Addis Ababa should have been on the list but may be the author lacks exposure. Home to the headquarters of the African Union and with representation from nearly every foreign embassy from around the world, Addis Ababa is often referred to as the political capital of Africa. It also houses the tallest building in East Africa, countless museums of kings and Queens, including “Lucy’s” residence just to name a few. The country also has numerous UNESCO world heritage sites. When you come to South Africa you will need weeks to see everything.. even us as South Africans still experience places for the 1st time just because of how much we have to offer.. from our game in Limpopo to our warm beaches in Durban, to the cold waters and breathtaking scenery of the Western Cape.. the drive from Johannesburg to the Western Cape is a MUST because with a flight you will miss the most beautiful sights that SA has to offer. It's about 1000km to drive and will take you about 14-16hrs, but it is sooooo worth it.. that way you get to see a bit of everything.. cities like JHB and PTA is 35min apart, Durban is about 6hrs drive from JHB. So it depends on how far you want to go but a road trip from one place to another is the best. Our Knysna forest is also a must visit in my opinion. You need at least 2 weeks in the Western Cape but a week in each of the other cities is enough to experience it properly.

2 weeks in the Western Cape? We're so ready for this trip. We may not be able to spend that long in one place, but we hope to get the gist of the country to enjoy our time.

The problem with Africa is that development is concentrated in one place. For example most capital cities are beautiful and well maintained and then you move to other cities. It is an eyesore. The continent must make devolution a real thing.

I agree with you but South Africa has done an almost good job in trying to maintain almost all its cities. I have traveled extensively to other African countries and the truth is that their only focus towards development is steered towards their Capital city. Whereas in South Africa you can still take someone to Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape), North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga and find touristy things to do in lovely scenery.

That footage of Nairobi can't be newer than 5 years ago. There are landmarks missing, like at 8:47 the beautiful _One Africa_ building in Westlands is missing. It has an amazing Japanese restaurant at the top floor, surrounded by glass for breathtaking views of the Nairobi greenery. And GTC Tower maybe 200m away is also missing.
That area has changed a lot. The road actually now has an expressway above it.. stretching 27 km/17 miles.... directly linked to the international airport in the city. I didn't see Britam Tower either... so that footage is missing the tallest buildings in Nairobi now (among the tallest in all of Africa)

Ghana is facilitating the return with projects like the year of Return.
South Africa is basically like America, you’ll get the African experience but with Eurocentric influence. SA is popping culturally though
East Africa (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya) have great history. And the tourism infrastructures are upscale esp in Kenya with the Safaris.
    West Africa obviously Nigeria.

You guys are amazing. I am blessed to have been born in Cape Town, South Africa. I think the original poster doesn't do these cities justice because it is a snapshot of What these cities offer. Cape Town offers beaches, views, and different sceneries within a 2-hour drive you can go to a semi-desert, a beach, a forest, a mountain a valley, Metropolis, farmland, etc. Hence the growing Film industry (many international movies and series are filmed here) Then you have the rich culture of the land, the history, and then you get to the food, oh my God, the food, it is the most eclectic blend and fusion (you will hear this often) of so many cultures. Cape Town was the landing port back in the day for slavers, traders and although many people moved to the central regions, many stayed at the point of origin, thus began centuries of blending of cultures and DNA. You will have heard of Coloreds. Even some Coloreds do not like to be called that but it is not quite the dirty word it is in USA. I myself identify as colored/malay/Indian. Which makes me colored by default. We are often condemned as not having a identified culture, which is kind of true but we created our own. I am not sure if you still intend visiting or have done so but you will have a blast. Also some people have made it sound that Loadshedding is a part of the culture of South Africa, I call BS, yes we have had to live with it for years, but there is no cultural reason for it other than lack of planning, ineptitude and corruption and that has led to the loadshedding. Can it be dangerous, YES, a resounding YES, unless you follow a set plan, only travel to places in a tour group or led by a reputable tour guide or if you know people here. The hotels will also be able to help you with where to go or not. Hope you channels goes as far as you hope and pray it does. PS, DO not use Taxis (mini bus variety), Sedan Taxis or Uber Yes, Mini bus taxis, NO!!!! I am Muslim and don't drink, although I dont judge, along with the food, I believe the wines are good too.

And it's home to one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.....the table mountain. Ubiquitous from every part of the city. Oh and you get to visit Robben Island with it's Nelson Mandela history. Home to one of the most beautiful shopping malls.....Canal Works. You can even see the Atlantic and Indian Ocean meet with different colours. Infact It has everything. If you ever visit, you will be going again and again. Yea, it's that beautiful. My number 1 holiday destination. I recommend this city. The only downside........the people are not so warm. Not so friendly, but it takes nothing away from the city. Perhaps the history of South affects them so i can understand. Unlike other holiday destinations in Africa. The warmness of the people thrumps South Africans. Comparing Nairobi to Cape Town is straight-up hilarious. Cape Town totally outshines Nairobi in every damn aspect, not just in terms of beauty.
Cape Town holds the badass title of being the only African city that has been ranked number 1 twice for the most beautiful cities in the world. It has consistently made it to the top 10 list for six freakin' times in a row, rubbing shoulders with the likes of LA, Paris, New York, London, Barcelona, Rome, and others.
Nairobi can't even crack the top 50 list of the most stunning cities in the world, so comparing it to Cape Town is straight-up disrespectful to the max.
When it comes to Nairobi, it's more appropriate to compare it to cities of its level like Addis Ababa, Lagos, Accra, and other West African cities.
