You are hands down, the best tutorial personality for miniatures here on RUclips. Your videos are not only very informative, but also full of personality and joy. Thank you for creating and keep up the great work!
😍😍😍 this is super mega iper appreciated!!! You totally made my day 😁😘
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Your tutorials have improved my painting so much (especially the speed painting tutorials). Now I am slowly convincing myself to try to use oils and that is solely due to your tutorials.
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I hope it made your day as good as your videos continue to make mine!
@@AdasPK come to the oily side 😂!!!
@@AdasPK Do it!!!! Oils are just simply incredible and thanks to Marco we have tutorials on how to use them effectively......my rubbish painting skills got better a million fold
Looking at that "I survived 2019" from all the way here in 2021 really hits 😂
Lol, soooooo true!!!
5 months later and it STILL hits.
Christ! Those are the hands down the best Corvus Cabals I've seen!
I am absolutely blown away. Sincerely, THANK YOU!
😊😁😊 Thanks to you!!!
Once again, a brilliant approach to a project. There are many good miniature painters on the internet, but you, Marco, are a real artist.
😍😍😍 Thank you soooo much!!!
I love the new lighting setup for this video. Makes your face look less washed-out/pale.
Thanks a million!!! Yeah it was time to try a more stable setup; but in real life I'm still definitely pale 😂
OMG this oil paint technique is revolutionary!
😁😁😁 It's an old figure painting technique that we forgot after the advent of acrylics 😉 (still used a lot in military and tank modelling!) that can be really really really useful in a lot of situations!
Using acryling paints? NO
Using dozens of factory made colors with fancy names? NO
Using dry brush technique? NO
Still delivering stunning results? ABSOLUTELY!
Sir, from all the mini painting channels here on youtube, yours seems to be the most unique when it comes to colors and techniques. And that is totally positive! Take my sub!
Thank you soooooo much 😍😍😍!!! Yep, my point is that what really matters is the result; all the techniques are modular and optional and there isn't a single way or correct, defined steps to obtain what you want 😉
this is unreal. i learn more from your videos than twenty other mini painting youtubers. What I like is that you use all kinds of different paints and techniques and it all hangs together
I watch so many mini painting channels, but I guess I found the best one now...
It's rare someone shows all those techniques in detail and is a pleasant character all in one channel!
Please never stop doing those videos, I am enjoying them so much!
😍😍😍😍😍 Thank you sooooo much 😍😍😍😍😍 Really really really appreciated 😊
That’s the best resoult i ever seen in a speed paint project!
After spending weeks off watching miniature tutorials, I can just conclude that you are probably the best!
You're so amazing. You have helped me to see the benefits of painting with oils. They were scary at first, but I'm starting to get the hang of this technique of base coating in acrylics, then making my models come to life with oils. Thank you, sir. :)
I love the project. In fact i am gonna buy CABAL RIGHT NOW AND DO IT MYSELF. amazin secrets in this video, not only to paint the band but to inspire in the mental process to start a project
Thanks a million!!! For me it's always really important to explain the process that defines the choice of a scheme and the mood of a paintjob; it's where most of problems are solved!
You're so fast and with great results that it hurts to see! Complimenti Marco, veramente un'ispirazione vederti lavorare!
A+ color choice
Now I know how to Paint my Tzeentch Army😍
Uuuuuuu nice!!!
Doesn't seem fair that I can only hit the Like button once... Awesome stuff Marco!
😍😍😍 Thanks a million!!!
As always, the result is amazing in those speed painting videos !
I finally got to see this video my friend. Thank you for posting this.... I love how they came out...
Utterly genius your description through to the story and of course your execution of your work. A True Master.
I really appreciate how practical and approachable your videos are, and this is a great example of that. And such great results with techniques that I think are really in a lot of people's reach.
Glad you're back. Missed your videos. I hope you had a great holiday. Great ideas in the video, as per usual. Can't thank you enough for the quality work, videos, tips, and tricks that you provide. Almost done my Retributors. Gonna post them soon.
Thank you Obi Wan Frisoni!
Hi! Happy new Year!
Yep great holidays but I'm really happy to be back to work, I missed talking with you 😊
Uuuu nice, I'm super curious to see the result!!!
