    The Chinese company that makes those sells them to a few other companies. They are functionally identical, just the shell and maybe the controls differ slightly. The internal brew mechanism, grinder, and seemingly the logic are the same. Most are currently for sale for $399, or $499 with a milk steaming wand.
    This includes GE Profile, SMEG (grossly overpriced at $900+), Cafe Affetto, Espressione Concierge, and likely others.

    • @michaelerbreviews

      You got it. Using boost increases the amount of coffee used to make the espresso thus it will be more strong and not as watered down once you add ice and possibly more water. You can also make multiple shots depending on how much iced coffee you ultimately want.

    • @topreviewer2934
      @topreviewer2934 2 года назад

      Do you have a favorite local coffee roaster or coffee shop? I'd start there. Finding the best coffee to fit your taste preference will take some hit or miss attempts. Your local roasters should be able to guide you. If you're looking for convenience and don't worry so much about freshly ground, I've used Whole Bean Starbucks Pike with marginally satisfying results.

    • @michaelerbreviews
      @michaelerbreviews  2 года назад

      I like to go to local coffee roasters to buy my coffee. Everyone has their own coffee taste preferences so you may have to go through some trial and error to fine your favorite coffee. In a pinch you could try a bag of Starbucks Whole Bean PIke which is medium roast. But really, visit a local coffee shop and start there. They can guide you to trying a variety and roast of coffee that will fit your needs.

      If I shop at Starbucks, I wonder if Italian roast is too oily & dark? It's always been my favorite roast. What is the darkest acceptable roast for this machine.... and can I simply clean it more if I were to favor darker roasts?

    Thank you

    • @michaelerbreviews
      @michaelerbreviews  2 года назад +3

      Very good question and I was intending to make another video comparing them side by side. In a nutshell, they are the same mechanism inside. Exactly the same. But the Cafe Affetto has a more sophisticated software interface and method of making the espresso, Americano and Lungo plus some additional options. BUT, if you mainly want espresso, or Americano, I can't really justify the cost of the Cafe Affetto. It's more than twice the price of The Tchibo. For about $300 I think The Tchibo is the winner.

    Poor customer support. I purchased one for my travel trailer because of its narrow profile. Counter space is at a high premium in a TT and my Saeco Vienna took too much space. Used it for two seasons without an issue but it failed to make coffee in the third season. Contacted about a repair, sent them a video they requested and have heard nothing despite several follow up emails. Contacted several small appliance repair shops and none will even took at it. No repair or parts manuals that I have found online so i am stuck and operating blind. Will most likely buy another Saeco for my TT despite the use of space and I can have the Saeco repaired locally.

Is there any way I can fix this myself. I've seen adverts for grindz, a cleaning product for grinders that you put through like you would the beans but I don't think you're supposed to use them in an espresso bean to cup machine. Any help gratefully received!

      The purple package of SuperGrindz is made to remove the oil from the grinder mechanism in automatic espresso machines. I’ve been using very oily dark roast beans for a year with no problems at all. I use the SuperGrindz pellets monthly as part of my maintenance routine.

Turn the machine on the side and check by yourself how dirty the mechanism is. The tchibo shop not acknowledge the complaint and return the product and stated its not faulty.
