is when it started giving me problems. Here is my take on the screen, yea it gets washed out to the far left/right or far up/down, BUT if the player playing the machine can see everything clearly, thats what matters. Would I want them to of used a better screen yes, but for a single player (at a time) game it does its job. NOW when we get to the 2 player and then 4 player cabs, yea there is going to be a HUGE problem! I feel like these monitors were bought last year or quite a few months back and they were bought in a huge bulk bundle and now they are sitting on them waiting for cabs..... They may be sitting on a huge mistake.
I sold my OG cab and bought the XL hoping they'd nail a "perfect" "upgrade" unfortunately everything you said about the monitor is correct. I don't regret buying it but I know it could/should have been much better.
As always, an excellent review. How really annoying that Arcade1up got many things right with this cabinet and managed to screw up the most important feature.. the bloody monitor! As you said, no excuse for that. To save a few dollars they will p*ss off so many customers. Fix it Arcade 1up!
Got mine yesterday I agree the screen is cheap and I prefer a better one. My ball doesn’t roll as smoothly as I expected. Feels like it’s hitting something win I roll it back. Other then that I like the look. This size are the only ones I will buy from them here on out. Hopefully they fix the screen issues with future cabs
These are the same 8 ohms 3 watt speakers that are in other gen 2 and 3 cabinets. The first gen cabinets have a larger speaker. I believe those speakers are 4 watts.
Great review you got it 100% right about the monitor, it is really to bad They didn’t use a quality monitor, this could have been a great cab love the bowling game one of the reasons why I bought the cabinet.
i don't think they'll be using different 19" monitors any time soon. they probably did a huge order for them at a discount. i'll be surprised if these same monitors aren't used in pro.
I don't think the Shaq screen will have the same issues. If you tilt the cab forward the monitor doesn't wash out. The Shaq or pro cabs won't have the same monitor slant.
Great review. That screen situation is such a let down. I've also been hearing reports of the trackball not working properly on some cabinets. When they go for a power shot it won't register 😒 😑 iam definitely going to wait for a sale if I ever get this cab. I live in Canada so the cab is $899. To expensive to have any issues
I tried to look at Panel Look to see what the claimed viewing angles are for the panel. "Lite star" doesn't show up. No google hits on either model/lot numbers. Doing a quick search, there are 37 possible 'in production' 19" TN backlit panels, 3 of which are flagged as 'gaming' application. All 3 are AUO brand. Wasn't that the gen 1 panel manufacturer? Those all claim at least 80deg viewing in all directions and 1280x1024 (5:4). There's 5 'in production' 19" Sharp VA panels too (85deg viewing angles on all those...). The cab looks like much less of a 'toy'. Too bad the monitor is a bummer. Reminds me of the Countercade panel swap video :) At least those were most definitely single player. Golden Tee is a game friends would conceivably gather around. No friends allowed!!! :)
I got one and the issue I have is the trackball. It's not tight fitting like the original cabinet so it throws everything off. I'll have to take it apart and check it.
I think arcade 1 up should contact you early in the build for your review before going to mass production it would increase their sales dramatically based on your opinions
So I’m confused it says legacy but has the pro features? It looks to have the ki pro features but says legacy does that mean they are going back to the drawing board for the pro? I don’t get it
Congrats on the new cab kfox. Still looks nice. Viewing angle probably necessitates 1 player at a time which is how the ROM runs anyway. But too bad it's not a 19" BOE quality viewer
While Golden Tee is probably not the cab for me, I'm glad to hear about the overall improvements to the quality of the cab. Hopefully they'll be able to get some BOE monitors for future cabs, but over all it sounds like a net positive sign for things to come with future releases.

I was planning on getting the Shaq NBA jam and im hearing from multiple people that the 19 inch monitor has issues and already modded my original nba jam which is now a 3 wheel switch driving cab. I was going to add more games tot he shaq anyway but i was hoping to be able to re use the monitor . Now I'm basically going to be paying $700 for MDF and Graphics and i guess joysticks if i decide to keep those in . Hopefully they can hear the complaints and change out that monitor
i can get a 65 inch 4k tv for the price of this. This is a high profit product and its inexcusable to cheap out on the screen at this price point especially considering it the main motivator for people upgrading. This would have been a home run if they would have spent about 20% more on the screen. Id love to get this but the monitor is a deal breaker, the OG golden tee is the only cabinet without any fatal flaws and works great
Does anyone know if they ever changed up the monitors? I ordered the cab from RC Willey's for $349 delivered. It gets delivered tomorrow. I guess I'll find out!
19kfox, Yeah, even though room is a commodity for me and I've had to become much more choosy on the machines I buy, a misstep like this, unacceptable monitor quality, makes it a pass for me, even if I had the room. Thank you so much for this great review! This makes me cross my fingers that we'll get, believe it or not, a couchcade version of Golden Tee with all the games included on the cab. I would love to play these games on my 120" projector screen :) vgv
I dont mind the price hikes, but seriously, if you are going to charge 200-300 dollars more than what it originally use to be, that damn quality IS EXPECTED at that price point! If it had good quality at that price it is acceptable. But with that horrible screen what were they thinking? And before you defend arcade1up by saying "hey you always play in front of the screen." That damn excuse doesnt work for me! How many people here turn on all their cabinets just to play around each one of them, and see how badass it looks and feels like you are in a real arcade? Just put mine together and absolutely think this cab is great. Grand Slam for A1Up. I was concerned that the 19" monitor wouldn't make a significant difference from the usual 17" we always got, but the 19" monitor is really nice! Great size for standing right in front of it. I didn't notice the monitor being that bad.
I refuse to buy anymore arcade1up cabs unless they change a few things. 1. Shooter cabs need at least a 19 in monitor, 17 in is unplayable. 2. Stop putting the same games on different cabs, how many versions of tempist or pac man do you need? 3. The monitors should look good not washed out, unacceptable for the price

It's definitely challenging, you can change the difficulty setting on it too.

Looks like there is if you Google BOE 19”, but maybe the aspect ratio is off or another issue.
