Welcome to DCI!! (Drum Corps International). The talent is sooo good!! And they actually sometimes RUN or DANCE while they are playing and staying in formation while playing very intricate and complicated parts! Many many years of performances to watch. And many different kinds of music depending on the corps you watch. 👍👍😊
These are college kids who try out for different corps from across the country. They then have competitions across the country.
The finals are held mid-Aug, and then they return to their college or university.

They can be in high school too. We’ve had a few kids in our high school make a corp before their senior year and you age out at 21

@@austbob7161this guys right there normal dci world class corps have high amounts of high school performers to I’m marching pro indoor winds this season as a freshman and the amount of high school kids there marching drum corps is crazy. (Let’s Go Obsidian Winds 2025🎉)
These are the world champions you are watching right here. They performed their show at the championships as did eleven other finalists. There was an awards ceremony, and then they took the field to perform their entire show again. Thus: Encore.

The age out for DCI is 21. You have a mix of high school and college.

This is from college kids that are so in love with band that they PAY to be part of the PROFESSIONAL league.
They have an age top out before 23 I think, so it’s just the best of the best who want to play with the rest of the best.
21. 22 if your birthday happens during the season.

Their ages are 16-21... They aren't professionals, as they don't get paid for their performances. They actually have to get chosen after a tough audition and then pay a very high tuition price to do it. They are elite brass, percussion, and color guard musicians/performers. It's not possible to describe the work that every Corp goes through to perform these shows. You should watch "Carolina Crown dropping the Hammer"... To see them warm up, and then the worm hole will lead you down decades and decades of excellence.... It's a shame more American citizens still have yet to discover DCI
I like to say that they're professionals in every sense of the word BUT monetarily. Which yeah, I know they aren't real pros, but I think the amount of athleticism and musicianship required to perform on this level is certainly professional.

This is a mix of high school kids and college kids aged between 15 to 21. You guys should watch corps from the 90's. I recommend Madison Scouts 1995 and 1996 as well as their 1997 show
Dci has a max age of 21. After that there is DCA ( Drum Corp Association ) which is also called Senior Corp. There is no age range in that. I have marched in that. The shows aren't as great as this but they are still amazing. In DCI you spend your entire summer either traveling, performing or practicing. DCA is more of a weekend warrior type of experience.

Very slow, weird spoken word lyrics. I was in college in 1993 ( yeah I’m old) and someone brought some bootleg CD in to a party. I loved it! It’s not a sound for everyone. Long slow intro and then rocks at the end.

I’ve just been to Dallas. I met a woman there from Wylie. She brought me up there to hang and have fun. That’s the first time I heard the term “ropers”. The best was the food. BBQ in Texas was the best. This was 2 years ago. I love the Dallas and Wylie town. Only part of the state I’ve been to. What city besides Houston and Austin should I visit next?
San Antonio, Galveston, Ft Worrh. Those are very good places.
