I so pity the younger generations who can't get this now...and that's not a slam, I don't think it's fair to expect them to...to really appreciate it, you'd have to have been around back then and understood the climate then.
Honest dialog is a beautiful thing ,people should be comfortable being who they are ,that way everyone is honest with themselves and others ,no one is misled.
One of my favorite parts of the show is when Sammy Davis Jr. kissed Archie on the cheek and his jaw dropped!
Couldn't have a show like that today to many people would get there feelings hurt
Who gives a sh$t
Yeah... wah wah wah. Cry babies getting ready to run our already ruined country.
@@haydennault5342 people are super sensitive. Whine and cry about the most unheard of things on the planet. Comedy for some is not for others. 😂
@@haydennault5342 relax, don't worry about other people. 😑
Yeah especially trumpsters because that summarizes Archie and his friends
The world needs more Archie Bunkers.
I’m not positive I agree with that.
The show made fun of Archie and his bigotry, but some don't realize that.
Oh I see
@@alexanderestrada2499you're part of the problem & don't realize it. Because you've swallowed the kool-aid.
I don’t think so.
One of the greatest shows of all time!!!
Loved this show, People's heads would explode today. Should show them to some sissies of today
Exactly. All friggn cupcakes 🖕🖕🤣
LOL, shithole MAGA house that he lived in
@@guomondur9248 Yeah, like houses with BLM signs on the lawn look SO much better inside...🙄
@@guomondur9248 😂😂😂👍👌✌️
@@guomondur9248 Well, Einstein, that row house in Queens would probably set you back $800,000 today.
Any other pinheaded comments you care to ooze from that hole in your head?
scary how this show is relevant 50 years later
People never change.
All because the it's still the same 2 crappy parties running the show. Just out for money and power BOTH of them. NO LIFE MATTERS JUST MONEY
And in 50 more yrs, sadly it will remain relevant .
@ You need to learn the history of these two parties' platforms. They were completely the opposite of each other at that time. If Abraham Lincoln were running today, he'd be a Democrat. Anyone with a modicum of understanding of US political history knows that.
I dont know about this. Edith as a wife and mother would never be portrayed in this fashion, imo. She was portrayed as docile and dumb as a brick. in today's shows, women tend to be portrayed as much smarter than their husbands in the script writing. Nit always, but most of the time.
The way he flicks the paper at 3:02 😂😂😂 hilarious.
This show was so PERFECT for the time it played in. The 70s - an amazing decade.
The problem we have today is people take themselves too seriously, this is pure comedy gold made by someone who knew how to laugh. "Hey look Edith he wore his Halloween costume".
the expression on both Archie n ediths face was priceless when Gloria opened the door to see meathead lol 👍
and after all these years ARCHIE was right!
No.
Did you know All in the Family has spun off more shows than almost any other television program. All in the Family spun off Maude (1972) which spun off Good Times (1974). It spun off The Jeffersons (1975) which spun off Checking In (1981). It spun off Archie Bunker's Place (1979), 704 Hauser (1994) as well as Gloria (1982). That's 7 programs spun off from one TV show.
I remember seeing Checking In when it was on TV. Wow, time flies.......
Star Trek has it beat, 11 series in all, including the animated shows and the upcoming.
Mama's family
@@stevesmith291 He said more than almost any other program...
These shows were before my time, Good Times , The Jeffersons, Maude and all in the family are some of my favorite sitcoms and had no idea growing up that they were all connected,
I remember my grandmother watched this show. I'm seeing this for the 1st time. I'm blown away with how raw, and multi-dimensional the writing was back then. I thought The Jeffersons and Good Times went in with the storytelling and breaking down politics and social events of the time. I can appreciate the perspective All in the Family portray as well. It's like All in the Family was the precursor to the current talk radio.
Meathead was a meathead then, and is the very definition of it today.
THE GREATEST SIT-COM EVER CREATED.
Loved this show. I also saw Carrol O'Connor on stage, in the movies (Kelly's Heroes is one of my favorites).
This was a groundbreaking show and regrettably could most likely not be done today.
I have always loved this show its one of the best ones ever!
Jean Stapleton was soooo good , she played Edith to a T.
She defined the role!
I loved that show! Archie Bunker made a lot of sense!
Haha it took Bunker 4 minutes to nickname Mike the meathead. They both played their parts so well!
Ironic that Archie was the real meathead,
It was the writers.
All in the family is and always will be my favorite tv show! Tv is not the same in this day and age.
The dawn of the meathead word 😆
Or Ham hock
And the definition !
There was a boy in my class that someone nicknamed Meathead, even the teachers called him that. Middle school.
Carroll O'Conner - the best of all time.
This show is just the best. Everyone associated with it should be proud.
Such great classic show with great actors
Not even 5 minutes in and he had already earned his new moniker!
It's easy to forget how awesome this show was! And it was! I remember watching the first episode, and it began with a warning that the show could be offensive to some people.
Fifty-five years ago. Incredible!
-best, 30-minute sitcom... ever.
Watched this religiously with my parents we all cracked up. Couldn’t get away with this now with out being overly crude.
Never watched Family Guy or South Park have you?
@@spaceghost8995 I have but those are niche shows, not mainstream broadcasts. The fact that they are animated gives them a further degree of separation from reality. Plus they are overly crude.
@@John-pc3cx right.. and All in the Family was prime time TV when we had 3, 6, 10, 12 on VHF and 17, 29 and 48 on UHF (here in the Philadelphia area). So when the family sat in front of the boob toob there wasn't a list of 500 channels to bounce around to, we sat and watched. All in the Family, Sanford and Son or whatever else was on.
Archie was spot on when he met the “meathead” Reiner wasn’t acting at all 50 years later he’s still the same character.
