Shame so many people probably never listened to this album, it's the first one I ever bought on cassette. I was hooked on it for months. Listening to this now, it was so ahead of its time. The guitar tones are amazing and the vocals are on point. Still have the CD blasting in the car from time to time
This album/song will always bring back fond memories. I first listened right around the first time I read Watchmen. This album and that comic will always bring the other to mind when I partake in one.
You know what? If you look at his music now, i could relate to Linkin Park. Where rock meets electronica. I bought his album the first week i heard Spaceman. whatever you guys say, i think he was one of the pioneers of rock & electronica music.
The hell you talking about?? Spaceman was the biggest selling single of 1996 in the UK (Selling 420,000 copies in 1 week) since the Beatles "Can't buy me love" 30 years before it. It was also number 1 in 23 countries.
@@pulikino Obscurity is a relative term. 90% of all 15 year old kids today have never heard of Frank Sinatra, Led Zeppelin or even Prince. Obviously those would be obscure to them but not so much to those 10% of them who know music. And what the public (mostly ignorant) calls "obscure" I wouldn't use a measure of anything. Several *geniuses of history* would rank as "obscure" to them. Marc Birkigt, Sir Alec Issigonis and Colin Chapman. Automotive engineering legends. Obscure names to the public. Akira Kurosawa, Orson Welles, D.W. Griffith, John Ford. Highly regarded movie directors. Obscure names to the public. Scipio Africanus, Gustavus Adolphus, Alexander Suvorov, Subotai Baghatur. Amazing generals whose names are obscure to the public. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the Napoleon of engineering. Obscure. Don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying Babylon Zoo were an incredibly influential band but what I DO say is that *90% of the ignoramuses out there don't know great people and can't tell sh*t from shoeshine, and therefore aren't fit to judge what's obscure or not no more than a chimp is to be trusted to judge culinary dishes cooked by master chefs.* And yes, this also includes what they think is "obscure music". Besides Spaceman, this was one of the other good songs from The Boy With The X Ray Eyes. All this time I didnt know it was also a single and that video was made for it. I also liked Zodiac Sign and Paris Green as well!
They used my 74 Monte Carlo @ 31 seconds 295 50 15's on 8.5 x 15 corvette rally wheels. It was 1995 or 6, they saw it for sale on Auto Trader called me and rented it for the day. This is the first time seeing this video. This was before RUclips. If not for youtube I would have never seen it.
Jas Man is a genius and needs some re-recognition. The Boy With The X-Ray Eyes is a fantastic album (iTunes it UK posse! And ebay it U US guys!) and the other 2 albums are great too
i listened to this on my brother's discman in the car while our parents kept being disgusting with eachother one of the few good memories of my childhood 💚
As much as this song/video rocks, if they'd removed the animal noises and Jas had toned his performance down and made it a bit more sinister I think this video might have worked a little better. It's still pretty awesome though.
Never listen to The Boy With the X Ray Eyes album. It will take you to an absurd dimension but full of wild fantasies. Once you are trapped there, you will never be able to get out
Yes, i totally agree! I already try to do that with some 90's bands i like or with some actual bands that i think underrated: i download the album and listen to it on the road in my car!! Or i sing it with my BF. Best effect! ^^ And sometimes it works with young adolescents. What a satisfaction! ^^
I remember someone refering to Jas Mann as the proto-Molko :o) Though Placebo are great, it seems Babylon Zoo's flunk was a cruel twist of fate. Strikes me as a precursor to Mechanical Animals era Manson, too. & of course BZ drew on a rich seam of glam history themselves.
You can see the Suede influence...but def the Bowie and Bolan. Also...others followed. Noel Fielding musta based Vince on Jas Mann. I think this knocked Spaceman off the #1 spot in Greece. How's that for a snooker?????

