In 1905 there was a book written about Indian Clubs and important thing they say is to keep it under 2 lbs to prevent injuries. That device you are swinging has a high potential of damaging your shoulder, good luck.

I have a suggestion that worked for me when I first started doing squats and my balance was bad. I put 1 5lb circular weight under each heel. As I strengthened my thighs I was able to remove them and keep my balance. Huge help when first starting out. They don’t specifically have to be the circular right. Just anything that resembles the thickness of one and can handle your weight without being crushed.

Wonderful training /junbi taiso,Sensei. Reminds me of my years training with my teacher, Barrish sensei.. Not many out there really focus on the hips/hara method correctly although many talk about it. Thank you for sharing. 🙏

Wow. Barrish Sensei had a very profound influence on my martial arts training in the mid 90s. I would travel to Washington for a few summers and even helped build the dojo. The skills I learned from Barrish Sensei were critical for my understanding of Katori Shinto Ryu. Believe it or not I watched one of your videos about a year ago and it brought back memories of training. I could tell right away that you were one of his students. LOL
Just for fun I’m going to post this video In which I use a lot of his core concepts underline the body movements. I hope we get to meet and train someday. Keep up the good work.

@@paulfrank1777 I remember you dropping in to train. I started with Sensei in Jan ‘95. We parted ways in 2012 but his teachings are my core. Can always tell who’s trained with Barrish sensei. And thank you for watching one of my videos. 🙏😊

Those are some excellent squats! Already from the start you get, that he's knowing what he's taking about.
    Great value!
One question Sensei Frank: how much does that chiishi roughly weight?
P.S. wow! Those jo swings in the end absolutely prove my point!

Have you tried the indian push-ups? they would perfectly fit the purpose here at the end (but for rehabilitation it is pretty hard-core). best regards.
