45 years old, passed MSF course, bought an 05' Roadking Custom with 17k miles, most enjoyable experience I have had in a long time. Love it.
Brian Hart I’m 63 on my 2009 😀😀
Im 36 and still waiting for my opportunity to ride. Still got a while 😕🤷♂️
Copy that
Love my 2005 man. I just put some 16 inch Burly bars, love them.
Hi Brian Thats Great Did You Have Any Riding Experience at All Before Buying Your Roadking ? i am 48 and Did The Harley Rider Academy Back in Feb.2020....i Love The Roadking and Thats What i Really Want and Love The Softail Line But Had One Question ? Did You Have Any Problems With The Weight of Bike Etc. and i Have Heard The Roadking is a Fairly Easy Bike To Ride....Thanks and Ride Safe.
Im a trucker, and i love cruise control
Just bought my first Harley.... and it's a Road King. This video is one of the ones that greatly influenced me along the path to choosing my first bike. Love it. Rode 800 miles in the past few weeks between snow and freezing rain storms.
My favorite time to ride now is when everything is covered in snow except the streets. Nothing like it...like driving through a Post Card. Stay safe!
Was this the road king your first bike as well?
@@harvestingseason2725 Technically no, but being off riding for the past 30 years, it felt like my first bike and was a real handful for my old body.
@eugeniustheodidactus8890 may I ask why you havent ride the past 30 years? Is it the dangers of bike riding? Am genuinely curious
@@harvestingseason2725 I just had other things to do. If anything, riding is more dangerous these days due to distracted drivers. Every time I go out, someone crosses the double yellow while texting! I'd sure like to be back in those pre-911, $1/gallon days !
If I wanted a dashboard and digital distractions , I’d be in a Lexus - I like the simplicity in order to take in the outdoor experience- The Road King is it !
Sean: remove the windshield and throw it away. Two minutes later...riding with the windshield😂
I like my plexi .. specially in the winter .. even in the summer it is pleasant to ride .. i might take it off for a short hop someday just for Sean's sake ..but haven't yet .. i just got to where i like not have the wind beat me to death .. habitually ride close to or above three digits .. what wind ...oblivious
Well he could say it is better for the sound recording. But in reality he just probably did the intro after the ride...
@@mikehill4776 Agreed. Quick release windshield is the best. Throw on for long highway trips makes it way more enjoyable. Take off for crusing around town.
bugs not nice.lol Once you use a windshield you will never take a bug beating again. Seriously, especially o hot summer day when you are cruising home around water at days end and it's dark. It's really a safety issue. I have literally had to pull over and clean my glasses / goggles what ever. I'm a goggle guy but i use glasses some times. When you got to pull your goggles up to see because they are matted with bugs your eyes are next. lol at least a short windshield to deflect them over your head so they don't hit you in the face at night. not that much of a daytime issue but night and especially around water.
I love my bug screen!
I rode to over 5 states in 2020 with my wife, including yellowstone national park. It has been some of our favorite memories together, this is truly a fantastic classic motorcycle.
You know it's going to be a great day when you wake up and see a new SRK test ride. Thanks for the video. Quite honestly, it's probably the first time where I've been convinced to consider a Harley for my next bike.
I love my 2017 Road King. The standard has such a nice ride because of the full-size shocks compared to the Special models.
Wasn’t to fond of baggers but when I sat on 2020 Road King special... I fell in love... rode off with it that same day. Awesome bike.
Thank you for this video, it brought back many pleasant memories. My last motorcycle was a 2006 (IIRC) Road King Classic in Lava Red Sunglow. Personally, I believe that the Road King Classic is the BEST motorcycle made, not just the best Harley Davidson made. My last ride was Monday, 21 May 2007, when a '97 Fleetwood crossed the centerline and hit us (the bike and I) head-on. The Cadillac was totaled on the spot, the King had heavy damage but was re-buildable. I was severely injured, but the King gave me a better chance at surviving. Doctors didn't expect me to walk again, but I did. As much as I miss the riding, 24 accident related surgeries over 14 years plus my parental responsibilities are keeping me off another motorcycle. However, if I were to get back on a motorcycle, it could only be a Road King!