Respect your opinion but don't agree.
The first 2 tracks and the last are good, the rest is just boring and the songs are way too similar.....
@@gabix7488 I like all the songs on this albums which is pretty rare. For me the best song on this album is "Fire Guided Light".
Dunno. It was a bit mixed. Some bangers like this track and a lot of boring dirges.
@@famakate my favourite too is Fire guided light ❤🔥 2. Spaceman 3. Animal Army 4.Caffeine ... Great Album!
I from Malaysia.i have this album cassette...
The guitar riff is off the scale AMAZING!!
Yas i love it so much
Artists were so much more creative than nowadays
This just sounds like mockery of Lenny Kravitz, hilarious.
Anyway I disagree and goodbye.
@@BusinessZeus bye 😘
@@BusinessZeus Who's Lemmy Kravitz?
This band came from somewhere in the future but placed in the past... 👏👏👏🎸🎤🎹
Yet sound completely 90s.
Damn ... we all reduced this band to their one mega hit "Spaceman" and it turned out we underrated them massively.
You should all be lucky enough to have been a teenager in the 90s.
Memories of a happier time ❤️
I was 🎉
Best album of 1996!
A forgotten classic....
oh, I love Jas , he is great , so ahead of his time, so misunderstood...come back Jas Mann!!!
one of the masters of the 90´s without a sigh...
I have this album! love it!
This album was really good.
So under rated. So brilliant. Freaking 90s art.
Babylon zoo needs to come out for Record Store day. Both albums would be good and would love to have them on vinyl
Still gives me goosebumps...awesome songwriting.
This album/song will always bring back fond memories. I first listened right around the first time I read Watchmen. This album and that comic will always bring the other to mind when I partake in one.
It has to be said: that's one amazing combination of memories to have there ❤️
THAT riff is everything! ❤
"Tyrannosaurus, marching towards us"
Probably the greatest opening line in the entire history of recorded popular music
MASTERPIECE. Facts.
that rif is amazing!
Jass, youre the man
Kick-ass song and timeless video, love IT!!!!
I agree. I even like it more than I like Spaceman.
Desde pequeña que amo Babylon Zoo! Y a mi amado Jas😍
wooow, this song is out of this world,
Psychedelic!!!!!!
lol i remember buying this epic single in the 90s. i was sooooooo coool.
Awesome tune, and horribly under-rated...
maybe they are ahead of their time
Great song! This video is amazing and funny. It seems that Jas had lot of fun while filming it!

Nine Inch Nails meets Oasis
I love the guitar.
I think, in those years, the computer generated images were a tool under the command of the creativity, but not the absoulte ruler. GREAT VIDEO.
Its a fantastic video for its time
90's were the BEST!
Yes, some Light-time swich Satan hates.
Unashamedly screams 90s music in your face - Has a Mansun feel, no idea but I'm feeling nostalgic for this period/sound at the moment

Jas is so cute ❤️
this is better than alot of the new music thats out, it has that catchy tune you can just mellow out to and i love it
Cool song & video!
Seeing all those wild animals in this was pretty cool. We're not the only species on Earth but we sure do act like it sometimes!

Amazing
AWESOME
one of the bet song ever!
people always ignore the other songs by a so called one hit wonder band when often the can be so good.
great group....they boke the record for fastest selling single when they came on...earlier record was with beatles...
What the hell...they sound like a 2020 rock band...where r they...want more of them

It is very fine video. It is good.
énorme ce morceau un killer on entend + parler d'eux quel dommage!! c'était un groupe de fou i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
God I
why does this remind me of stone roses 'I wanna be adored?'
Cos you're deaf?
Because the (guitar)melody in certain parts of it is from "i wanna be adored"
Your hearing is fine😉..
..but not everybodys..
Very similar bass line.
That and the riff is a lot like "Are You Gonna Go My Way".
It would be funny to reintroduce this album as it would have never been released and watch the reactions from teens or '20 something and the market

GREAT!GRRRRR!
Awesome song. Look at these suckers at these days, I havent seen a new good music for a looong time
Kick-ass song, how, and more importantly why, on Earth did Babylon Zoo disappear into obscurity?
probably because they were a rubbish one album wonder
Karl Hughes i don't use to comment but i always wonder why there are so many people who waste energy critizing other ones...so funny!!
but aren't you subtly and arguably, indirectly criticizing them by criticizing their comment? That makes you a big, smelly hypocrite
The singer now owns a successful film company doing well I think
you probably didn't even read about what happened to this band, don't you? you just repeat cheap stereotypes.
let's make a petition and send him... COME ON PEOPLE!
Come on, there is no way this cannot exist in higher resolution? Has to be at least in 480p somewhere!
