    Good rule of thumb that is taught by a lot of sounder classes is (this applies for both side imaging & down view):
    Finding fish = Brightness low, Contrast high - This really makes the shadows of the fish really stand out.
    Finding Structure = Brightness High, Contrast low - This will make fish shadows generally harder to see, but really make land marks "pop".

    I've learned a lot from your videos thank you. I have the Garmin 9 inch. What settings do you recommend for down view if I'm using the mega down high frequency? I know the cone angle is smaller than at 455hz so I'm assuming depth plays a part. Is there a video you can direct me to that covers this?

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  7 месяцев назад +1

      From my experience the higher frequencies do require raising contrast a bit and sometimes brightness depending on if I’m searching fish or structure. Because the sonar cone is just a sliver in clear vu I don’t believe Garmin units change the cone angle, although I could be wrong.
      Here’s a video I did on sonar cones

    great info, thank you. Quick question, if you have 3 different displays on the screen e.g. side view, traditional sonar, and clear vue. Can you adjust contrast, brightness for each individual display?

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  4 месяца назад

      Yes, just select the menu button and it will give you a choice of which sonar screen menu to adjust. The only thing you can’t adjust individually is the backlight brightness.

    Have a garmin 94sv that the tracking stopped working or I hit the wrong button. What are the correct settings or how to turn it back on.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  2 месяца назад

      Open up your chart, hit menu bottom right then select “waypoints and tracks” then “active tracks” take a look at the record mode and see if it is set to “wrap” and record interval set to “resolution”. Also see if you accidentally turned something off that has the bar next to the setting turned gray instead of green. If you would like the setting spreadsheet send me an email to Doubletfishing@outlook.com

    Hey man just watched your podcast with wendel. You really know these units. I have the 74sv with 54uhd and I recently purchased the garmin vision chip so I can have relief shading. Problem I have is that I can’t create a combo with the relief shading map and sonar. It will only let me use the relief shading chart on its own. Do you know about this or have a solution?

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Месяц назад +1

      Welcome Peter, that was a lot of fun, I’d never done anything live.
      No I don’t think you can use relief shading in a combo screen.

    TY for the excellent videos. I noticed that you generally fish deep lakes. I fish Florida where the average depth is around 12 ft. or less. Can you tell me what frequencies I should be running for optimum
    performance on my Echomap Ultra 106 SV ? When I used standard sonar the bottom picture looked like massive weeds where there where none so I'm very confused on how to get the best
    picture of the bottom in such shallow water.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Jay, assuming you’re talking about clear and side view images frequency isn’t the special sauce to a good image in shallow water. First is speed and direction, the best speed I’ve found is 5-6mph and because of the narrow sonar beam turning directions messes up the image, straight or wide turns works best. Another feature is setting the the scroll speed to auto and turn the interference and other advance settings lower. Not sure if you have the recommended settings cheat sheet, if not send me an email and I’ll reply back with the attachments. Doubletfishing@outlook.com