I had a similar experience in college that knocked me out of what was believed to be a certain Pro Football career. Tried riding again in my early 30s and it just wasn't cook'n. I've been Jones'n to ride for decades and then developed vetigo that presents about 90% of the time. A slight eye movement could put me into a spin that requires a secure seated or prone position. A couple of guys with a local MC introduced me to the Can Am line. One of their guys had to switch over after losing a leg. The Harley trike lacked the overall stability he needed so he went with the two up front with one in the back design. I follwed suit and have never been disappointed. My suggestion, if you're interested is to check out The Can Am Spyder F3S and/or the F3S with a touring kit. It may be the ticket. Especially if you like the idea of cruising/racing along in a three wheel Go Cart! Crazy fun!
Great you are still here man. Inspiring story.
Love my 2007 Pacific Blue Pearlcoat Road King Classic! Just put some heritage “style” bars on it and now it’s absolutely perfect. Keep the videos coming Sean!
nate oconnell
I was thinking about doing that with my 15 RK. Did you have to change cables & switch wires?
Thanks for showing 👍 in my opinion the Road King is the best Harley ever 👌😂
I love my 01 RK
sean: "I got one word for guys... road kingg"
me: thats two words
The Bible is called "The" Word but has 783,137 words in it so...🤷😂
Just got an '08 Road King... Such a sick bike... Love it!
Sean
My riding days are close to over for riding, But I love watching your ride reviews. By the way The Road Ring is one of my favorite bikes. I love watching .
I had to find an alternative too. Vertigo put me out. After a long period of research and test driving, I found that the Can-Am F3S and/or the F3S Touring is the best bet. If the streets are at least partially dry I'm out there every day. Best of luck and stay in the wind.
Love watching the videos, keep em coming
I just took my brothers road king for a ride (2006 I believe) I fell in love with that bike in a short time!
I just bought a 2016 Road King 3 days ago, and I totally agree!!!! The Road King is just a work of art, and you can literally jump on it and cruise all the way across the country and it just eats the roads up!!!! Very awesome bike! :^)
I just bought a 2014 Road King. I love it!!! And you are right. Everyone thinks it’s brand new because there is nothing to date it.
Well done! In the opening segment in particular, the imaging was cropped to perfection and moved about nicely to highlight the conversational points. Resolution and color really popped in this section as well. -Love your youthful enthusiasm. Due to your presentation, I'll definitely give serious consideration to this beautiful Harley model once my other two bikes are paid down. BTW, after being away from the state now for almost 20 years, I so miss my routes between Greensburg PA and Ashevelle, NC, especially as I think of doing them on a touring model.
My father has a 2001 Road King I have a 2019 Road King, best of the best.
Mine is a 2007 RK Classic, superb!!!
Mines an 01 road king too, I love it
06 Rk police

Please Sean!! I put a Busa in my rear view the other day on my Night Train...probably should've pulled over and see if he needed help
My wife and I just bought a 2021 Road King Standard. We so appreciate the knowledge and views of SRK Cycles. Excellent video !!
Absolutely loved my Road Kings. Had the backrest and 14” mini apes. Awesome on the road for miles. As for the phone, put it away and enjoy the ride.
I agree with you Sean. If I were to ever own another Harley, it would be the RK. I like the minimal, yet adequate touring features of this bike (e.g. hard bags, touring chases, etc.)
I love how you put imformation thats what you need and insight thats helpful. I enjoy your posts. It really helps me know what l really like and want
Love my 2017 FLHR with the 107.
Recently threw a fairing on it from Reckless and now I call it my King Glide.
I own a 1998 Road King Classic Annv. Edition. Bought it new now my 20yr. old son loves it as much as I do.
Bought my first HD in 2022, a 2019 Road King w/6k miles, and it is now my daily ride. I've been riding for the better part of 30+ years, and I should have been on this bike the whole time. Very happy with it.
Love my Road King. Great ride with none of the bs. I prefer leaving the windshield on.
I much prefer the look of my bike with the windshield on. Plus, the ability to ride in well into winter far outweighs the smoother riding I get without the windshield.
I like the wind in my face, but for longer rides or unfavorable weather the windshield is a game changer. As for looks, I think using/not using the windshield completely changes the character of the bike, both are cool.
I agree, a timeless classic that captures Harley-Davidson in all its glory. The Road King is pure comfort and luxury with a butter smooth ride 😎⚡️💪🇺🇸
Love my 2003 Road King Police. First Harley, and first motorcycle since the 1969 Honda 360 Scrambler that I bought new and sold when I left high school. When I stop for gas or a snack, often some stranger will approach and comment on my beautiful classic black and chrome motorcycle. The admirers range from teenagers to old timers like me.
