One problem I always have with renal diet recommendations, is that they tend to ignore that blood glucose control problems are one of the major causes of renal disease, and many people with renal disease also have chronically high blood glucose. And recommending high glycemic foods like legumes and grains seems irresponsible, because blood glucose is far more dangerous than phosphorous. That doesn't mean eat meat. But the high glycemic plants are not a good option.
Hi! Can you please redo this video with PowerPoint slides and pictures? I don’t understand ingredient labels. Also: how do I purge Prosp. From my body? Thank you ❤
If you're looking to lower phosphorus levels in the blood naturally, it's essential to be mindful of your dietary intake, including vitamins and minerals. However, it's important to note that specific dietary recommendations should be discussed with a healthcare professional, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is involved in various metabolic processes, but it doesn't contain phosphorus. Foods rich in riboflavin include dairy products, eggs, lean meats, and green leafy vegetables. If you have concerns about phosphorus intake, it's still crucial to include sources of riboflavin in your diet, as it plays a role in overall health. Vitamin B6 is involved in the metabolism of amino acids, among other functions. Foods high in vitamin B6 include poultry, fish, potatoes, and bananas. While these foods may contain phosphorus, the amount is generally not significant enough to cause concerns about phosphorus levels unless consumed in extremely large quantities. Always consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have concerns about specific nutrients or if you are managing a health condition. They can provide personalized recommendations based on your individual health status and needs.
We look beyond just phosphate for bone health & mineral assessment. Unfortunately we are unable to provide personalized recommendations over in the comments section. However, please do consult with your medical team regarding your pain so they can help manage it medically and provide individualized recommendations for you.
I wish they would add phosphorus to nutritional labels. It’s so difficult to find out online real numbers. Until now I can’t find a straightforward source listing grains in order of phosphorus content. I’m trying to eat whole grains but when I eat brown rice I start itching and get kidney pain later and insomnia 😢
So if you have high phosphorus already, what should you do? Taking Sevelamer carbonate controls the phosphorus in the body but how about those tucked in your body, can it be removed?
Removing excess phosphorus from the body may not be a straightforward process, and it primarily involves addressing the factors that contribute to elevated levels. Always consult with your healthcare provider or dietitian for personalized advice and guidance based on your specific health situation. They can order appropriate tests, provide dietary recommendations, and adjust medications as needed to help manage phosphorus levels effectively.
The amount of phosphorus in couscous is generally lower compared to some other high-phosphorus foods. It's important to note that the phosphorus content can vary depending on the type and brand of couscous you choose. If you're on a low-phosphorus diet or need to monitor your phosphorus intake, it's advisable to check the nutrition label on the packaging for specific information about the phosphorus content. Additionally, if you have specific dietary restrictions or health concerns, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian who can provide personalized guidance based on your individual needs. They can help you create a balanced diet that meets your nutritional requirements while managing your phosphorus intake appropriately.
Would eliminate colby jack cheese from diet along with diet pepsi and milk lower phosphorous levels, or is red meat the main problem. Eat one hamburger instead of two.

Should everyone eat this way to prevent kidney disease or is this a diet specific for people who already have kidney disease? What's the best foods to prevent kidney disease and foods to avoid?
The dietary recommendations for kidney health can vary based on individual circumstances, including whether someone already has kidney disease or is looking to prevent it. However, adopting a generally healthy and balanced diet is beneficial for overall kidney health. Foods to include in your diet would be fruits & vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats. Foods to avoid would be processed foods, high sodium foods, high phosphorus foods, excessive protein.
@@KidneyNutritionInstitute that sounds like a diet I already eat except because I have osteoporosis I do go for bone healthy foods as well but sometimes I worry about my kidneys because I do eat high protein for my bone and muscle health, I don't eat processed foods but I have started adding sea salt to my diet because my doctor told me I'm low in blood pressure,, if I don't eat any processed foods especially since most processed foods are high in sodium, is it safe on the kidneys adding sea salt on a diet that's whole foods and already naturally low in sodium?
Here in Brazil we eat a lot of Pinhão. They are Giant Pine Nuts! They are extremely high in phosphorus and magnesium. Not the tiny pine nuts you have in the States. These are 2"-3 1/2" long. But we find after a prolonged time eating these things start not feeling well. Your talk of meat and beans containing so little phosphorus! Im talking 3000 mg per plate of pinhão or more!
Sorry, but I'm on this video because any amount of seeds or beans immediately sends me into a fight for my life you cannot even imagine. It takes a pound of ground meat with cheese and ketchup to pull this off, 2 mouthfuls of beans and I'm meeting the reaper again. If you're in a weird situation where you begin dying and start losing your mind upon too much exposure to phosphate, go ahead and use some baking soda (in a drink, diluted like weak diluted coffee), some Niacin 50mg at a time (DO NOT USE THE NON-FLUSH KIND), and if you're not throwing up, you can drink celery juice until your body cleanses. Dodge nightshades of all kinds, dodge nuts, seeds, legumes, beans, and especially dodge the subtle ones made out of these things that don't occur to you right away like chocolate. Coffee can be entirely tolerable as long as you don't use instant, but seriously eyeball and make sure something doesn't have a single sesame seed on it or you're done.

Chickpeas do have potassium and can be high in sodium, which is why it’s important to know how they can fit into a renal diet. The health benefits of adding chickpeas to the diet outweigh the potassium concerns because it provides a protein and fiber combo that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Hope that answer helped. A cup of chickpeas, weighing 164 g, provides 477 mg of potassium. People who use canned chickpeas should check how much added sodium they contain.
why not just take extra calcium (ie. carbonate form) plus vit. k3-m7 to minimize hypercalcemia... more serum calcium means lower phosphorus, no? 2:1 ratio is best.
Individual factors such as age, gender, overall health, and any existing medical conditions can influence the optimal balance of calcium and phosphorus. It's crucial to tailor dietary and supplement recommendations based on individual needs. Before making significant changes to your supplementation regimen, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider or dietitian. They can assess your current health status, review your medical history, and provide personalized advice on whether additional calcium supplementation is necessary or appropriate.
thanks for replying. are calcium supplements (not calcium phosphate) free of phosphorus? i was recommended to take extra calcium (calcium lactate, etc.) if i was worried about too much phosphorus from taking an ip6 supplement, etc. i mentioned this to my internist-gastroenterologist, and he said it was fine as long as i do not take more than the upper tolerable limit. he also added calcium has the bonus benefit of neutralizing high stomach acid (PPIs are too strong), but only the chewable types (similar to TUMS i assume). but he thinks since i do not eat much meat nor take high dairy stuff (except for some probiotic yogurt) nor drink sodas etc., my phosphorus level isn't such a big concern. i consume a lot of grains and soy and some veggies to offset the times i have to join social/work related events and eat junk stuff. he also recommended moderate exercise too (which i do a couple times per week, but i was told not to overdo it as i am a bit underweight with a 17-18 BMI score) - but how does exercise exactly reduce phosphorus levels (via sweating)?
Great job checking those ingredient labels! When it says "phos free" that means there's no added phos. Virtually everything has some naturally occurring phosphorus, but we recommend focusing on avoiding ADDED phos, since this is inorganic and 100% obsorbed by your body. Hope that helped!
