Someone brought up the idea of best DECADE moments.... Good idea or no?
good idea. how about the spoilers ?
Sounds like an awesome idea for both T.V. shows and Movies.
I'm so chuffed 🎉
That would be awesome
Omg yes!! Drinking my tea at 3 am and watching your video like the morning newspaper!
For me the best movie moment is the whole 3 hours of Oppenheimer.
1. Atomic Breath scene (Godzilla)
2. Conversation between Niels Bohr and young Robert (Oppenheimer)
3. Trinity (Oppenheimer)
4. Lucy Gray singing in the arena while being swarmed by snakes(Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes)
5. I'm Just Ken (Barbie)
6. Von Erich Brothers dance at Kevin's wedding (The Iron Claw)
7. Angus visits his dad (The Holdovers)
8. Bella's Dance (Poor Things)
9. Waterloo (Napoleon)
10. Black Friday (Thanksgiving)
Others: Fight in The Killer, Gale phonecall and Chase in Scream VI, Every action scene in John Wick 4
Oh I love some of these
My favorite scene of 2023 is that one banter scene between Gwen and her dad in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It's hard for me to describe the scene in a few words but it's a monologue scene and the monologue goes like this:
"You're a good cop, Dad. You know you put on that badge because you know if you don't, someone who shouldn't will. But you have to understand, this mask... is my badge, and I'm trying to be good too. I was trying so hard to wear this thing the way you would want, and I didn't... I didn't. I can do all these things but I can't help the people I loved the most, and they can only know half of who I am, so I'm-I'm completely on my own. And now I don't-I don't even know what the right thing is anymore, I don't know what I'm supposed to do, but I know... I can't lose one more friend."
The best scene of this year for me and one of my favourite scenes honestly ever, is the ending to Oppenheimer. The gut punch where Robert utters “I believe we did” truly topped off the movie for me. The imagery and visions that followed along with the score just impacted me unlike anything else I’ve ever watched
“I’m Just Ken” is taking it for me as the movie moment of the year. However the school/speech scene in Oppenheimer, the ending of Past Lives, the trampoline/injury sequence in The Holdovers, THAT scene in Dream Scenario, Flora and Son final performance, John Wick and MI7 big action scenes (Dragon’ Breath and train sequence), Atomic Breath in Godzilla and the chase scene in Across the Spiderverse were also some of the biggest cinematic highlights of the year and deserves to be recognised
Gotta be the Trinity test for me. That long silence, followed by a literal explosion of IMAX sound. I jumped out of my seat.
Dude you should definitely do this video next year. It was awesome. Anyway I’d have to go with the speech in Oppenheimer at #1 too. One of the best scenes in cinema history.
I love this video, I've even made an award show with my film loving friends and picking a favorite scene from a movie this year was an awesome debate with my friends. And if I had to say my favorite scenes in movies this year I would say between: The ending of Oppenheimer, The Party in The Holdovers, Balsillie's rant in Blackberry, The atomic breath in Godzilla Minus One, or the ending to Saltburn.
Cannon event explanation thru Miles's breakout of the cell was it for me. It hits every emotion.
For me definitely Barbie, Guardians of the galaxy vol 3, spider man across the spider verse, Godzilla minus one, and Mission impossible dead reckoning part 1. Those movies for me had so many incredible nice looking moments in them
For me the best scene of the year is in Oppenheimer when Strauss realized how he was getting screwed over at the end. Going on a rant about how Oppy doesn’t regret anything and how Oppy should be thanking him. Had me on the edge of my seat
Easily the most memorable moment for me in a theater was the talk to me’s Rylees possession scene absolutely shocked the entire audience and scarred us.
Moments from “ No One Will Save You “ stood out to me ! It was a great little SCIFI horror flick !
I'm glad that you put the Air Speech in the movie with the Micheal Jordan Pitch. It was amazing
I got chills in Across the Spiderverse when the others trap Miles in a Cage and he uses his powers to escape. Like 5 seconds of silence, then he sprints away as soon as the score kicks in. That's my moment of the year.
Absolutely loved this! Yes to more versions, or decade moments? (But that sounds so overwhelming ! ) Agree with so many here - and can't wait til Society of the Snow now!!!
You know what, I love the decade idea….
