    I thought of having spaghetti for dinner but all I have is gluten free sphagetti and last time I made one of these, it was a horrible experience and had to throw it away so I checked on RUclips and found your video. Now I will cook spaghetti later in the evening without worrying about the stickiness. Thank you💙💛.. and i noticed that the video is from 2017 and I checked whether you are still uploading videos or this is the only video like most videos in RUclips but it's really nice to see you still upload regularly because you explain very lovely and in great details.. keep uploading videos.. I'll subscribe❤

    thanks for the tips, i.e. the rinsing, and even the use of the wooden spoon. Also, the nine minute timing is helpful.

    Need to use much more water than wheat pasta.
    Water qty is based on how many ounces you are making. You will see more stickiness if not enough water.
    Timing depends on what your pasta is made of, as well as how much you're making.
    After more than a decade of gf, the best tip I learned. Have a large bowl of ice water ready. Drain your pasta. Plunge it in ice water to stop the cooking. Feel that pasta has cooled. Then drain a second time.
    Gluten free pasta can then be used for cold or hot sauces. It will not turn to mush.
    Your friend probably did not do the above to .
    Also Gluten Free pasta Takes Sauces differently, Whether Hot OR Cold dishes. You need larger qty of sauces. They do not react with sauce the same as wheat pasta.. they will seem harder if not enough sauce used in cold dishes. They won't be as creamy feeling because all the sauce is absorbed in the noodle.
    If you are wanting to make a goulash or baked pasta dish. Do the same as above, but stop closer to al dente. Drain. Plunge into ice cold water to stop cooking. Drain. Then mix with your ingredients to bake.
    Let your leftover pasta dish cool as much as possible before putting lid on and refrigerating. That will also stop it from turning to mush. If on a hurry and possible, put leftovers in another dish that is already at room temperature so the pasta will cool down faster.

    Wow, this video really helped!!! I mean wow! Every single time I made gluten free pasta, I thought I HAD to add oil. The pasta always turned out mushy and DISGUSTING. Even when I somewhat "nailed" the cooking process, the pasta still had a mushy texture. I followed this method, and my pasta was cooked beautifully! No gooey mess 🙂. Thank you!

    What sucks, is that it seems nobody makes *whole grain* gluten free spaghetti. Or if you find it, it usually costs much more.
    This needs to change.

    For 48 years I've heard ur to start with cold water but why?! I finally found a reason for it in my city water newsletter. It said its because of the water sitting in your hot water tank can pick up bacteria or heavy metals more than cold water which does not sit.

    • @jen_rivas
      @jen_rivas  3 года назад

      Interesting! I’ve never heard that.

      @@livenfree When you start with warm or hot water it starts to cook the pasta from the outside in as opposed to cooking it from the inside out when you use cold water. This can cause a weird texture of pasta or a mushy pasta

    Firstly you definitely put way too much water for such a small portion of pasta. Also you don't have to keep turning the pasta around just let it boil on a reduced heat and it should be fine.