I love the fact that you give information regarding the bike you are presenting, keep up the good work!
Yes, that is what you do in a review.
I bought my first motorcycle from you a couple years ago (Vstar 950), Today I'm going to pick up my brand new Road King Special, in no small part because of how you've talked about the Road King In so many of your videos and how when you have the option to own just about any bike you want, you own a Road King, that speaks volumes. Thanks for all you do Sean (my name is Sean as well)
Sean: I bought my Road King from SRK back in January. You're going to love your new RK. I've been riding and buying bikes for 45 years but never owned (or wanted) a Harley---Sean's videos changed my mind. I think the Road King is the best bike I ever owned.
Road Kink is my favorite HD, for all the reasons you said, and then some...
Love the channel keep up the good work man be safe on the roads brother
The Rushmore changes were great. Made me trade my 2011 road glide in for a 2016.
I have a 2008 road king classic i love this bike. Did one 1000 mile run in one day round trip very happy with it
I just rode to Muscle Shoals on my road king from Nashville and was a great, smooth ride. Love the RK..
I love my Road King, just a great Harley!
The Road King is probably the most beautiful bike on the road.😎
Well it is “king of the road!” Lol
Sean
You are the best Salesman I ever knew, and they way you use your talent to sell motorcycles is amazing. I am lucky to be in Mexico, otherwise I ‘d probably had ten motorcycles from you!
Had a 2004 road king. I would love to have another & ride again. Lost it in a head-on with a car. I survived, but he killed my two friends. Anyway, thanks for sharing the beautiful bike. Ride on & stay off the center line.
The Road King is a great bike. My current bike is an 18' M8, previous was a 04' Twin Cam, and my wife is riding a 99' Evo. Love me my Road King.
I wish Harley would bring back the Road King CLASSIC :/
They're all Classics. Just add white walls.
@Julian Crooks i got some brand new ones from 05 ill sell you 😁
I agree, love my 2008 R/K Classic. It's a 1st year throttle by wire which was a little laggy just off idle, so I added a Vance & Hines throttle pak & the difference was night/day! With it's matching factory leather tourpak & cruise control I don't hesitate to travel the interstates.👍
bags were a pain and almost useless/white walls suck/prefer cable throttle,,,,had one
@@lonarbuckle9788 why were they a pain and almost useless? Should I stay away from buying any baggers then?
Just bought my first Road King 2018 107. Love the bike.
I've owned several bikes, currently 07 Kawasaki nomad 1600 my second one, and always wanted a good Harley. I rented a RK in 2010 and me and the wife road over 12 hours around Arizona and that's when I realized one day I'll have one... Till I can afford what I want I'll be happy with my Kawa and keep the rubber side down and in the wind. Me and my son's enjoy your videos!
Just traded my ‘08 Speed Triple for a ‘14 RK with 5,700 miles a week ago tomorrow and haven’t stopped grinning since. My first HD too. Amazing bike!
Great video! I ride a RKS. Just went from Minnesota to Missouri and back. Did it without windshield, now I want one. lol
Hooah
One of my bikes is a 1670 cc MT-01, so I understand the appeal of Harleys.
While I road a Fatboy my brother had a Road King and I loved that RK. As much as I loved my Fatboy and kept it well maintained and clean there was a different aura experience I felt riding his bike. I noticed it turned more heads cruising around Southern California and the riding comfort was as if I was kicked back in my well worn Lazy Boy and enjoying everything around me. I promised my wife I would quit riding motorcycles after selling my Fatboy and moving back to the East Coast. During this crisis, however, I lived vicariously through other people's adventures in overland camping and exploring but the majority of videos involved watching Sean test ride various motorcycles. This 2014 Road King is HOT! Although I'm mostly a purist preferring black, this color really stands out with the chrome and white walls.
Love My RK Special. Just took her for a 500 mile Trip. It was a dream.
Love your channel just found it recently. have you taken out a Harley-Davidson breakout I'd love to see that
Bought a 1200 Sportster a month ago, but I didn't really like it, so when my stepfather was going to sell his 2001 Road King, I bought it.
It's slow as hell, handles like a boat and weighs a ton - and I love it.
This very motorcycle was number 1 on my buy list in 2014. But I was a bit worried about riding it on dirt roads. So I bought the pictured Super Tenere. But now, I'm looking at these again, though used. I don't like radios on bikes. I don't like the ugly fairings, but I do like the windshield. This a good traveling bike, not a race bike. I'm also looking for a cruiser with the saddle much closer to the ground. Looking at trikes too.
