Here's a midi file at half speed of the first 8 bars to play along to. This will play in quicktime on a mac, Command L will loop it. I know nothing about PCs but of course there will be a midi file player out there...

Hi! James, I was taught this tune back in the 70's, but I like your version better, and I am going to learn it. Thanks for posting it, and keep picking, you are great.
Dude! Great job. The British have soul.
Taj Mahal's version - one of my favourites - Thanks!
Fabulous. Probably the only accurate cover of Taj Mahal’s version on RUclips and tabs (thanks so much). Why aren’t you posting more on RUclips. You’re a great picker.
Really nice job with this one JK - Almost 10 years later and still getting views. Thanks for working this out and posting it!
Wonderful. Thanks for posting the tab. I had never heard this tune before.
ELITE!!!
Very sensitive interpretation. Thank you.
awesome! My goal for the next few months is to learn it as good as this
Thank you for this, man. Really, thanks
Thanks for this! Something to get my teeth sunk into. Awesome
Ive got the first 8 bars down at like 2 thirds the speed! Satisfying
Plays like Taj, looks like Harry Dean Stanton.
Fabulous... fell in love wit the tune in 1974 when a friend got a DJ copy of TM's album, but never had anyone to teach or show me. You do a verbatim version right down to the effects. Your 6000 views are a crime! Thank you, thank you, thank you...
I love this version James, and beautifully played. Have you got some other tabs to offer Sir?
Super interprétation
Thanks for the explanation & tab. I've noticed you never put in the third finger, whereas there's often thumb-middle play even when the third string is played (that usually is assigned to index). Is there any particular reason for that?
GREAT!
Brilliant! Thanks a lot.
thank you Denny Coelho from Idaho who taught me his version. Great sound from that guitar - what brand is it?
cracking
WOWW!! 😆

Buck Dancer’s Choice a la Taj Mahal, not the original by Sam McGee. But very pretty.
James, love your performance of Taj Mahal's version, which as you say is excellent. I first heard it back in the 70s and have been playing my version of his version for years. But my version isn't very good; yours is much better. Thanks for posting the tab also, though there are errors in it. For example, bars 150-152 are wrong. I believe you are playing 7x7x5x (where the first 7 is the high E string), followed by 8x9x7x.
Thank you sooo much. Years looking for this tab!!
Superb, really exciting to hear and see, thanks! Beautiful playing!
Great fingerpickin’ mark hollis
Great job, James! I have been fooling around with the Sam & Kirk McGee version for the last forty years, but I really enjoy this version too. It sounds more African to me (maybe a conscious choice of Taj Mahal's). I think I will be tackling your tab. Thanks.
that was a fantastic job. well done.
I’ve been working on this a long time and thought I’d got it sorted-but man you’ve nailed it!
Nailed it, Taj's mistakes and all; I've been trying to play this for 40 years, since i too got a DJ vinyl copy. I can't thank you enough...!
bravissimo, maestro. but the link below the video for the tab is dead/disabled. can you pls reply with a working link to tab.pdf? many thanks.
SO good
awesome!
Fuck yeah dude you shred
