This was pretty helpful, light flicker has ruined a lot of my stop motions
It’s such an annoying problem! So glad you found this helpful 👍

@@Brickology keep up these tutorials
One extra tip for those using the "Stop Motion Studio" app. When you set-up a shot, the app might indicate that it is in manual mode (with the "M" icon selected), but you STILL have to press the "M" in order to get it into manual mode. Failure to do so can result in flicker.
Thank you so much
THANK YOU
Yup this is definitely the complete way to avoid light flicker thx for the tips

Thanks for this tuto. It's very good to start! There is more things to do to avoid light flickers like good light, dark room (without white walls), electricity voltage stabilisation, and couple more but I think you give us all "accessible" solutions that people can do at home :)
Thank you soo much, this is 100% going to help.
This was awesome! I always benefit from your tutorials! Thanks for everything!

@@Brickology You can watch some of my videos if you would like! ;)
Thank you so much! This helped a lot!
I’m so glad to hear this! 😃 😃
A great tutorial and a very pertinent problem. I've even had flicker problems on non-stop-motion videos. If the light source gets too close to the camera, you get some of the same problems. Great guide for the solution - manual settings is very often preferable :-) I agree on the sun-thing. It's interesting though, in many other picture-taking situations the sun is preferable! Thanks a lot for sharing this and keep up the good work :-)
Thanks for the tip
No problem!! 😀
Fantastic advice! Especially the dark clothing which is something easily overlooked. If these great tips don't solve your problem, Flicker Free by Digital Anarchy is expensive but works great. I'm not affiliated with them I just tried getting rid of flicker from using photo strobes to light the scene and Flicker Free worked great (unlike another plugin I tried). I wouldn't recommend using photo flash for lighting stop motion but it did work in this case.
Thank you it was really helpful now I will have better animations
Glad to hear that! Can’t wait to see how your work progresses!
I always liked your videos
My Thac submission was plagued by light flicker. I needed this.
I need this!
Glad to hear it!!
you got great editing XD
how do u remove image banding ? and thanks for the vid ! i would say u r on of the most underrated stop motion youtubers out there
What lights do you recommend for. Good price?
Question: how can you do the stop motion if you are right in front of the room light while fiming? I really have problems of light flickering.
You don’t want to be in front of the light or else you’ll get light flicker. Your shadows will get in the way 😊👍
Hey, when I do stop motion like black rays go up and down and I tried everything and nothin works
Yes light flicker is my biggest problem
Hopefully this will help with that issue 👍!!
One question does dragonframe reduce light flicker
what lights do you use ?
Can you use your room light
Stop motion studio on tablets doesn't have a manual I use either AL or P
hey I was wondering. what software do you use for your stop motion. also how do you connect your camera to your computer. I have seen you do it in other videos and I am wondering how you do it
I use Dragonframe software. It’s an investment but well worth it for me. I also use a USB cable to connect my camera to the computer. 👍 thank you for watching!!!
Hi im a top fan !!!!💓💓💓💓😅😅😅😂😂😂😂💓💓💓💓😁😁😁😁😁!!!!!
The black out my room thing won't work. I have SIX, no seven- windows. This is probably why my light flicker is so terrible
Why does my camera automatically brighten the image even though it's on manual i even have all the lights closed :(
If the camera is on manual mode it could be other factors like if light is reflecting off things such as your own body. Wear dark dark colors. Is the room completely blacked out? Sometimes the lightbulbs used can fluctuate in brightness. The best we can do is make the room conditions as consistent as possible 😊👍
wooooooooooooooooooooo
I have had trouble with light flicker, but I don’t think it’s caused by any of these. It may be the way the light is reflecting off the lego. Any thoughts as to how to mitigate this?
Btw this was a great tutorial and really gets in depth to how it helps, great job man!
Look into your camera settings. Like I have to put camera into manual mode. Then put ISO to manual. And focus to manual. Don't know why the first option is not setting others, but you might have some additional options that tries to compensate for fixed shutter speed.
i had done all of this then recently i stARTED USING A STRING OF LEDS and it made it better i think it was one of my lamps
Good thinking, that’s great you were able to figure out a solution!
@@Brickology yes i hate it when you cant
Could you do a tutorial on how to remove reflections from Lego walls?
Edit: I guess it was kinda solved in this video
Could you make a tutorial on how to make it nighttime in videos?
Just set your shutter speed to much lower than optimal. Also setting up all your light to cast as little shadows as possible might help. And use "cold" lightbulbs (or compensate with white balance for it).
It's a cinematic technique called simply "day for night".
I make stopmotion with an iPad ( I take pics with an iPad) so my angles are bad so anybody got an ideas for solutions
Sadly my phone doesnt have hole for ear puds i will try to find a way to get oictures without touching my phone
Okay, okay don't use the sun... WWAIT...holdup. I didn't know the SUUUUN moved. Did it? Cause I'm not an expert on space but I'm pretty sure the sun doesn't revolve around us.
Can you look at my stopmotion animations and tell me what I can do to improve. I'd appreciated it!

Great tips! If you do accidentally get some light flicker, there is a program called LR Timelapse (lrtimelapse.com) that can remove it too.
3:15 A really cheap way of doing this is to just record in the nighttime ;)
Hi