You're right, it's my favorite model too. I've had my 98 for 19 years. Put a lot of miles on it. Eventually I installed a 6 speed and a S&S 111. Fun to tour on.
Awesome! I just have my 2001 Road King std to my son last year as I had purchased a 2006 Springer Classic a few years earlier. We both got the upgraded cams tensioners and oil pumps done this year. Even though I love the Springer, the Roadking is better all round machine. Which 6spd did you go with? Bears only or whole new case? Thanks
@@telcobilly I went with the gearset. Had to buy few tools to do it myself but tools are an investment IMO. It took a weekend or two to complete, it was the first time for me to work on a gearbox.
I have a 2001 model Road King with only 24,000 kms. A great bike to ride and looks fantastic. You are right about the panniers and how they open.
Ultra classic all the way
Big tourer *without* all the plastic! I'll never get rid of my RK!
AND a big tourer without horsepower!
@@bigpapa8152 Big Papa Then don't buy one...my God it's without power! The RK isn't about horsepower, Shawn spent a significant portion of the video discussing the fact that the RK isn't about horsepower, and most owners don't give a flip. If 0-60 in under 5 sec isn't enough for you, go buy one of those appliances (maybe even a high powered scooter!) powerful enough to really plant you deep into the back of that SUV that cuts you off. Much deeper than some wimpy underpowered RK. (figure of speech...ride safe). Nothing wrong with craving power if that's your thing, It just gets nauseating, these incessant drones jumping on every H.D. review..."waaah no power" (it has perfectly adequate, usable power for most grownups), "waaah unreliable" (pure B.S.)."waah you can get a Japanese bike thats high tech, faster, more features, and half the price" (then go do that...ride around feeling so very efficient and smart, it's ok, you can't help it).
With Beautiful aesthetics, character, soul, a pleasure to ride and.look at, I'll take the RK anyday. I might not feel efficient and smart, but I'll feel happy. "Ohhh, but it's without power! Only does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds with a tailwind. So slow, not fast." Well, better pass then I guess (you, not me)..
Bullitt Well explained.
Earned a new subscriber with that little devotion
I have the exact same Harley--same color, etc. Bought it right when the dealer unloaded it from the truck and put it on the floor. I was the only one, other than the tech, who rode it. I changed the bars to 14" Wild 1 Chubby apes, solo seat, lowered it one inch by changing the suspension, put in a TTS tuner, different air cleaner, for stage 1, Rinehart exhaust, and went to a lower 13" Memphis Shades windshield, that's about it. Been to Sturgis twice on it, about 6,000 miles round trip each time. Been all over the western US, California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, North Dakota, etc. Prior to the Road King I rode HD Dynas, I still love Dynas but nothing can beat a Road King. I always say if it's bigger than a Road King it's an RV.
Love that you reviewed my favourite bike, and love that you're a believer.
I am definitely going to get one of these when I get the money.
Awesome videos very helpful I’m actually looking at a 2015 Roadking to replace my 98 shadow 1100
owned a 16 road king and now have a 14 road king .one of my favorite part is is the retro look . just chill listen to the wind and the engine
I'm 45 and I plan to buy Harley Davidson Road King 2005 next summer as my first bike and plan to drive 3000km
Very nice Video, I love my 2008 CVO Road King and still have to find another Bike that I would like better. Timeless and classic piece of Art.
Nice looking bike. I really like that wheel/tire combo on a Road King.
Just happen to pick up an 08' RK classic anniversary with 5000 miles on it this Feb. -same burgundy red color as the one in this video. Awesome bike -love the quick detach windshield. Nice video Sean as always, keep up the good work. And don't try putting a friggi leaf blower on this one:-)
I have a Road King & your right the cruise is a must!
I own a 2001 Harley Davidson Road king Classic best bike ever! Same color as video, you nailed it dude ride on!
Amazing Harley makes ABS an option. Most premium European bikes offer ABS, TC, stability control with IMU standard for safety.
A highly caffeinated review! Love my Road King, too.
Got me a 2013 ROAD KING. Love it. No windshield.
I have a 2016; I shopped for a Rushmore model. I've put 18,000 miles on it and love it. To me, this is what a motorcycle is. That look, that frame, those three headlights, that windshield.