Gotta go with the openinyof spiderverse. The acting from Hailee Steinfeld, the music, the editing, the animation, the emotion, the dialogue, the sound design, all were absolutely fantastic!!!!!!! I'm talking about the entire opening, not just the drumming scene which is also a masterpiece by itself. In this opening we get: the best spiderman theme (daniel Pemberton killed it with the gwen theme), one of the best swinging scenes, the best use of exposition I've ever seen, the best dialogue in a spiderman movie, an amazing action sequence, and to top this all off, one of the most heartbreaking and emotional scenes I have ever seen in a movie. When captain stacy fired a warning shot, that hit hard man.
Oh god, how am I gonna pick…
The best for me is the twist in Oppenheimer (you know what I mean)
Also loved the Gale fight in Scream VI, the Oompa Loompa dance in Wonka, the whole first chapter of The Killer, Gwen‘s conversation with her dad in SpiderVerse, the first big fight between John and the blind man in John Wick, the ending of Talk to Me, the first date in A Man Called Otto, Rocket reunited with Leila (?) in GotG, the train scene in Mission Impossible or I‘m Just Ken from Barbie.
great vid!!!
Atomic Breathe scene was the best scene of the last 10 years. My mind was blown thoroughly gave me something I didn’t know I wanted or could have.
Some of my favourite moments of the year would be D&D when Cris Pine has a glitch 🤣🤣, that moment was pure laugh.
Also when they take Jarnathan 😅😅
I would of also said the trinity test scene from Oppenheimer
This was a fun video!
Great list Austin! I’m very happy to see I’m Just Ken make it on!
Loved the training montage and final fight of Bottoms. Rad stuff. Also can't look past "Nah, Imma do my own thing" in Spiderverse.
Loved this. More, more more! 😃
On it!
some good selections! Especially agree as well with the scenes in Past Lives and Anatomy of a Fall! And I'm just Ken of course!
Another favourite movie moment for me was the "Camp Isn't Home" scene in Theater Camp!
Love this list idea , and loved your list
Thank you 😊
My favorite moment of the year is in Leave the World Behind when Ethan Hawke's character is pleading with kevin Bacon to help save his son. Truly the best Ive ever seen hawke and I wish he would get more chances to shine.
Phenomenal picks. I thought Air was just alright, but that speech gave me goosebumps. An incredible scene. I’ve gotta say… my favorite moments include the ending montage in Barbie, the Trinity Test in Oppenheimer, the sequence in the jail in KOTFM where De Niro says “There may be a public outcry for a while…” and the final dance sequence in Saltburn. So many special movie moments this year. Here’s to 2024!
I should’ve included the Saltburn scene in my honorable mentions!
YES, I have the same favourite scene in Oppenheimer
Speaking of montage, i can't get enough of "can you hear the music" montage from Oppenheimer.
The music, the vfx, the sound, the edit, the Cillian Murphy stare it's just🤌
austin. i remember when the alpes situation happened. i can’t bear to watch one more movie about that horrible situation
This one truly hits hard… and it is by far the best!
I love the Fiat 500 Car Chase in Mission Impossible…one of the most memorable action sequences of the franchise.
Great video, Austin! You can tell you put in a lot of work.
Appreciate you my friend!
Nice list, my boy! I dig the theme. Happy new year to ya! 💪🤓
Happy new year my friend!
Oppenheimer insults saying " lowly shoe salesman " ... You know, revenge is coming.
Chills!!!
My 2 favorite scenes of 2023 were I'm Just Ken from Barbie and the Dragon's Breath fight sequence from John Wick 4
you should definitely keep doing this series this one is great
Appreciate that!
Excellent Picks! Oppenheimer’s also my favorite movie of 2023. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse [also known as Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse - Part 1] comes in second for me.
I agree with all the moments you've got that I've seen but I would also add the triple knife wipe in Scream 6
*still waiting on that review of the horror TUMBBAD 2018 buddy* 😢❤ happy new year bro 👼
Honestly, the final song from Flora and son. Even though the song is not great, I think it fits the characters and it was so emotionally satisfying.
