Most forms of desalination are energy-intensive. Desalination has the potential to increase fossil fuel dependence, increase greenhouse gas emissions, and exacerbate climate change if renewable energy sources are not used for freshwater production. Desalination surface water intakes are a huge threat to marine life.
I agree that desalination maybe a way, but as a country that has not gone far into renewable energy, there is no way JA can afford it. We need to invest more into renewable energy sources 1st.

Jamaica is losing its natural water supply because of Global Warming. Over the last 100 years Jamaica has lost 100 rivers. We have half the rivers we had 100 years ago. None of this is our fault. The entire world is losing water for the same reason, Global Warming, and we are all concerned worldwide about the disappearing water supply from natural sources. So it will only get worse. Conservation is only as good a water supply. The Government can only provide stop gap methods which will soon be impossible because we will soon lose all our water.
