Arguably, the game is faster paced than Max0r's editing, several of the boss fights he had to put together multiple attempts worth of footage just to be able to explain the boss before it's death animation played.

If I remember correctly there's an ingame lore reason for why the game looks retro.
V1 (the blue robot you play as) percieves things in low quality to dedicate more processing power towards decision making, planning, mouvements and reaction time.
Imagine a mod where the worse you play and the slower you move the higher the quality everything becomes, then it drops drastically when you go fast lmao

This actually makes a lot of sense as games with more advanced graphics have worse readabilty, and can't be as fast as Ultrakill.

Max0r announced he was making another Genshin video, and from what I know from being a Genshin fan myself, if he somehow makes it under 20 minutes, only true fans of Genshin will even understand everything he talks about.

Ultrakill is genuinely one of the best action games I’ve ever played, if not THE best. It can be hard as nails on higher difficulties, but it avoids feeling cheap with the difficulty and, unlike some games (*glares furiously at the SoulsBorne franchise*), doesn’t make you repeat 15-30 minutes of gameplay every time you die, plus there’s no penalty for playing on easier modes. Combine that with the absurdly satisfying gameplay and the cool and diverse environments and you get a recipe for one of my favorite games of all time, period.
I was waiting for this one to come out though for some reason I thought you had already reacted to part 1...

So if you never played this game, this is what I can imagine a hard trip when you take ALL of the drugs. The game is insanity incarnate. It's a new game still in early access. You only need to know three things about this game: Mankind is dead, blood is fuel, hell is full.
Ok but seriously it's a high octane super fast retro first person shooter where you play as a robot killing demons as you descend deeper into the bowls of hell itself. It's not a complete game yet but BOY is it fun. You will need the reflexes of a GOD to play it though.

On his first reaction to max0r, he was completely stunned at the edits, his brain breaking several times, eyes melting out of his skull. But bit by bit, video after video, he got used to it. There was less flashy edits, more dialogue, more jokes. The storm weathered a bit. The Elden Ring videos, for all the edits, there's also little breaks with the boss AMV edits. But he's gotten used to it. He's seen and known max0r. He can watch longer, take in more. He was no longer scared.

While the game itself is fast paced, Max0r as usual grabs the entire thing and turns it into... this.
This will be Max0r's magnum opus. I know this because he hasn't made the game any more or less batshit than it is normally. He is entirely correct in stating that we aren't supposed to be living like this - we're supposed to be threshing grain, dying of smallpox and killing each other with stones.
Max0rs ultrakill videos are without a doubt his best.

It’s also funny enough that it mostly stands on its own if you don’t know the reference.

The in lore reason everything looks like that is because machines like V1 (your character) simplify how everything looks around them for higher processing speeds

22:17 This is actually a reference to a youtuber, Civvie11. He is currently being held in a Special Corrections facility hidden somewhere under [REDACTED] and forced to make videos about FPS games. One of the people he often interacts with (though never by choice) is a radioactive, glowing rodent named Cancer Mouse.
To give a bit of context to the game before you get too lost in the increasingly insane editing, the plot was explained briefly:

You play as V1, a prototype warmachine invented for an ongoing world war.
Peace broke out broke out before it could be employed.
Nonetheless, V1 and its followup warmachines were activated.
Humanity failed to stop them.
With life on Earth wiped out, V1 and company were still active, and now starving.
Their fuel source is blood, and they already drank the planet dry.
V1 found its way into hell, finding it utterly full of life.
The rest of the robots followed it in.
Thus,

Edit: If you’re worried about your computer handling it, my laptop can play Dark souls 2 at the lowest possible settings with optimization mods at around 25 fps. I get 600 fps by default in ultrakill and it still takes up less of my gpu and cpu than chrome.
So, the Linus Tech Tips dimension. You can alter the game files to make the terrain in the Cybergrind (basically an infinte enemy area, and what he is in during that clip) whatever image you want. So, he made in Linus Tech Tips, or earlier, he made it Margaret Thatcher.
You should absolutely experience ULTRAKILL, it is awesome and you definitely won't regret it, i won't spoil nothing but i have to say that ULTRAKILL is PEAK GAMING, and also that you should read everything if you end up playing it, you truly don't wanna miss anything, and also you should try to find as many secrets as you can, because they are the creme de la creme, the cherry on top. I'll be honest
from my experience with this video and his act 2 video
the first mistake you can make is attempting to fully comprehend everything at any given time
Frankly, going into this video without knowing about this game, which is new by the way, was probably not a good idea. This game is nuts all on its own.
The quotes at the beginning are God's testaments, as time went on, he got tired of humanities shit and made hell before eventually dying. The humans made the machines but with a design change: BLOOD IS THEIR FUEL. Eventually there was a war and V1, the player character was developed. After the war ended and humanity went extinct, V2 was made. However they were just prototypes so there's only one of each model in existence. Eventually, blood was becoming scarce so they began sending machines to hell to find blood. This is when V1 gets sent, but along the way, the Archangel Gabriel tries to stop him but failed. The corpse of King Minos was brought into existence as a Supreme husk when Gabriel killed the king. The husk is only as large as it is due to how fond the people of the lust layer were of him. And no, the next layer is not within the corpse. The elevators are also used as signal transmitters, they turn the original object into radio signals before ending it to the next transmitter.

I absolutely love this game. It has such impressive movement and an insane arsenal. Not to mention secret levels that change the mechanics of the game.
The first horror secret mission is called: Something wicked.
And the puzzle secret mission is called: The witless. (Obvious reference to the witness).
There's also: all imperfect love song
And: Clash of the brandicoot.
Each of those missions changing the genre.
And the combat system is nuts since you have multiple mods for each of your guns and you can do combos like shooting an explosive with one gun and sniping it mid-air with a railgun to make it explode into a bigger blast, or boumcing your shots with coins or just straight up holding left click and swapping shotguns so you don't have to reload.
TLDR; the game is insanely good and I can't wait for the final act to release.
Some ultrakill lore. Humanity made robots. Fueled by blood. So they killed humanity and God and now are invading hell.
Yeah, when it comes to Max0r's videos, I have to approach them with a certain level of zen. There's too much happening on screen at once for a human to possibly comprehend, so I just have to focus on main happenings and the voice lines, and actively try not to get hung up on everything, lest my brain explode
Watching this guy react to this video gave me a bigger headache than actually watching the original video because of how much he pauses and starts and watches frame-by-frame it hurts my head

It's just the one secret level at least in the first part.

Humanity is dead. Killed by their robots which run on blood. Hell is now full and the robots are now going into hell to get more blood. And this hell is based on Dante’s Inferno.
Not to nitpick but Dante's inferno is a game based on the book the divine comedy which Ultrakill is also based on