The Killer restaurant scene with Tilda is better than the fight scene though
The Talk to me ending sent literal chills down my spine! It was amazing
That scene in talk to me made that whole movie for me. I left the theater so satisfied especially after just thinking"oh just another horror film" and not knowing anything else when I went in. If you haven't seen it.. see it+
My top 10 in NO particular order (spoilers lol but then who hasn't seen these films)
1. KOTFM - radio show ending (including the cameo)
2. Anatomy of a Fall - Daniel's crying scene with the social worker after the aspirin experiment
3. Anatomy of a Fall - the recorded convo
4. The Holdovers - "penis cancer"
5. Monster (Kore-eda) - the scene where the boys nearly k***ed in the train
6. Past Lives - the final goodbye
7. Maestro - Mahler Symphony 2 in the cathedral
8. Poor Things - last scene
9. Oppenheimer - the explosion
10. Barbie - 2001: A Space Odyssey
Great video Austin! On a side note, when are you doing the 2024 Anticipation video? I've been working on my 2024 list since summer!
Possibly tomorrow! If not, soon!
@@AustinBurke Awesome!
Eyes blind i'm pretty sure there's a representation of one of John wick crazy action sequences on this list , especially the one with the bird eye pov , it was mesmerizing.
👀👀👀
Hunham taking the blame for Angus is easily my #1
I understand other people's love for choreographed violence, but my favourite movie moments are so many of the scenes in Barbie (my favourite movie of 2023), especially the I'm Just Ken dream sequence. Thanks for including and celebrating it! 🎉🎉🎉
Such a good song!
My top 3
1.Motorcycle Jump-MI 7
2.Stair Case Scene-John Wick 4
3.I’m Batman-The Flash
I would've gone with the last dance in gotg 3, but that one works to
gotg 3 final battle hits hard
Where th is Jailer interval block, Leo intro and interval sequence, Animal Bobby deol intro and interval sequence, JDX intro and climax
I'm kinda surprised Pooh speaking from Blood and Honey didn't make it on here! 🤔
Bumblebee Bee returns to mama said knock you out.
That’s a good one
Before you said one scene from each I instantly said every fight from John Wick Chapter 4
I am still dying to see Godzilla-1 but it hasn’t played yet in any theatre within a 3hr distance from me. I have my fingers crossed that it’ll finally be playing near me this Friday tho🤞
While my list doesnt look anything like yours, despite having a few films crossing over. I do agree with you on Oppenheimer's The Gymnasium Speech easily being the single best scene of 2023. By a long shot.
❤️
Honorable Mentions:
House Chase (No One Will Save You)
The Nuke (Leave the World Behind)
10. Damon’s Monologue (Air)
9. Staircase Scene (John Wick 4)
8. Saying Goodbye (The Creator)
7. Barbie’s First Tear (Barbie)
6. The Introduction (The Killer)
5. Bar Scene Argument (Fair Play)
4. The Final Race (Gran Turismo)
3. Miles Finds Out (Across the SpiderVerse)
2. The Final Dance (Guardians 3)
1. The Bomb (Oppenheimer)
Only did one per film otherwise top 5 would be Oppenheimer tbh lol
Dance scene in poor things🔥
Desperately waited for your end of the year best TV shows list but I guess it's not coming 😢
You should compile your list of your favorite characters (protagonists, villains, etc) from 2023 movies! Would be a great watch
The Siege of Toulon in Napoleon
The best scene in the killer is the start monologue
That’s a good one too
COMEDY GOLD 0:38
I’ll be here all week
LOL@@AustinBurke
I thought the final fight in Creed 3 was too short and overall underwhelming. I don't see what everyone was raving about
Something like liking a song for its catchy chorus line! Making a list like this, only for 'memorable moments' is one other way, of 'complimenting' a movie for its qualities. Excuse the *(the) one guy* who wasn't liking it! 😀
or the battle of Austerlitz from Napoleon
Boat scene superior to Atomic breath scene IMO.
Did you watch the First Slam Dunk movie? The final shot of the game is masterclass in tension. Similar to Godzilla Minus One plane scene, there is no sound... just silence.
I missed it initially! Looking out for it to drop somewhere soon. Excited to catch up.
Godzilla's atomic breath in minus one are cool and breathtaking to see. 😍
Couldn't agree more!
Am I the only one who doesn't like Past Lives and Maestro? That being said, Austin, you're still hot.
Where’s Super Mario Bros movie
Which moment specifically?
The John Wick scene is the most overrated scene of the year. Looks like GTA 2 lol
God it’s so good
@@AustinBurke lol it’s all good! I’ve just seen it before by an old video game lol. Took me out of the movie just on a personal level. Glad you didn’t choose the stairway scene. I felt like John did by that point lol Extraction 2 supremacy!