You just inspired me to get some more inks and try oil paints. So awesome.
😍😍😍
Quanti spunti interessanti in questo video. Grazie Marco!
😍😍😍 Grazie a te!!!
I love this colour scheme. There is no way I have the skill to repeat it but I'm going to have to try 😂
watching through from your first to this one, I can honestly say I'm so impressed by this method of painting, and you've brought me along the whole way explaining so clearly what you're doing and why you're doing it. Excellent tutorials and truly amazing paintjobs.
And he’s back! Great video as usual. 👌
Ready to rock 🔥🤘😁🤘🔥!!! Thanks buddy 😉
I hold my breath every time you douse those models in oils. One day I will have the courage to cover my delicate airbrush transitions with oils....one day. GJ sir!
😂 I admit that the first experiments are frightening but after a couple of tries you are already in total control!
Its so much easier than you think. Its way more forgiving than water based acrylic. Give it a shot
Do it. Just wear nitril gloves and open a window when using that mineral spirit solvent. The pigment is sexier, and the oil content adds jewel like translucency.
Thanks for all the encouragement guys. We shall see
Awesome content as usual Marco. Glad to have you back.
Thanks a million!!! It's nice to be back to work, I can't stay too long without painting 😅😊
This video is so inspiring, I have watched it several times by now and I am still learning from it. Will come back to this many more times, thats for sure :)
Looks so easy when you do it. It's not that easy to replicate. Keep bringing the good stuff. Ima going try oil now.
😅 Keep trying, it's just a matter of practice! Even an uniform coat of paint followed by a wash seems difficult for a beginner but everything is really really easy I promise!
Great tutorial with some beginner friendly yet great looking techniques. Well narrated as well, thank you!
Thanks a million 😍!!! Yeah I wanted to start the new year with a sort of recap of the major themes of the channel
Awsome job as always! My Corvus Cabal is in the mail and should be here tomorrow. Thanks for all the great tips and techniques.
cool cool cool colour choices. inspirational.
Simply put, this was an amazing tutorial. Job well done friend, and thank you for what you do for the hobby!!!
😍😍😍 Thanks a million to you!!! 😘😘😘
Can you please do a video listing all the equipment you use, like the little metal mixing trays, brushes, paints, etc. Thank you!
Would like to know as well!
Man, that "I survived 2019" badge sure aged like milk, huh? Great video as always.
Marco, you're juste great man. Love your enthusiasm and techniques/knowledge sharing. You need more subs.
Wow these look great, but I'm especially impressed by the speed
ALWAYS learning something new from you. Grazie Mille for all the work you put into those. Even if somebody doesnt want to copy and paste the effect or model, there is something to learn ;)
Wow! Just masterful! Your deep knowledge of color and light is apparent but the excitement in your voice and cool accent never let it slide into a lecture. Your mastery of so many tools, techniques, and mediums is just a joy to watch. Masters make it look easy and not only to do you make it look easy, you make it look fun. Totally subb'd!
What an amazing tutorial! Thanks so much!
Thanks a million to you man 😍😁😍!!!
What an awesome tutorial and excellent finish, love what you do so much
😍😍😍
Amazing work! I love the colors and depth.
Just beautiful
😍
Welcome back! I must be honest, I'm super impressed by how effectively you use all your different tools. I can't wait to try oil paints on my own models. You're my favorite miniature artist.
Thanks a million 😍😍😍!!! For everything and seriously, from the heart!!!
Great to have you posting videos again, hope you had a great Christmas 🎄... love the adding inks to the metals, I need to pick up a new set of metal paints... Look forward to catch up soon....
Hi!!! Thanks, it's good to be back after these very intense holidays 😅. Can't wait to start 😉
Mai perder un video di quest'uomo, s'impara sempre !
😍😘😍😘😍😘😍
Best painting videos, very informative
😍😍😍 Thanks a million man!!!
I got this box for Christmas. Perfect!
Awesome timing!!!
I really do LOVE these speed painting videos. :)
😍😍😍😘😘😘
Welcome back, happy New year and what an awesome job. Great work again Marco.
