i have seen some of these bow. in korea, most archery field users use a mordern fiber version of korean bow. cause traditional bow made of horn and cow's muscle liner like this-is pretty hard to maintain. it is like a living thing. have to take care of it with love. and nicely cared one- its just like a creature.

The bad guys are coming, the bad guys are coming! Quick! String your bows! Oh wait! Never mind! Just kidding. I love these bows and the history associated with them. Korean soldiers/warriors were outstanding in Vietnam. The South Koreans are very fine people!

how did they string these things in the field? going through such a process each time seems unfeasible for soldiers.

hi. I am alif from Indonesia. I have a gakgung bow, and I have difficulty in attaching the straps and setting the bow ... if you don't mind can you make a video on how to attach the bowstring, especially in curva settings in English.

    Hi
The above bow is made ou of Horn and wood. And in the winter, due to the cold, the horn must be heated before srtung. Otherwith it may break. Horn bows are one of the most durable bows in mankind history, but they do require a lot of care in stringen them and in shooting them. In Korea beginner shoot only carbon bows, and only later, when they can shoot good they are aloud to shoot a horn bow.

I now know that I will NEVER own one of these bows! Too much knowledge required just to string it! Thanks for sharing.

    Hi
I do not know how much time he had the bow on the heat. I saw him placing the bows in the snow. I do not know how long he had the bows in the warm room befor he begaun to heat them, but he kept always feeling the bow if it gets not too hot. Unfortunatly he does not speaks inglish. The knot is only a loop that went trough the last turn of the string (no knot at all).
