If you are a fisherman, you are going to be fishing, not recording. That feature is a gimmick. For what the Garmins do they are 100% worth the money. I have 106sv up front and a 126sv at the console with the get56 transducer and livescope. They are reliable. I’ve had hummingbirds and they spent more time getting fixed and wound up broke anyway. I will never buy that brand again! Garmin just work…everytime. No glitches or failures. The resolution is top notch. I use the 12 at the console as I can very easily pick out fish with it. The 10” up front is for livescope and it is amazing. I do recommend that if you buy a Garmin, STAY AWAY FROM AMAZON!!!! I had 2 refurbished/used units sent to me. One was the wrong series all together! The sellers on there will try to rip you off, so be fore warned!!!
@@lukawilliams4822 for what ive seen up to 100 meters is doable with the most expensive livescope.. otherwize its not really made for those depths.. depending on the ducer u purchase... because there are plenty.
Other than the unit that was the wrong series, how could you tell it was used/refurbished? I just bought one on Amazon for their Black Friday sale because I had a bunch of points saved up and just saw this comment…
knowing what you know which is way more than me, what finder would you pick for a 12.5 kayak? I am only just now starting to research these ,,,found out side imaging and portability are two data points to look for. Any advice you or your viewer base can give me would be much appreciated
I think this really depends on your budget, what kind of kayak you have (are you using a paddle, is it peddle drive or do you have a trolling motor?) If you are only using a paddle, Side imaging may not be super useful for you because to get an accurate scan you need to be going in a straight line and that is difficult to do when your just using a paddle. if you have a trolling motor or a peddle drive kayak side imaging would work great! As far as what fish finder would be best, that really depends on your budget, what places you like to fish ( freshwater rivers, lakes, saltwater), what kind of fish you are going for. I have found that the major brands all make really good units (Garmin, Lowrance, hummingbird), they all kinda excel in different areas. Garmin is really good with their contour maps, Livescope, and 2d broadband sonar. Hummingbird and Lowrance have really good side imaging, not so good maps, not great live scope ( Forward facing sonar). if you are a beginner, personally I like Garmin the best because the UI and settings are really easy to use and the maps and core sonar features are the best on the market.
Thanks for the info! By doesn't work with other trolling motors what do you mean? I purchased an adapter cable and my sonar works on my Terrova. But that's all I need. The cradle is a hassle if you don't make sure it snaps into place. Listen and watch the snap and it's ok. For me, the things you mention aren't a big issue.
Hi Scott. Sorry about the lack of clarity around compatibility. You are correct, with a Y cable you can use sonar from the built in transducer on one of these trolling motors. However, what you cannot do is seamlessly integrate with the trolling motor, drop a waypoint, and tell your fish finder to navigate to the dropped waypoint. The heading sensor is also not compatible with any Garmin unit, this means that you are using your built in GPS heading sensor rather than the one in the trolling motor which would greatly improve your ability to navigate to waypoints. Thanks for watching! have a good day!
@@JonR35 same. Send me the link if you find one. I might buy one of the UDH2 units soon just for the more responsive UI, the maps take forever to load on my UDH unit and it’s getting on my nerves
Here is a guy knocking Garmin but just promoting himself. Why knock Garmin? All the shit you mentioned is available in the specs before you buy Garmin. Ford wanker, not GM. That is what it boils down to sonny boy.

I own echomap uhd2 95sv, and you can view screen captures on the unit. Go in parameter menu and select the image viewer.
Thanks for the info! I will see if I can add a note to that section of the video indicating this!

I saw a boat very similar to yours yesterday on the way to lake Buchanan at around 6:45. Is that yours?😊
Yeah that was me. I was in a blue hatchback. Went to inks lake didn’t get much time to fish but caught a big bluegill and a Guadalupe bass.
I cant find one video of someone using the 93uhd2 on the water. I wanna see how much the double pixels make.

As far as software goes i can view and check my recording through my active captain app
Thanks for the comment. Do you happen to have the GPSMap chartplotter? I believe that one has this feature but the Echomap Units do not.
@FishOclock89 it's a echomap 65sv
Couldn’t disagree more
What points do you disagree with? What do you think are the 3 biggest issues (if any) with the Garmin Echomap units?

I saw a video that to can buy a universal cord to convert the trolling Minn Kota to your Garmin
Share the link please !
@@FishOclock89 it's for US2 only not for the trolling motor itself
It has to be the universal sonar and cannot be the mega sonar.