Thanks a million man 😉!!! Glad to be back 😁
Happy new year Marco! Great new video, the finished minis look fantastic and your explanation of every step in the process is excellent!
Happy new year to you too 🎉🎊🎉!!! Thanks a million man 😊
Love your work Maestro
Rad times ahead?! How much more radness can my feeble mind handle? I'm ready to find out, bring it on Marco! Seriously though this is another great vid, LOVE the color scheme & the focus on atmosphere. It's a hit with me.
😂I hope much much more!!!
😍😍😍 Thanks a million buddy 😍😍😍
Dude! Awesome work! Thanks for those impressions and suggestions! I really love your content, go on with such a good work!
😍😁😍 Thanks a million!!! 💪💪💪
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Thanks going out to you, I bought myself an airbrush 2 days ago and learned alot with your videos. Not to mention the inspiration you are providing! It's awesome. I even tried oil paints a few days ago and they are a big enrichment! Thanks and see you soon!
@@oldscr4tchgaming952 😍😁😍😁
Inspired by your videos, I invested in a small range of colors of oil paints and white spirits. I'll have some time off early next week to give them a try. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice!!! You'll not regret the purchase 😉
Really great video as usual! About to paint these guys myself! thank you for the great information!
Wuuu great timing! Thanks a million 😊
Thanks for another amazing video! Awesome miniatures and love how you use different techniques without a problem! One video i would love to watch from you, would be one that explains the different kinds of use and finish of the varnishes available. Mostly because many painters varnish their minis at the end, as they will be handled by other players on the board. Also a video explaining all about the oils and differences with acrylics will be nice if possible of course :) Thanks again.
GAAH, they look amazing! :D
I can't wait to use my airbrush more, going to sit down right away and try to get a better understanding for dilutions on my paints so I can get my Tau army done! :D
Great vid again bro and very informative
Great stuff! Glad to see you back Marco. :) I want to ask you a question about contrast paint, as I have just now started trying them out. In what situations do you use them instead of inks? I notice in this video you use them in very similar situations, and in a previous video you implied that they are basically the same thing. So why for example did you airbrush the base with contrast paint rather than an ink? Was is just because it happened to be the colour you wanted, or was there a property of the contrast paint that particularly suited the situation?
Thanks a million 😊!
Inks and contrast paints have similar properties because that are an high density suspension of pigments in a very fluid medium so the real difference is in their finish, matt for contrasts and glossy/satin for inks, and covering power; inks for the most part are very transparent or semi transparent, while the contrast line tends to cover much better (but never reaching the point of being opaque like the cerulean blue I used in the video or a white ink).
I jump from one another depending on what I need in the moment!
Very nice technics I need to try !! :)
You are a great painter! Nice job!!!!
Thanks buddy!!! 😘😘😘
Marco, thank you for another awesome video and hope you have a healthy and happy New Year. I did have a question the small metal cups you mix your paint in, do you have a link for them for those of us in the US. I thought they were the ones from Mr Hobby, but those do not have the divot in them to make pouring into the airbrush much easier like yours do.
Thanks a million 😊 and happy new year! Sadly I still don't have a reliable and stable link to share for the paint trays... Sometimes they pop out on eBay and the brand UStar makes all the different shapes. My stash is a souvenir from Korea 😅
Really love your videos! Realy like the approach you have with inks and simple, contrasting, beautiful paint schemes. I'm starting a t`au army and It`ll be largely inspired by your style. Do you plan on painting any vehicles on your channel? I`d really appreciate a pointer or two on how you would approach painting mechs and vehicles!
Thanks a million 😊! Yes, I already started working on a series about realistic vehicles and armours; a lot of my tricks come from historical and tank modelling and everything can be easily applied on sci-fi vehicles 😉
I really enjoy your video. Thank you
Thanks to you man 😊
Love the speed painting videos. This is something that takes a lot of skill - to develop an interesting palette and apply the scheme quickly and efficiently using various techniques. It's not a skill that you see many able to do effectively, but you perform brilliantly. Great job, Marco!
Thank you sooo much man, really appreciated!!! 😍
Words cannot express how happy I am that you're back from Holiday and my project for the first half of this year is the Cabal too! HELL YES! Welcome back Sensei! :)
😍😍😍😍😍 You are best!!! Thanks a million, it's good to be back 😊
Perfect timing with the Cabal!
