    A potential trick for lamps: if your set is built up of plates and bricks (opposed to one big base plate), you could leave a hole in the bottom of your set and then prop the set up high enough to even put your phone or something under, and use the torch from your phone. You'd then construct the lamp around the hole in the set. Hope that makes sense.
    Great video as always.

    Light flicker is the emperor Palpatine of Lego animation. Choppy animation is the Darth Vader of Lego animation because Loneclone Productions (Luke Skywalker) sensed the good in him.

    I just want to add one more item to "flicker". If using a DSLR, like many people these days, your camera's iris will stop down for each snap of the camera. Due to subtle variation in IRIS position can cause flicker because each picture has to close the iris each shot. Find a way to keep the iris set using a cine lens or disconnecting your lens while the iris is locked in place. Just a tid bit.

    Coming from my own experience in theatrical lighting; colour can really enhance your scene, but learning the principles behind how light is absorbed or reflected by an object and additive and subtractive colour mixing

      thanks, man! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Do you like the amount of info in each episode thus far or is 20 minutes pushing it in your opinion? I am considering cutting them down to 10mins - it would just mean half as much info per video.

      @@Onbeatman I think that would be fine. Just make sure to keep the QNA. And then the main points. You've been uploading a ton so just do whatever you feel. Also one kinda random question and I wont be offended if you say no, but would you want to collab? My animation isn't quite as good as yours but I think it's fairly close. It's up to you.

      Onbeatman I think you should keep it the way it is. It helps us go longer in between episodes if we have more tips and tricks to use. Plus that lets you focus more on projects and your personal life.

    cellophane gift wrap can work as a very low budget gel. You tend to get quite a bit of it in the pack vs proper gels, but it doesn't last as long as proper gels, and you are more limited on colour choice.

    Tape? Tac putty is waaaaay better cuz it more stiky and you can put it under the set so it's kinda invisible

    😭 I have no money to buy lights! XD I only have enough for one light. Do u have any ideas of how to work with one desk lamp?

    • @Onbeatman
      @Onbeatman  4 года назад +2

      I'd say if you are working with one desk lamp it would be best to focus on your animation technique and don't worry as much about getting all technical with the lighting! People are really looking for a good story and nice movement first and foremost - so if you're working on your stop motion technique and storytelling, by the time you save up for a 2nd or 3rd lamp your knowledge will be far beyond what it would be if you wait. The cool thing about stop motion is there are so many areas to work on so if you don't have the resources to work on one thing - there is always another thing you can focus on in the meantime! :D

    So I'm using a logitech c920 and for some reason when ever I slightly move my minifigs there is always a dramatic lighting change. I use desk lamps (that don't flicker) and I get rid of all natural light. I don't know what the cause of the light flicker is. I think it might have to do with the camera. Do you know what I should do?

    • @Onbeatman
      @Onbeatman  3 года назад

      Hey! Definitely a camera issue. Gotta make sure you download the manual software on your computer to make sure you can control all of the cameras settings. Will have to do a google/RUclips search on how to download because it’s not easy to explain here haha. But once you have manual capabilities you should be able to stop the camera from doing that by making sure nothing is set to “auto”.
