During my time in LA, I met up with actor and rapper Omar Gooding to teach him all about Indian food! Come with me as Omar Gooding tries Indian food for the first time in Los Angeles, California!
Watch AM Radio on Tubi:

Watch AM Radio on Amazon Prime Video:

If you’re around my age, you probably grew up watching Omar Gooding, from his hosting gig on Nickelodeon’s “Wild & Crazy Kids,” to his role as Mo on “Smart Guy” and his breakout role as Sweetpea in the movie “Baby Boy.” It was an honor hanging out with him-he’s super down to earth and hilarious!
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/...
This would be Omar’s very first time eating Indian food, so I was pumped to show him the ropes. He’s not big into spice, so I’d go a little easy on him in terms of heat! Inside, we met Angat, whose wife is expecting!
We’d be eating a thali, which is a huge platter containing smaller bowls of different Indian dishes. It would include gobi manchurian, a samosa, chana masala, aloo “Kobe (for Kobe Bryant),” butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, dal, saag paneer, and more! We’d also have garlic naan, biryani, chapati, and raita. It smelled so good!
We started with the chicken tikka masala, which was so creamy and made with tender breast meat. Next was the butter chicken, followed by the dal makhani, which is made with black lentils. It’s earthy, tasty, and really healthy. The dal tadka is a mushier yellow dal and is also amazing!
The aloo gobi contains potatoes and cauliflower, and the shahi paneer comes in a rich, yellow gravy made with cream and tomatoes. It’s very creamy! Next was the saag paneer, which was like a creamy spinach dip! The chana masala had a slight kick and was also very tasty!
Then, we talked a bit about Omar’s movie “A.M. Radio,” which is available on Tubi! It touches on lots of important topics and is a beautifully told story!
Next, the tandoori chicken arrived! We tried the tangy and sour pickles, the aloo samosa, and then their amazing drink made with masala water. It was a little strong!
The tandoori chicken was smoky, tender, and juicy! We followed that with the gobi manchurian, which is an Indo-Chinese cauliflower dish that kind of reminds me of popcorn chicken. It’s unbelievable and is coated in an incredible sauce!
Finally, we jumped on the king of dishes, the lamb biryani! It’s insane on its own, and then we added some raita to make it creamy. You can also mix in the other curries as well! It’s so flavorful. Each dish was better than the last!
Then, Omar and I left out to go have some tacos at his taco spot!

Omg I remember this guy from the "Smart Guy" sitcom growing up as a kid in the 90s and many awesome movies 😃. He's a great actor and Cuba Gooding Jr.'s younger brother.
Yeah he was the friend in Smart Guy. Loved that show
Nowhere near his level of knowledge, but I’ve been enjoying Indian food for 20+ years and introduced plenty of dates and friends to it myself. Mother’s Day 2010 I took my 78 YO (German / Irish), traditional, midwestern U.S. Mother and 6 other family members for their first curries, etc. The restaurant owner (Nimesh) was so honored that I entrusted him to serve my Mother and family on such and important day, that he and his wife treated us like their own relatives, serving us off menu items like a food tour of India. That one meal took us from being owner’s and a regular customer, to another level altogether and we are still friends to this day. They are two of the most kind and genuine human beings I’ve ever met. I only shared this story BC these vids stir up great memories. In my experience, one of the most meaningful gestures to learn about other cultures is to openly embrace their cuisine and break bread together. Much respect. ✌🏻
Dude, you are like the brand ambassador of Indian cuisine . ❤️❤️..The way you explain Indian food is so accurate and just brilliant... Loads of Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳❤️❤️

RIGHT!
David You are the best American who understands Indian food to the core
Really !!!
Rehne de Fuddu
Hey David, I enjoy seeing you eating Indian food. I like the advice you give to all your friends on how to eat Indian food - especially not using the left hand 😅. However you have to change the way you eat your biriyani. Biriyani by itself is very flavourful and should be eaten by itself without mixing the curries which should be eaten sparingly on the side. Also you should not turn the biriyani rice into a ball like you do. Rice and sambar is usually mixed and rounded into a ball before putting into your mouth. Adding curry to biriyani is like adding ketchup on a Pizza ! Please try it this way and enjoy the difference.
He doesn't know much
chal be... pure india m kisi ne utni varieties nahi khayi hogi... jitni is akele bahar bande ne kha lee h... use gyan pelne ki jarurat nahi h... apna gyan apne pas rakhe...