Two questions Marco. 1) how long do you have between applying oil wash and being able to wipe it off with q-tip? 2) where did you get those little metal dishes for mixing stuff with the little pour spout?
Thanks for your videos.
If i understand correctly it is best to use oils last. In general oils works over acrylics. But can you apply acrylics over oils??
Or maybe you can seal the oil with a coat of varnish before applying Acrylics?
You do some great work, love your unique style and color schemes.
Do you have any preference wh40k vs AoS in terms of which ones you like painting and which ones you prefer collecting?
Thanks a million! I'm probably a little more into fantasy; I like everything from the fantasy universes while in sci-fi I'm mostly into humans and orks but in general it depends on the inspiration and the books/comics/movies of the moment 😅
Perfect balance between time and interesting models, thx !! Would be interesting to see what you'd do to them if you allowed yourself more time. Have you tried oils though an airbrush for more control? Or perhaps not?
Thanks a million! Oh yeah they work quite well in the airbrush and you can get really smooth transitions especially on larger models
Really great video! Love your speedpaint :)
😍😘
This is your best warcry band yet. Makes me want to buy the box and copy the scheme. One question, the primer looks more dark purple when it’s beings applied then more magenta when it’s dry. Is this the case or is your camera playing tricks?
Thanks a million 😍😍😍!!!
It's a dark purple, actually quite cold; few minutes after the "magenta shot" I had to change one the bulbs on my table with something with the wrong temperature and that very warm magenta came out 😅
Great video! Thank you very much fir that! :)
Thanks a million to you!!! 😊😍😊
You are an inspiration for me. Your humor makes me smile. You bring something to the space of miniature painting that encourages us to look to the larger art world and world itself for inspiration and knowledge
Thank you!
Question, the Molotow paint marker refills, are those safe to use as a primer? Will they hold to plastic/resin long term? Thanks!
Thank you soooooo much 😍😍😍 really, from the heart!
Oh yeah, Molotow paints are made for street art and mural painting so they are incredibly tough and grab really well every possible material!
Brilliant again Marco! The mood/setting, airbrush, Contrast paints, oils, and final highlights gives such a quick and effective result which you show so clearly. Thank you.
A question regarding the 'odorless thinner from the hardware store'. I assume this is mineral spirits? Also, I find the odorless thinner has a very long drying time, do you find that? And, how long do you wait before painting acrylic highlights over the oils?
Thanks a million!!!
I use White Spirit (I'm still not sure what's mineral spirit, but I suspect it's the same thing... In Italian is "Acquaragia" so you can imagine the problems with names 😅).
The wash dries pretty quickly, white spirit is very volatile and I like to clean when the paint is easily playable so it just take the tame to wash the models.
After the cleaning thanks to all the rubbing the surface is completely dry and I jump almost immediately to acrylics!
Mindblowing as always, Marco! Absolutely sensational. Bravissimo! Keep going, you're doing a good job :D Haha
😂😍😍😍 Thank you soooooo much!!!
BOOM baby!!!!! Welcome back Marco!!
😂 Thanks buddy! Ready to rock 🔥🤘😁🤘🔥
I could really use a tutorial on how to mix my paints in the bottle. It seems some of my paints come out of the bottle very differently... I do have some bottles with an agitator in it but even with the agitator some of them stay quite watery. Anyway once again your whole painting process is super interesting and refreshing and the final product looks amazing!
Absolutely beautiful, welcome back buddy!
Thanks a million man!!! I'm really happy to be back 😊😁😊
They look great!Say,if I would paint my Idoneth Deepkin army like on this video (because this atmospheric look suits them so well),do you think that monsters and characters should be painted the same way (violet base, blue and then white) or would you change colours for mounts or heroes?
As many have said here your channel is among the best on youtube for tutorials and personality
but i'd like to know where you got that small metal mixing dish
Thanks!!!