How reliable is it? I really want one.
All my Harley's have been baggers. 2007 Road King Custom, 2011 Street Glide, 1996 Road King, 2013 Road Glide and I just picked up a 2014 Ultra Limited. My favorite was my Street Glide, but I really loved my 2007 Road King.
I was told once that one day I need to get myself a "real bike" (I have a Honda Shadow) and become a "Real biker." I laughed and said I just got done riding 5000 miles and it's the beginning of riding season how many miles have you rode?! One day I will get a Road King or a Heritage because that's what I have wanted since I was 4, but I will put on more miles than most "REAL" bikers I know. Love the mantra, "It's not what you're riding but where you're going," my personal mantra is, "It's all about the journey' not the destination." I have used that mantra to learn and grow in all aspects of my life.
That bs is what keeps me away from harley. A lot of crap from the owners.
a harley is a harley, there is no way around ... you can only understand once you try ... you don't know what you're missing ... but for the rest : you're right, man !
Agreed. Brand don't matter. I too ride more than many t-shirt buyer's I know. I have lots of bikes but for two up, my wife prefers my VTX over my road king. Calls it a cramped POS lol
I've found that it's usually Goldwing or BMW snobs that get all brand snooty. I like all bikes but I love my Ultra Limited.
I love my 1998 Road King Classic 95th Anniversary Harley the absolutely best Harley for just cruising around.
Awesome report. Thanks for the review
I don’t doubt what you’ve said but my number one bike is the Deluxe!! Without windshield!!
Now, I’ve emailed you Sean about the pros and cons of backrests. If you get hit from behind like I did you’ll break your back. I’m trying to find someone to design a backrest that will give away under X lbs. kinda of spring loaded. You know??
Thanks for a great video.
My first bike in over 25 years. My first Harley. Love the King. My last bike was Yamaha 750 Maxim. Miss the shift drive. Lol
Be awesome for you to do a video on Harley and what you think their future will be and what they need to do to become competitive again.
Okay the removable windshield is really pretty cool. I could see leaving that off most of the time but if I decide to go on a long ride put that windshield back on there
WHy do I feel like I just watched a review of a bike from 1973? Still.....great video!
Welcome back! It's been a while 🙏🏻
Love my 2011 Road King. Great bike!
I have a heritage softail classic and my next bike is going to be a road king. Very simular looking bikes. Love the look
I just came across your channel, and first and foremost, I appreciate the scripture part. On the other hand, I've owned a 2010 street bob. Bought it new. Then in 2013, I bought a Slim. What I've learned in both of these models is that personally, after two hours, they're not very comfortable to ride. I wish I could ride longer, but my butt can't take it. I wondered if all Harley seats are that uncomfortable after a long ride or if it's just certain models. It seems like you're very pleased with the Road King. Perhaps I should get a Road King next, and hope that it's as comfortable in long trips as you say.
Just bought a 2014 Road King and this video solidified my decision was the right one!
Easy detachable windshield just like my Tour Deluxe , awesome 👏
I've got a 2018 road king and agree completely r.k.'s are a blast to ride...
01 RK and loving every minute....getting the shoes check in a month (fingers crossed)
I have a 2020 electra glide standard. It is basically the same bike with the batwing fairing. The road king with no windshield looks great but 800 miles of wind buffeting and thumb sized bugs hitting you in the chest and face makes you wish for wind protection. I like the batwing with the glove box instead of something that will be out of date in a few years. Hopefully the 107 will turn out to be a good engine.
I own a 2014 and absolutely love it!
This bike looks awesome, can’t stop looking at it 😊
Still have my 2000 Roadking police edition. Feels good to ride it.
Just got one this wknd brother. It’s 2004. Only 30k on it same one in your video. Color averithing same one. I love it
I have a Softail Deuce and personally I am not into the big bulky bikes but that road king looks great!
Love your videos, buddy....from Australia
Had a 2016 for 11 days, and a pickup truck decided to turn left right in front of me and I destroyed my rk and in hospital 6 weeks and 8 days in a coma. My plan is when I completely heal to buy another one and ride again because the Road King was awesome.. same everything as in the video
I've been watching for a while, just bought and repaired 01 Blast. It's not bad, but me being a big guy, I have decided it's better to look for a cruiser. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
Cruiser are fun with out a doubt But a touring model for a big guy is almost mandatory you'll be happy and won't have to sell the cruiser to buy a RK