Yes u can
I really enjoyed you guys digging indian food! I do have to point out that the North Indian cream laden heavy food that we see in North American restaurants is not really a good representation of Indian food-north India has many states and a lot of Punjabi, Himachali, kashmiri food is, believe it or not made with mustard oil n not loaded with cream, we don’t see too many homestyle food restaurants which is something I hope will change one day ! Curry on!
no, not in punjab. it is made with cream, ghee and butter in restaurants. and ghee at home.
The way they both nod their heads and says mmhhm.. mmm.. hmmm.. shows they are enjoying it..its like taste meter.
David...touching 1 million subscribers. You are doing great by introducing Indian food culture to people from different races...Indian Government should reward you for it😉
Next level 🔥🔥👍👍
Shud hv eaten directly from thali as the portions are small and tend to get cold soon if taken out in plate. On the contrary u shud take out in plate and eat the dishes served in big bowls . Which u sometimes eat straight away .
He doesn't know
Loving ur videos love from India🙏
David thanks for being India's friend, introducting so many to indian dishes.
My mouth is watering. 🤤 I love Indian food--crave it, but my friends don't like it. 🙁 I'm gradually getting my best friend's taste buds oriented to more spicy foods.
David, no one explains Indian food better than you!
Much love david, amazing content for the past few years.
But please don't say the British conquered India, it was more like a backstab, cuz they came in as traders, got the kings to trust them which allowed them to bring the troops and also bribed small kingdoms and boom all of a sudden they backstabbed everyone and started pillaging human beings(Indians) and also destroyed the technology, craft and trade structure of the once called Golden Bird of the world.😀✌
Conquering to me is an honourable word used when someone wins a battle and takes over a land fair and square.
Edit: There's a lot of misinformation about this so thought I would throw in a summary about it here.
Omar I love you!!!
David we love your Indian cuisine content and we are not at all mad at you for posting indian food vlogs we just love your knowledge about our food and culture #davidsbeenhereindia
Knowledge....... really !!!
Punjab ❤️ Best people best food ❤️
Epic actor in baby boy
Omar has the best reaction.
Tikka means spicy, the masala used is from India and entire dish is of india
He nailed it. He's good at eating with his hands 👌🏽👌🏽.
It seems David put his Naan directly on the table instead of on plate . 🍽 Restaurant should actually provide an extra plate for Naan.
There is a plate ....its glass plate ..
Love from Assam ❤️👍👍
Lol from India .Thanks.
You have to eat "momos" From Nepal. They are amazing
Would love to see you trying Indian restaurants in Dallas, Texas too. So far your videos have been awesome
making me hungry 😋😋🤤🤤
A few corrections to the video.
Chicken tikka masala was made by Bengalis coming from Bangladesh that started up restaurants in Britain. Later on it became the national dish of Britain.
Also, Punjab is in BOTH India and Pakistan. Majority of Punjabis live in Pakistan such as in Lahore.
It’s just like how Bengal is in both India and Bangladesh.
Difference is religion and meat vs vegetarian dishes.
wrong. chicken tikka is punjabi evening snack. and masala is gravy used in many punjabi dishes.
so combining two punjabi things does not make it british, bengali or bangladeshi.
Amazing 😍😍
I love keema curry, Cape Malaysian curry in South Africa and bunny chow, which is lamb, beef or chicken curry put into bread loaf. YUM.
The reason why it is called tikka masala is because of the reddish colour. Literally tikka means red mark or sign, as in swastika etc Tikka also pronounced as tilaka or tilak when referring to a red elongated Hindu marking on male forehead. The dish was basically named after its red colour, however with so many variations and especially healthier ones, it's colour isn't was red nowadays.
what bull crap!
tikka is a punjabi word---from where this dish originates, it means piece.
like maang tikka---forehead piece.
Lakers starting to ball, need to win vs tougher competition. 💜💛
Spreading the gospel of the spirit of Indian spicy good eats.
Love you David 😊❤️

The best episode ever
Uffffffffff !!
yes sir lets go!!
This is EPIC bro!
Hi david lots of love from india
Why do you say we in uk called chicken tikka masala ctm? Not one person does also I am Indian and we do not use one hand to eat ever … you need to stop trying to tell people this, saag is mustard Leaves and spinach not other greens.
I have eaten with to many British Indians and they made it clear to me that it’s CTM. Also if your not eating with your hand that’s your choice.
I can say in India most of people still eat with the hands rather than cutlery..I am one of them and love to eat even in fancy restaurant.. don't care what ppl think of me. And will teach my kids also the same..there is no shame in flaunting your tradition..Peace 🙂✌️
We use two hands for sure and ctm is not ever used in uk…. I am 42 years of age and my friends have many restaurants and not one person calls it ctm, or uses only one hand to eat… fact . I am a uk Indian my family are from Punjab India and even there they use two hands
@@sondeepgill492 bro, chicken tikka is punjabi. british trying to steal everything like they always do. but it is globalised world now. not good for lies.
This dude is hilarious
Chicken teekha masala means chicken spicy or fiery or chilly or hot masala.
It can b made with or without bone.
nope. its not teekha. it is tikka--a punjabi word meaning piece. and it is always boneless. and a common punjabi snack. add masala--again punjabi gravy, it becomes ctm.
ctm is anything but teekha. it is mild and creamy--the reason for its popularity abroad.
as a rule, punjabi dishes are mild and creamy.
Hahaha👍🤣🤣🤣🤣AMAZING video ever 👏🤣🤣Thanks for sharing guys ✌👏👍😂😂