The paint trays/wells come from companies like Tamiya, MrHobby, UStar, (now also AK Interactive has its own ak-interactive.com/product/modeling-paint-wells/ ). You can find them in any model shop or with better prices on eBay (sadly I still don't have a stable and safe link to share); my stash is a souvenir from Korea 😅
Great to have you back, and what an awesome video to start the NJM year with 8) Really like the colour scheme! Maybe you can try a speedpaint without the airbrush sometime?
Thanks man 😊!!!
The airbrush is a big part of "the speed thing", but I'm working on something more brush oriented 😉
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Yeah, obviously it will take longer time or look worse :D I think it would be nice for 2 reasons: 1) Too see how much difference the airbrush actually makes (either how much longer similar results would take or how it will look after same time) and 2) To give some more ideas on how to incorporate your techniques for those of us who don't have the airbrush.
Anyway, I really enjoy watching these, just keep doing what inspires you :)
This looks amazing! Maybe I don't know what the products are, you are using but the step from 10:00 Minutes in really confused me. What exactly do you use to make those kind of shades and why? Thank you for the video!
Great video, I'm following along with my own warband now. Is it just me, or did you not use the burnt umber oil paint on your palette?
Amaizing work! Just got down to painting all of my stormhosts and khorn-guys, but I can't use an airbrush at home, so I have to stick to brushes :( I would love to see some batch painting from you but without an airbrush... I just can't imagine glaizing such a huge army after zenithal by hand, though I've seen your video on painting with only CMYK on a dwarf...
5:36 interesting, in my experience even white artist ink isn't that glossy because of the how naturally matt the PW6 is. Will consider giving this a try sometime.
Hi Marco I was wondering can you get the same effect/work time with water mixable oils as regular oils?
Hi! I did a lot of experiments with water based oil paints but I didn't get the same satisfying results; a key point of a lot of oil techniques is the low surface tension of their mediums and with water is difficult to achieve the same result...
what an absolutely wonderful accent :D and great work too ;)
😁Thanks a million! 😅 I'm not really proud of my accent 😅
hello marco, after watching your videos i decided to invest in a cheap airbrush which for now is doing the job perfectly, i'm doing an army of pale golden custodes and i want to try your oil method, just bought the paints you recomended i have all the tools, my question is the following: should i oil everything in brown and then clean up with cuetips (since they are golden i figured brown would be better than black, maybe a hint of blue on top to had a coldness in the mix?), will the end result be still shiny? thank you so much for all your videos you are the best on painting in youtube i think !
Awesome! For golden custodes I would go with black with a bit of blue or green inside to push a bit more the contrast; to keep a really shiny finish is better to do precise and localised washes inside panel lines and details. It's a little more time consuming but the finish will be cleaner and more polished at the end
Amazing video. I’m hoping you will answer. I heard painting acrylics is a problem over oils. Is that not true?
Thanks! When oils are dry (and with this kind of dilutions and all the cleaning the drying time is pretty quick) you can go easily go back to acrylics without any problems 😉
absolutely stunning. may i ask whats your backround? are you a professional artist thats using his skill on his hobby or is this all actually self taught?
Thanks a million!!!
I'm a doctor 😅 but now I live the crazy life of the professional figure painter. I just painted for passion my whole life, studying from a bunch of different sources, experimenting and accumulating a lot of knowledge on the subject 😊
@marco
Hello could i use regular citadel washes instead of oil paints for the shading process? i have troubles finding white spirits around me for some reason
also i am going to use this on my DARK ELDAR
i got deep violet , cerulean blue from liquitex thank you for all the videos keep them coming buddy!
This is so cool man. I'm in love with your color schemes. Thinking about buying a set of vallejo game ink on amazon after seeing that leather effect. Would love to see a guide to airbrushing deathguard!
Thanks 😊😁😊!!! Vallejo and Scale75 inks are very good with powerful tones; they dries a bit faster than others but it's not a bad thing
Loved this video, subscribed. Just one question about INK. I make my zenital pre-shades and then when I want to put on INK I mix it with flow improver to make it even more transparent when putting it on the minis. But often I notice I have a problem with this. When I want to add a wash after that, the wash removes and cleans some areas where I put the INK. So is that a problem since the INK is too much diluted or? Thanks if you can answer on this one!
Great stuff!
😘😘😘
catching up on your vids.... cool stuff, just started trying out oils this way.
