I have found that lighters with a long tip such as the BIC EZ Reach are much easier for lighting alcohol stoves. The tip can really reach the bottom without burning your hand. If you search around you can find these types of extended lighters that can be re-filled at home.

Just purchased a SOTO one from my local outdoor store, completely agree with you!

Nice one, I'm doing the c2c next year to raise cash for the British Legion and I have a soto thermostack also but I am struggling to get gas cannisters so I've switched to alcohol (puck stove from outdoor gear essentials).
I've tried making my own caldera cone but cannot get the right thickness of al-oo-min-um lol! And that brings me neatly to you, - so top marks on finding this and sharing.

Hey Matt, thanks for the comment. I did the c2c this year in May (highly recommended doing it in May.). I’m releasing the video soon! If you have any questions just ask!

Use the exact same setup. Been through a lot of alcohol stoves and this one will stay. Stable, quick and efficient. Love mine.

Technically you had had Three small pots not Two because the soto one is a small steel pot and a small titanium pot that nest together to make a double wall mug. Sorry to nitpick, For as little as they weight it might be a good idea for each of you to carry a lighter in case you get separated or one goes bad or gets wet.

True! However, the stainless steel is less efficient and doesn't conduct heat as evenly as Ti so I wouldn't use it stand alone. Both of us do carry a lighter, should have mentioned that in the video. Ellen keeps hers in her first aid/safety kit. :)
