Hmm! 🤔 You told me an upgrade might be in my future. I may have to give the Komet 2 a try. Let's see where it's priced. As always, thanks for a great review.
It's so much better. They really addressed a lot of the question marks pertaining to the Komet 1. I'm curious where it ends up being price wise as well.
I ordered one before watching this video lol can confirm I’m more excited 😂 I have the cocobolo wrapless playing cue and man I love that cue. Looking forward to the new breaker💪🏽 thanks for the great in depth review. Keep it up😅
I have the 1st komet and will stick with it because the league i play in just use bar box tables and does the job. I am curious about the new shaft but worry the bakelite tip will dent up the cue ball?
I don't think Bakelite will do that. It's roughly the same hardness as phoenolic tips and no cue balls are being damaged with that. Here's what the internet says... "No, Bakelite is unlikely to damage a cue ball because billiard balls are typically made from phenolic resin, which is tougher and more durable than polyester resin. In fact, Bakelite was the preferred material for pool balls in the 1920s, and even wealthy people switched to Bakelite balls when they needed to replace their ivory pool balls."
@HereAfterBilliards thanks for the reply I was curious about your tests to see if the bakelite did anything to the cue ball but thank you for the confirmation.
I like Rhino product for the most part. I did change the break tip on my Komet 1 first thing and it made it feel so much better ( Taom2.0). I do think i will probably never get a different break cue or need to. I have a Rhino shaft for my Mcdermott butt. If feels good and fits perfect. I do use the Komet break tip on my shooting cue because i like a hard tip. After shaping it, it plays and feels like the old milk dud tips. Horrible for breaking but works great for normal shooting. After your review of the Parkour jump cue i am thinking of getting it to replace my current jump cue.
Yeah the Komet 1 tip was not a break tip. Interesting that you still play with it though on your playing cue! I'm not a hard tip guy myself. You won't be dissipointed with the Parkour Jump Cue. It's amazing. Thanks for watching!
Why? Do you have them? I just looked at the breaker specs and it looks like the specs are identical to what the Komet 2 have now. So basically the same cue but a different overlay. Same with the playing cue...same specs as the Retro. What are your thoughts?
@@HereAfterBilliards I have the USA Play Cue and love it. I have the USA break in the cart but I am hesitant on pulling the trigger. Seeing this video on the comet 2 and you saying it seems the same. I think I will go purchase. Thanks
@@georgiannegooday9108 Yes the specs between the Komet 2 and the Voyager seem the same. Bakelite Tip ✅ 29" length✅ 13mm diameter ✅ The one thing that might be different is the protaper. It could be a simple message to Rhino asking about that. On the Komet I would describe it as a hybrid taper. First 6 inches are pro and then a slight conical after that. I find they're very responsive on Facebook Messenger👍
I have Zero confidence in Rhino cues. I ordered a rhino break shaft to use on my break cue, WORST PURCHASE EVER. I had to use 10 alcohol wipes to remove the black residue from the shaft before even using it, then the side of the tip started peeling immediately when I started to break with it so I eventually replaced it with a Tiger break tip, it felt ok to break with but a lot of vibration. But the complete disappointment came about 2-4 weeks after I got the shaft when the SHAFT EXPLODED IN THE FRONT END on one of my breaks. The white ferrule completely separated from the black shaft and the front end of the shaft split open into maybe 6 or so pieces. That's $200 gone. In 25 years of playing pool I've broken with house cues, and all my playing cues including my Cuetec Cynergy playing shaft which I've currently been breaking with for years but didn't want to keep using as it's my main playing shaft and no shaft had ever broken on a break shot. I'm Never buying from Rhino ever again!
Man that is shitty! I'm sorry that was your experience. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this happened early 2024 or late 2023? Certainly the black soot issue has been dealt with and isn't present on the new products (even the REVO had this issue when they first came out) . Let me know if I'm right on the timing. The reason I say that is because from the first products I received from Rhino (the Komet 1 & the Eclipse) to the products they're releasing today (the Retro, Parkour Jumper and Komet 2) I'm seeing a huge upswing in their quality. It's like they're learning on the fly if that makes sense. In a matter of 6 months they've completely expanded and improved their entire product line. I know me saying this doesn't make your experience any cooler...AT ALL! In my gut I just feel that this is the natural progression of a company. I'm old enough to remember when Cuetec entered the scene. They were absolutely a budget cue company. They learned over time and look at them now! I don't know man... These are just my thoughts. I'm interested to see where Rhino goes in the future... They seem really hungry.
@@HereAfterBilliards Yes this was in early 2024 around June. I had no real problems with the soot or the tip change, but a break cue shattering on a break?? Unacceptable. Biggest let down in pool ever for me and they never even responded after I put the review with the photos on their Amazon where I made the purchase. I'm happy that you're having a good experience with them though.
